Teen held in fatal stabbing

Honor killings continue to be perpetrated in Western society by muslim immigrants. This time an Iranian immigrant was stabbed to death by a Norwegian-Pakistani over a perceived slight to the Pakistani's family. So much for muslim bnrotherhood. All the PC, multi-culti, diversity excuses for such barbaric behavior will not eliminate it. Such behavior must be stopped, or those islamic sects perpetrating such murders must be removed from the West. You can take the muslim out of the ummah, but you can't take the ummah out of the muslim.

Teen held in fatal stabbing

An 18-year-old male was ordered held in custody on Monday for at least four weeks, after he stabbed and killed a 17-year-old friend on a playground in suburban Bærum Sunday afternoon. Shocked witnesses included small children.

The stabbing occurred after the two friends reportedly had quarreled at a party the night before. They agreed to meet on the playground in a housing complex in Rykkinn, to settle their differences.
The meeting ended with the older teen stabbing the younger. The victim died on the scene after being stabbed in the chest.
A witness saw the assailant throw down a knife and run off. He turned himself in to police just a few hours later.
His defense attorney, Vidar Lind Iversen, said the two had been good friends for a long time and his client denied the killing was premeditated. "He is very sorry about what happened and claims it was a deeply tragic accident," Lind Iversen said.
The stabbing was witnessed by many residents of the area and children, who were out in the sunshine Sunday afternoon. One resident, a man who sat on his balcony and heard the pair arguing, ran to help after he saw the stabbing and the victim fall to the ground. His wife told newspaper Dagbladet that he was well-trained in first-aid, but couldn’t stop the victim’s bleeding.
Family members and friends of the victim gathered at the scene Sunday evening, to lay down candles and flowers. The victim emigrated as a child from Iran to Norway, and his assailant was Norwegian-Pakistani. An acquaintance of both told newspaper Dagbladet that one had said unpleasant things about the other's family at the party Saturday night, "and that's forbidden in these circles."

Palestinian TV: Baby Killer A Lesson for Us

Palestinian TV: Baby Killer A Lesson for Us

By Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook

Palestinian Media Watch | 6/30/2008
According to the Palestinian Authority leadership, Samir Quntar epitomizes the ideal Palestinian prisoner. Quntar, who crushed the head of four-year-old Eynat Haran with his rifle, is serving four life sentences for murder in an Israeli prison, but is almost certain to be freed in a prisoner swap with Hizbullah this week.

On one hand, Quntar embodies what the PA considers the "heroism" of terrorists fighting Israel. On the other hand, he's the ultimate symbol of all terrorist prisoners who have murdered Israelis and will eventually be freed as a result of future kidnappings or through some other means.

PA TV, controlled by Mahmoud Abbas, broadcast the following picture honoring Quntar. He is depicted beside a map of Israel completely covered by the Palestinian flag. [PATV, 23-25 June 2008] Following are several recent quotes from PA leaders since April 2008, describing Quntar: "Samir Quntar, the warrior from Lebanon."
"The brave warrior, Samir Quntar."
"The Palestinian people and the Palestinian leadership are standing behind you (Quntar)."
"You (Quntar) are an inseparable part of the action to free our homeland."
"Your (Quntar) patience and strength are a lesson for us." Besides bludgeoning Eynat Haran to death with rocks and his rifle, Quntar killed her father and was responsible for the death of her infant sister. He also killed two policemen in the 1979 attack in Naharia. The Israeli cabinet today approved a prisoner exchange that would free Quntar and several other prisoners in exchange for Israeli soldiers Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser, who were kidnapped by Hizbullah in 2006. The exchange could happen within the next few days.

Hindus will not get Kashmir land

Oh yeah, keep the muslims mollified at any cost, even the soventry of one's country. So now the Indian government has reniged on an agreement with the Hindu community due to muslim rioting.

[...]
"Separatist groups said the transfer of land was part of a "conspiracy to settle non-local Hindus in the valley with a view to reducing the Muslims to a minority".
[...]

Amazing, that's just what muslims have been doing to other cultures for 1,400 years, and now don't like a dose of their own medicine.

FROM NEWS.BBC.CO.UK:

Hindus will not get Kashmir land

The government of Indian-administered Kashmir has said it will revoke its decision to transfer land to a body that manages an important Hindu shrine.
News that the Amarnath Shrine Board was to get the forest land sparked days of protests by the area's Muslim majority.
Three people were killed and hundreds injured, including police officers.
The protests were the among the biggest in the disputed Himalayan region for years, and widened to focus on pro-independence demands.
'Conspiracy'
State Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said the cabinet would formally revoke the plans.
He was speaking after the shrine board's management offered to return the land.
The state government now says it will provide all the necessary facilities for pilgrims who want to visit the shrine.
The government had said the land was needed for the construction of pre-fabricated huts and toilets for the pilgrims.
Separatist groups said the transfer of land was part of a "conspiracy to settle non-local Hindus in the valley with a view to reducing the Muslims to a minority".
Local environmentalists also protested against the decision.
The unrest has brought back memories of widespread protests that swept the region after a separatist insurgency began in 1989.

"A statement Monday by the prosecutor said Wilders made his anti-Muslim remarks in the context of a legitimate debate."
A victory for free speech and common sense. But there remains the Jordanian effort to use Interpol to secure his arrest and extradition. "No charge in Dutch Muslim incitement," from the Associated Press, June 30:

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) — The public prosecutor's office says it will not charge right-wing legislator Geert Wilders with inciting hatred for his film denouncing the Quran.
The prosecutor says the film and statements Wilders wrote in Dutch newspapers were hurtful and insulting but not criminal.
A statement Monday by the prosecutor said Wilders made his anti-Muslim remarks in the context of a legitimate debate, and he could not be charged for incitement or discrimination.
Wilders told The Associated Press he was not surprised by the decision because he had stayed within the boundaries of the law.
Wilders' film, titled "Fitna," appeared on the Internet in March. It aroused protests around the Muslim world.

Woman feared abducted in Västerås

Seems to be some similarities between this case and the two in Brussels this past week where women were abducted and raped in plain view of passersby. In all these cases, women were abducted in plane sight, in this case from inside a retail store. In all these cases, there was no initial mention of any physical description of the perps. In all cases, the police "know nothing" but are investigating. Are there perchance religious similarities shared by all the perps?

Woman feared abducted in Västerås

Published: 29 Jun 08 09:43 CET Online:
A woman is feared to have been abducted in Västerås on Saturday evening.

The 25-year-old woman was in a pizzeria in the eastern suburbs of the central Swedish town of Västerås on Saturday evening when three men turned up and appeared to abduct her against her will.

According to a witness the woman became agitated and then scared out of her wits when she saw the men through the window, approaching the restaurant. The restaurant owner was threatened with a gun and had his mobile telephone stolen by one of the men as the group seized the woman and took her with them.

The witness was unable to see if there was a car waiting outside or how the group got away.

The 25-year-old is reported to be a Gothenburg resident, but police had not yet identified the woman early on Sunday morning.

Now health and safety cut number of holes in chip shop salt shakers

Trickle or Treat: Chip shop owner Carol Ackerman shows off an old 17-hole shaker and the new model

I'm putting this up as a comi-tragic situation. The Brit's aren’t just sleepwalking into PC hell, they're working overtime figuring out new ways to destroy their society from within. All Hale the Nanny state. Sink Britannia.

FROM THE DAILYMAIL.CO.UK:

Now health and safety cut number of holes in chip shop salt shakers
By Polly Dunbar

Last updated at 10:38 PM on 28th June 2008

Pot-holed roads, crumbling schools, litter-strewn streets – there’s no shortage of problem areas crying out for their attention.
But councils believe they have found a better use for their money: reducing the number of holes in chip shop salt shakers.
Research has suggested that slashing the holes from the traditional 17 to five could cut the amount people sprinkle on their food by more than half.

And so at least six councils have ordered five-hole shakers – at taxpayers’ expense – and begun giving them away to chip shops and takeaways in their areas.
Leading the way has been Gateshead Council, which spent 15 days researching the subject of salty takeaways before declaring the new five-hole cellars the solution.
Officers collected information from businesses, obtained samples of fish and chips, measured salt content and ‘carried out experiments to determine how the problem of excessive salt being dispensed could be overcome by design’.
They decided that the five-hole pots would reduce the amount of salt being used by more than 60 per cent yet give a ‘visually acceptable sprinkling’ that would satisfy the customer.
The council commissioned Drywite Ltd – a catering equipment company based in the West Midlands – to make five-hole shakers and bought 1,000 of them at a cost of £2,000, giving them away to fast-food outlets in their areas.
Drywite confirms that it has since received orders for the shakers from at least five other councils, including Rochdale Borough in Greater Manchester.
Another giving the shakers away is Labour-controlled Middlesbrough Council, where the idea has run into fierce criticism.
Cllr Chris Hobson, leader of the Conservatives, said: ‘This is just silly, a total waste of money in an area where council tax is very high. I’m all for good health but do they really think they are going to stop people using as much salt simply by putting fewer holes in thecellar? They’ll just shake it for longer.’
Beryl Scott, who owns the Chipchase Chippy in Linthorpe in the city, said a council worker had visited the previous week to explain the merits of less salty fish and chips. ‘He said he had a salt cellar with five holes to give me free.
I thought it was a joke. It doesn’t matter how many holes it has, people are going to put on as much salt as they want.’
Another local chip shop owner, Carol Ackerman, who runs Carol’s Plaice in the suburb of Acklam, said: ‘People will just put on more salt if they want more.
‘In fact, we have had some people unscrewing the lids to do so.’ (emphasis mine-ed.)
Gateshead Council defended its decision. A spokesman said: ‘Research carried out by us discovered customers were often receiving huge quantities of salt with their fish and chips – up to half their daily allowance. The council was so disturbed it decided to commission a manufacturer to produce a salt shaker with fewer holes, which it distributed free to every fish and chip shop and hot food takeaway in Gateshead.
‘We believe the cost to be a small price to pay for potentially saving lives.’
The scheme is being promoted by the Local Authorities Coordinators of Regulatory Services, which is responsible for ensuring councils follow food hygiene rules. A spokesman said: ‘Heart disease costs taxpayers £7billion a year so to say that projects such as this are a waste of money is mind-boggling.’

Human rights complaint against Maclean's dismissed

A very happy Mark Steyn

Happy days are here again. Well, not quite but this is a monumental decision in the war against the islamification of the West. I believe that not only is this the first time the Comission has dismissed a suit for lack of evidence, it's the first time they have not handed down a guilty verdict. Unfortunately, the Commission is still in business and there is a long way to go to guarantee freedom of speech in Canada.

FROM CTV.CA:

Human rights complaint against Maclean's dismissed

Updated Sat. Jun. 28 2008 4:40 PM ET
CTV.ca News Staff
The Canadian Human Rights Commission has dismissed a Muslim group's complaint against Maclean's magazine.
The Canadian Islamic Congress had argued the magazine published an article in October 2006 that would likely expose Muslims to hatred and contempt.
The article, entitled "The Future Belongs to Islam," by Mark Steyn claimed that Muslims are on the verge of dominating Europe and the West because of a demographic shift.
The article claims that their greater numbers will eventually allow Muslims to dominate Western countries. The article goes so far as to quote a European imam who allegedly said Muslims are reproducing like "mosquitoes."
While commentators have said Steyn's demographic claims are way off-base, the CHRC concluded the views in the article, "when considered as a whole and in context, are not of an extreme nature, as defined by the Supreme Court."
Therefore, the Commission said there is no reason to warrant the appointment of a tribunal to look into the matter. In its four page decision, the Commission noted Steyn's "writing is polemical, colourful and emphatic, and was obviously calculated to excite discussion and even offend certain readers, Muslim and non-Muslim alike."
Faisal Joseph, a lawyer for the Canadian Islamic Congress (CIC), said he disagreed with the commission's finding. He said there was "compelling evidence of hate and expert testimony" to support their case, had it been allowed to move forward.
The complainants have argued that Maclean's forced them to act because the magazine wouldn't print their response. They want the magazine to publish a counterpoint.
They've also filed a similar complaint with the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal, which finished hearing the case earlier this month, but has yet to make a ruling. The Ontario Human Rights Commission has said it does not have the jurisdiction to hear a similar case.
On its website, Maclean's released a statement noting satisfaction with the CHRC decision.
"Though gratified by the decision, Maclean's continues to assert that no human rights commission, whether at the federal or provincial level, has the mandate or the expertise to monitor, inquire into, or assess the editorial decisions of the nation's media," said the statement.
"And we continue to have grave concerns about a system of complaint and adjudication that allows a media outlet to be pursued in multiple jurisdictions on the same complaint, brought by the same complainants."
Steyn and others -- including editors at Maclean's -- have said the issue is not the article's merits or its viewpoint. They are concerned that such human rights tribunals could suppress free speech.

‘Taliban killing 30 Shias a day’

This is a case of good news/bad news. Bad news is that human beings continue to kill each other, good news that it's muslims killing muslims. The murderous predilections of the various islamic sects against each other is one of the best hopes for the West to repel the islamic invasion.

FROM THE DAILYTIMES.COM.PK:

‘Taliban killing 30 Shias a day’
By Fareed Farooqui

KARACHI: The Jafferia Alliance of Pakistan (JAP) held protests outside different imambargahs and mosques after Jumma prayers against the killings of Shia Muslims in Kurram Agency and Parachinar.

“The government and democratic forces in the country should take immediate notice of the killings of innocent Shia Muslims in Kurram Agency and Parachinar where the Taliban are regularly killing 20 to 30 people every day,” said Senator Allama Abbas Kumeli, the JAP president, while addressing the main protest outside Masjid Shah-e-Najaf, Martin Quarters, Jamshed Town.

“Leaving more than 500,000 Shias at the mercy of the Taliban is a conspiracy against the country.

We will have a worse situation than Afghanistan if the government, the Pakistan Army and political and religious parties fail to stop the Taliban from spreading terrorism in the area.”

Kumeli said that the Taliban have no concern with Islam or its preaching but are working in the interest of America. They are creating a weak image of Pakistan and, he added, spreading a false image of Islam in the world.

“The government should not give a free hand to the Taliban in the name of a peace agreement but should create a balance, and ensure the rights of people according to the constitution of Pakistan,” he demanded.

Allama Furqan Hyder Abidi warned that the ‘Millat-e-Jafferia’ will call a long march to Parachinar if the government fails to stop the Taliban. Maulana Hussain Masoodi, Allama Aftab Jafferi and others also addressed the protest demonstrations.

Female circumcision a tradition steeped in blood

Another look at the horrendous and barbaric practice of Female Genital Mutilation.

"Then it was my turn. I didn't know what was happening, but it hurt so much I thought that I was going to die. They must have used a knife but I couldn't see it. It felt like having all of your nails ripped off at the same moment. There was no anaesthetic...."

What this article fails to mention is that virtually all Female Genital Mutilation takes place within Islamic society. This is what some factions within Islam want to impose on all of humanity.

FROM THE INDEPENDENT.CO.UK:

Female circumcision a tradition steeped in blood
Brian Brady reports on a police operation to protect more than 20,000 girls, some aged nine or younger, thought to be in danger of forced genital mutilation
Sunday, 22 June 2008

Police are to stage high-profile checks on flights to a number of African states in an attempt to stop young girls being taken abroad to be forcibly mutilated with the consent of their parents.
Research commissioned by the Department of Health suggests that more than 20,000 British girls are at risk of being forced into the agonising procedure, where all or part of their external genitals are cut off and stitched up. Officers will question all adults taking girls on certain flights, believing it is their best chance of saving thousands of children from female genital mutilation at the hands of tribal "elders" called in by their own families.
Moves to tackle the culturally sensitive issue will come as ministers from several government departments struggle to stamp out the ancient tribal tradition amid evidence that thousands of British girls are at risk from a ritual that is supposed to mark their transition into womanhood.
The campaign group the Foundation for Women's Health and Development (Forward UK) estimates that around 11,000 British-based girls aged between nine and 15 have undergone the ritual – in the UK or in their parents' home countries.
The study, the first to gauge the prevalence of the practice in Britain, concluded that at least 66,000 women already living in this country are victims of "female circumcision". Hospitals and clinics across the country have reported an increasing number of women showing evidence of the mutilation, which often has a devastating impact on their health and ability to give birth naturally.

Children as young as five are held down and cut, sometimes with razor blades or broken glass, in a ritual driven by a range of cultural demands, including a desire to demonstrate a girl's virginity on her wedding night. The practice, which survives mainly in 28 countries in East and West Africa, has been targeted as a fundamental human rights violation in recent years by the United Nations and individual states, including the UK.
The World Health Organisation estimates that up to 140 million girls and women around the world have suffered some type of genital mutilation, and around three million girls, most of them under 15, undergo the procedure every year. It is estimated that almost 175,000 women from countries that still practise the procedure now live in England and Wales.
Somalian supermodel Iman, who is married to David Bowie, avoided the mutilation thanks to her parents, who maintained that she had gone to a hospital to have the procedure done when, in fact, she was preparing to go to university. She has spoken out against the practice, like her cousin Waris Dirie. Ms Dirie, who suffered the procedure at the age of five, retired from modelling in 1997 to focus on her work against genital mutilation and was appointed Special Ambassador for the Elimination of Female Genital Mutilation by Kofi Annan, then UN Secretary-General.

She said of her ordeal: "I felt not complete with myself as a woman. Some days I felt so powerless."
Since 1985, Britain has passed two laws banning the practice, and social workers, teachers, police and health officials have been given training in how to recognise and treat victims and children identified as being at risk. But pressure groups and opposition politicians last night warned that the Government was not doing enough to tackle the issue, or even to investigate the true extent of the problem.
Labour MP Ann Clwyd, who pushed through a bill making it illegal to perform the procedure on a British citizen anywhere in the world, complained that it was "an absolute disgrace" that no one had been prosecuted under the new regulations. And Theresa May, the shadow Minister for Women, said the Government did not have an overall national strategy for stamping out the practice.
She said: "It seems this is an area where the Government thinks it could just put down legislation and that would sort it out. But we have had no prosecutions and, in the meantime, ministers have admitted to us that they have not issued any guidance to professionals on what action to take if they find someone who has been a victim."
Police and government officials admit that they are "disappointed" at the failure to prosecute anyone accused of carrying out or aiding and abetting genital mutilation. A £20,000 reward offered last year by the Metropolitan Police in partnership with the Waris Dirie Foundation failed to generate any prosecutions. Senior officers claim this demonstrates the ties of family and community loyalty that keep the practice underground.

READ IT ALL, THEN BE OUTRAGED, THEN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Communications Magic

A salute to our militart personnel. Go troops.

FROM STRATEGYPAGE:

Communications Magic
June 28, 2008: The U.S. military is full of small units full of very competent personnel. These outfits often have long and extraordinary histories, and most of them are essential to the efficient functioning of the American armed forces. But you never hear about these organizations. Once such unit is the Joint Communications Support Element (JCSE). This is a unit of fewer than a thousand troops (half of them air force reservists), that provide quick, world-wide communications in whatever new hot spot the U.S. is involved in. JCSE is the communications emergency squad for the Pentagon, and has been at it since 1961. JCSE can be in the air within hours, and have all manner of communications set up (voice, data, Internet, encrypted) within an hour of reaching their destination. JCSE exists to make sure the Pentagon can communicate effectively with U.S. military personnel wherever they may find themselves.
JCSE is an elite unit, which draws its personnel from all services. If you are good enough, the Pentagon will move you from your current job to JCSE. There's quite a lot of competition among communications technicians of all services to get into JCSE.
The main focus of JCSE personnel is the comm gear they can fit, and operate, into a transport aircraft. The current Joint Airborne Command and Control/Command Post ensemble is designed to fit in the cargo bay of a C-130. This setup is called "Jackpot" and it puts whoever has access to it, in contact with just about everyone in the U.S. government (not just the Department of Defense). JCSE also provides support for other branches of government, as needed. JCSE rarely provides that support for more than a month or two, because JCSE is a "first responder" operation, staying only long enough for more normal communications systems to be set up.
JCSE has performed this first responder function in every war the U.S. has been in since the early 1960s.

A Clean Slate for North Korea

When the White House says it can move "quite soon" believe it. Only Wednesday the White House said it could "take North Korea off a terrorism blacklist "quite soon"" Well, it's quite soon. Just goes to show that politicians can move with lightning quickness when it come to selling out our country.

FROM FRONTPAGEMAG:

A Clean Slate for North Korea

By Jacob Laksin

FrontPageMagazine.com | 6/27/2008
YOU KNOW THE BUSH administration’s North Korea policy is fatally flawed when even Barack Obama, last heard pledging to meet with the world’s dictators “without preconditions,” judges it naïve.
And yet, the presumptive Democratic nominee sounded all too sensible yesterday when he suggested that the Bush administration’s baffling decision to strike Pyongyang from the U.S. list of terrorism-sponsoring states and to lift trade sanctions against the tyrannical regime – in exchange for an alarmingly incomplete “declaration” of its nuclear plants and materials – may have been premature. Concessions to Kim Jong Ill, Obama stressed, should be “based on North Korean performance.”
The Bush administration favors a different metric: wishful thinking. How else to explain that it has generously rewarded North Korea for repeatedly flouting nuclear agreements – not least agreements it has signed with the administration as recently as last fall? Under the terms of an October 2007 agreement, after all, North Korea by the end of last year was supposed to provide a “complete” inventory of its nuclear programs and weaponry while demonstrating that it had shut down its nuclear plants. By the time the deadline arrived on December 31, however, Pyongyang was nowhere near satisfying its obligations under the pact. For that intransigence, it has now been given two gifts by the administration.
This is not the course negotiations were supposed to take. Back in December, State Department officials were warning that North Korea’s failure to come clean would prompt the U.S. “reevaluate and look to other options.” At the time, that sounded like a threat – and a warranted one. In the years before the pact, North Korea had made a menace of itself on the international stage, beginning with its expulsion of U.N. nuclear monitors in late 2002. The following year, North Korea declared itself free from the obligations of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty and restarted the nuclear weapons program it was supposed to have suspended under a 1994 agreement with the Clinton administration.

Russia paying to support Islam

An interesting offer by Russia. Perhaps Russia is supporting Islam, but in return for their $1.5 million they get the folks of ISESCO to come in to headquarters and sign up for a piece of the pie. That's lots cheaper than all the gumshoe work required to identify a group of people.

FROM DHIMMIWATCH:

Russia paying to support Islam

Russia’s ultimate motivation is the deciding factor on whether this is a good or bad move: Is Russia funding “the translation and publication of books on Islam in Russian” in order to objectively learn more about the truths of the religion, or are they simply providing blind “material support for Islamic institutes” which will, no doubt, be turned toward funding the “Islam means Peace” propaganda campaign? "Russia to allocate $1.5 million for support of Islam," from Interfax,
June 26:

Moscow, June 26, Interfax - A project of joint efforts has been signed by Russia's Fund for the Support of Islamic Culture, Science and Education and the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), the fund told Interfax-Religion.
The agreement provides for grants and stipends to students of Russian Islamic institutes for research, the translation and publication of books on Islam in Russian, and for material support to Islamic institutes.

In addition, the agreement provides for international seminars on "The Role of Russia and the Islamic World in Strengthening the Alliance of Civilizations."

Released Guantanamo detainee behind March suicide truck bombing at Combat Outpost Inman in Mosul

Abdullah Salih al Ajmi, a former Guantanamo Bay detainee, was behind the attack on Combat Outpost Inman.

Here's another case of the left insisting on turning a rabid dog loose only to have it attack again. The latest SCOTUS decision to grant foreign combatants, captured on foreign soil is just the beginning of many more cases like this.

(edit) We must stop taking muslims into the military or any government position with access to classified data. We must also remove all those in such positions until they can be vetted for absolute loyalty to the U. S. But when Islam demands that there can be no loyalty for a muslim but to islam, no muslim can be trusted.

Al Qaeda in Iraq, through its puppet organization the Islamic State of Iraq, released its latest propaganda video on June 23. The video contains a montage of attacks throughout Iraq, and features two Kuwaiti al Qaeda operatives who conducted strikes in Mosul. One of the operatives was released from the US military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The Islamic State of Iraq used footage taken at Combat Outpost Inman by this reporter in Mosul in March of this year.
The 38-minute-long video, titled "The Islamic State is Meant to Stay," was produced by Al Furqan, al Qaeda's media arm in Iraq. Al Furqan has released few videos over the past six weeks said Nibras Kazimi, a Visiting Scholar at the Hudson Institute, at his website, Talisman Gate.

The video is the first official al Furqan release since May 30, according to ThreatsWatch.org's
Nick Grace, and the 24th video released in 2008. "By this time last year," he said, "they had produced exactly 90 videos. The rank and file on the Internet have even begun to question whether recent attack 'snuff' videos produced by this outfit are even new or just archival material to keep the appearance of fresh output. U.S. operations against their media cells inside Iraq late last year have had a profound impact."

Former U.S. officer training Hamas military

Former U.S. officer training Hamas military

GAZA CITY — U.S. volunteers with military backgrounds have been recruited to help train the new Hamas army in the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian sources said one of the Americans was former U.S. Army captain Fares Al Ashi, Middle East Newsline reported.
"This information is important for the youth," Al Ashi said during a briefing to visiting journalists in Gaza City.
The sources said Al Ashi, a specialist in explosives and weapons, had been trained in South Carolina during his years with the U.S. military.
Also In This Edition

"We give them general information about the explosives, those manufactured locally and the Israeli ones, because those people always reach the dangerous places before we, the bomb squad, do."
Al Ashi and the other Americans were said to have been identified as Muslims who joined the U.S. military in the 1990s. The sources said the Americans relayed U.S. military methods and training to Hamas for its war against Israel.
The Hamas army has been equipped and trained by Iran. But Palestinian sources said some Muslims in the United States have provided funding and expertise to the new Hamas regime and military.
In May 2008, Hamas police launched a police training program assisted by the U.S. trainers. The four-month training course has been directed by Maj. Khalil Hejo and seven other officers.
"In the past, a brigadier general used to run this administration in addition to 250 officer trainers, but now, seven trainers and I oversee the whole program," Hejo said.

NKorea May Come Off Terror List: White House

Give me a break.

FROM NEWSMAX.COM:

NKorea May Come Off Terror List: White House

WASHINGTON -- The White House said Wednesday that it could move to take North Korea off a terrorism blacklist "quite soon" after - and if - the North delivers an accounting of its nuclear programs.

Just an accounting? Who will verify the accounting?

Washington hoped the secretive Stalinist nation would provide its long overdue "declaration" as early as Thursday, although a senior US official has already said that an inventory of Pyongyang's atomic arsenal will come later.

Oh, OK the inventory will come "later", after the Norks have sucked every concession they can in the meantime.

Asked how quickly a full accounting would trigger removal from the US list of state sponsors of terrorism, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino replied: "We'll have to wait and see. It could be quite soon if that were to happen."

In other words, just as soon as State can push this through.

"We just don't know if they're actually going to do it," said Perino.

Of course they will, it's just a piece of paper that will delude the clueless State Department into believing all is well.

Washington also plans to remove North Korea from the Trading with the Enemy Act, a law restricting trade with countries hostile to the United States, leaving Cuba as the only country affected by that legislation.
Sure, why not? And why not make them full trading partners and give them a guided tour through the Pentagon while we're at it?

Separately, US President George W. Bush sought to dampen anger from close ally Japan, which says Pyongyang must first come clean on abductions of Japanese nationals, in a telephone call with Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda.
Bush stressed that he grasped "the importance of the abductee issue," said Perino, who indicated that resolving the matter would not be a precondition for taking North Korea off the terrorism list.

Too bad Japs. This gesture of subservience to a despotic meglomanic is much more important than a few Japanese citizens.

Perino said the US position had not changed since US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice signaled in a mid-June speech that Bush could move to take North Korea off the two blacklists upon receipt of the declaration. ]
Way to go Condi, give away the farm for a scrap of paper. "Peace in our time" anyone?

Under US law, Bush would notify the US Congress he planned to take Pyongyang off the terrorism list, triggering a 45-day review period, during which, Rice said, the United States would assess the declaration for accuracy.

Assess the declaration for accuracy? Just WTF does that mean?

US congressional sources said they expected no widespread opposition to the move, but that key lawmakers would likely call hearings on the nuclear dispute.

There better be some wide spread opposition the this sellout.

The North was put on the list in 1988 after its agents were found to have bombed a South Korean airliner the previous year, killing all 115 people on board.
And Pyongyang has admitted to being involved in the abduction of foreign citizens, mainly Japanese citizens, in the past.
The terror designation prevents the impoverished state from receiving US economic aid and blocks loans from the World Bank and other multilateral organizations.
Remaining US statutory sanctions on North Korea include those affecting trade in military, dual-use, and missile-related items, while most forms of US economic assistance, other than purely humanitarian assistance, are prohibited.

Well, gee, that's reassuring, seeing as how the Norks have never honoired anything they have ever promised.

There are also UN sanctions against North Korea, including those imposed after it tested a nuclear bomb in October 2006.
The declaration -- which is almost six months overdue -- will list all nuclear material, facilities and programs, while its weapons will be dealt with in the next phase, US chief negotiator Christopher Hill said this week.

Just like every other list of lies.

Asked why Washington would move to lift sanctions without that information, Perino said that China, Japan, Russia, South Korea, the United States had weapons experts on the ground and "so I think that we have to have faith."

I feel much better now.

The declaration will be the latest step in six-nation talks which have dragged on since 2003. Some analysts see them going on for years, as negotiators try to persuade the secretive state to give up its weapons.
One day after submitting its declaration, the North is set to topple its nuclear cooling tower at the Yongbyon atomic complex the tower in the presence of a senior US diplomat and foreign TV crews as a symbol of its commitment to the process.

What about the other nuclear facilities?
It just goes on and on.

Iran: Flogging an effective deterrent, says senior official

More from the tolerant and peaceful Iranian ruling class. Of course, some floggings are followed by hanging, which is even a better deterrent. Deterrent to what you may ask? Why deterrence to anything the mullahs don't like.

FROM ADNKRONOS.COM:

Iran: Flogging an effective deterrent, says senior official

Tehran, 26 June (AKI) - Iran's highest judicial authority, Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi, says public flogging is an effective criminal deterrent, while imprisonment is a useless punishment.

In an interview broadcast on state TV on Wednesday night, the head of the country's Judicial Authority complained that "many Iranian judges, influenced by western propaganda and fearing they will be accused of failing to respect human rights, are not sentencing offenders to effective penalties like public flogging".

"Public flogging is one of most just sentences that can be inflicted on someone who has committed a crime," said Shahroudi.

"The publication of photos and news of public floggings is the best deterrent, while three or four months in prison has no effect," he said.

"We must reduce prison sentences and make use of public flogging more to punish offenders."

Last month, rights group Amnesty International urged Iranian courts to suspend flogging sentences.

"Flogging is a form of cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment, which amounts to torture," the organisation said.

Amnesty said it was outlawed under Article 7 of the United Nations International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

In its latest report, Amnesty International said sentences of flogging and amputation continued to be implemented in Iran, and torture and ill-treatment were widespread in prisons and detention centres.

IRAN: CONVERT COUPLE ARRESTED, TORTURED, THREATENED

This is what the Iranian's have in store for the west.

FROM COMPASSDIRECT.ORG:

IRAN: CONVERT COUPLE ARRESTED, TORTURED, THREATENED
Officers seize Christians from their home, leaving ill 4-year-old girl unattended.

LOS ANGELES, June 25 (Compass Direct News) – Security police officials in Tehran this month tortured a newly converted couple and threatened to put their 4-year-old daughter in an institution after arresting them for holding Bible studies and attending a house church.
A Christian source in Iran said that 28-year-old Tina Rad was charged with “activities against the holy religion of Islam” for reading the Bible with Muslims in her home in east Tehran and trying to convert them. Officials charged her husband, 31-year-old Makan Arya, with “activities against national security” after seizing the couple from their home on June 3, forcing them to leave their 4-year-old daughter ill and unattended.
Authorities kept them in an unknown jail for four days, which left them badly bruised from beatings, with Rad “very ill” and unable to walk, said the source. Rad was released on bail of US$30,000 bail, and her husband was freed on payment of US$20,000.
“The next time there may also be an apostasy charge, if you don’t stop with your Jesus,” a female security police officer told Rad during interrogation, according to the source. Under Iran’s strict Islamic laws, Muslims who convert from Islam to another religion can be executed.
A draft law before the Iranian parliament would make the death penalty mandatory for “apostates” who leave Islam.

“They went to a court hearing just for show,” the source said, “as secret police had already taken their signatures by force with a statement that they had not changed their religion.”
The charges, however, are still open, said the source, a close friend of the couple.
The female security police official warned Rad that if she and her husband continued attending a house church and holding Bible studies, they could be imprisoned “for a very long time” and would lose their daughter, Odzhan Arya. An officer also told Rad that authorities could concoct a drug case against them, “and you will be punished as drug smugglers.”
A male security police official also threatened Rad, who along with her husband received Christ as savior about three months ago, the source said.
“He told Tina during the interrogation that if she doesn’t cooperate and tell some names and addresses, she won’t see her daughter for a long time,” the source said. “They said, ‘Next time if we catch you, you are going to miss your whole family forever.’”
An officer also told Arya that authorities could place his daughter “in a protected religious institution.”
The charge against Arya of “activities against national security” was based on his allowing Bible sessions with Muslims in his apartment and trying to go to the house church, the source said.
Confirmation from the couple’s denomination of their arrest and mistreatment was not immediately available.

Forced Statements

The couple was forced to sign a statement, the source said, that they wouldn’t go back to their house church and that they would have no contact with other Christians – and that if they did, “they will be punished by the law of Islam.”
The charges and forced statements seem to contravene the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, to which Iran is a party, giving it the force of law. Article 18 of the covenant stipulates that everyone shall have the right to adopt a religion or belief, as well as freedom individually or in community in public or private to manifest one’s religion or belief in worship, observance, practice and teaching.
The couple would forfeit their bail and their freedom if secret religious police catch them engaged in Christian activities, they were told in the court before their release.
“They were tortured psychologically and physically,” the source said. “There are a lot of blue places on their bodies. Tina can’t walk well and is very ill, and her husband Makan is still very shocked.”
The couple was arrested after a relative of Arya informed security police of the couple’s Christian activities. According to the friend of the couple, officers confiscated their personal computer, satellite dish and television set, as well as all books, videos, CDs, DVDs and even a photo album.
“Tina is very sick, and because of the pain on the right side of her head from the torture, and the shock of the whole situation, she can’t leave the house and their daughter,” the source said. “She knows for sure that they are monitored in all their communications.”
Societal Hostilities
Following their arrest, the husband and wife also suffered at the hands of family and area Muslims.
In order to make the bail payments, Arya obtained financial help from his father – on the condition that he promise to divorce his wife.
“So he did [promise], and now of course he refuses to divorce,” the source said. “So his father gave him an ultimatum. There is discrimination even in the family against them.”

After their release, the couple found the window of their clothing shop had been smashed.
“Almost the whole street knows about them, so imagine how difficult their business is,” said the source. “They want to change the shop and go somewhere else. Every day and night they get some calls from unknown people, and their life at this moment is under invisible and visible surveillance.”

On Monday (June 23) Arya received letters at both the clothing shop and his home stating that he must place evidence on his new window pane indicating his Islamic faith by displaying a statement and photos, or else he would have to buy a new window every day.
The source said Arya displayed a photo of Islamic leaders on the window, “but they want to go somewhere else.”
Arya went to area police asking for protection, the source said, “but they told him not to lie and to ‘go do something about it if you are a real believer of Islam.’”

Don't Catch-Kill

Now here's a solution to the "can't be mean to a terrorist" problem.

FROM FRONTPAGEMAG:

Don't Catch-Kill

By Ralph Peaters
New York Post | 6/26/2008
The first beneficiary of Barack Obama's promise to expand health-care access could be Osama bin Laden.
The senator would rather see Osama captured, not killed, then put into our federal system for trial. That means the terror master would get better medical treatment - for free - than many Post readers can afford.
Is that really what Americans want? To spend millions of dollars protecting a captive bin Laden and millions more treating his kidney problems?
Is that an effective reply to 9/11? Does it pass any common-sense test?
Recent events should have made it clear - again - that captive terrorists are overwhelmingly a liability. The meager intelligence we get interrogating them is rarely commensurate with the array of financial, moral and legal costs involved in keeping them locked up.
Worst of all (as I've repeatedly argued), a jailed terrorist, not a dead one, is the true "martyr." Incarcerated terrorists become celebrated causes for our domestic left and rallying points for foreign fanatics. The dead just rot.
A few weeks ago, a well-planned terrorist assault on a prison in Kandahar, Afghanistan, freed dozens of Taliban midlevel managers and perhaps 200 terrorist foot soldiers.
What benefit had we gained by taking these butchers prisoner instead of killing them on the battlefield? They merely lived to fight another day.
Almost simultaneously, our Supreme Court ruled that terrorists who slaughter Americans should enjoy legal protections meant for US citizens. I respect and admire the Supremes, but this decision drives home the truism that "Only God is perfect."
A dead terrorist is a good terrorist. Keeps costs down, too.
To be clear: I do not advocate executing prisoners. We should treat any terrorist we capture rigorously, but with basic decency. I would only condone forceful interrogation methods in the most exceptional cases (there are always exceptions in real life, once you leave the rarefied air of the law library or the campus).
But it is my belief that our conventional military and special-operations efforts should emphasize killing terrorists on the battlefield or in their lairs - conditions where it is entirely legal to do so. Taking these murderers prisoner should be an accident, not a goal.
Once a terrorist raises his hands in surrender, we must honor the pertinent conventions. But effective military and intelligence operations shouldn't give him the chance to wave a white rag.
Certainly, we should do all we sensibly can to avoid harming the innocent. Effective targeting demands sound intelligence work (ours has gotten much better). And, once in a great while, we'll decide that a senior terrorist should be taken alive for interrogation.
But the left-wing arguments against killing those who do all they can to kill us are simply wrong. You can kill your way out of terrorist challenges - it's been done countless times through the centuries. (That's what's happening to Al Qaeda in Iraq today.)
And killing terrorists doesn't put us on a "slippery slope." Killing Osama or Ayman al-Zawahiri wouldn't inevitably mean that our Special Forces would then turn to assassinating Iowa aldermen or Alabama church deacons.
The greatest left-wing fallacy in the War on Terror is the conviction that protecting the rights of terrorists is more important than protecting the rights of the innocent. It is utterly wrong to imagine that, by according exaggerated legal protections to terrorists, we strengthen the legal basis of our society.
Our government's basic justification for existing is the protection of its own citizens.
There is nothing heroic or noble about defending a fanatical mass murderer's "rights." The nobility lies in protecting the masses of innocent human beings who obey the law. When anyone chooses the path of terror, he or she leaps beyond all constitutional guarantees.
Over and over again, our military has found that escaped or released terrorist prisoners kill again. And hard-core terrorists can't be rehabilitated: The redemption of human monsters is a myth.
No terrorist captured abroad should ever set foot on American soil. No terrorist taken overseas should ever enter a US courtroom. And no terrorist of any kind should ever receive free health care that working Americans can't afford for their families.
No special diets, either. Let 'em eat corn dogs.
The greatest weapon we could apply to fighting terrorists is common sense.

Afghanistan: Death penalty call for man who spread Koran translation

This is incredible. It's like watching a gut shot hyena attack it's own entrails in a frenzy of hatred. Once again, Muslim attacks Muslim in the name of: I'm Holier than Thou and I'll kill you to prove it.

FROM ADNKRONOS.ORG:

Afghanistan: Death penalty call for man who spread Koran translation

Karachi, 23 June (AKI) - (by Syed Saleem Shahzad) - An Afghan journalist accused of distributing an unacceptable translation of the Koran should be put to death, says former Prime Minister Ahmad Shah Ahmadzai.

Former journalist Ghows Zalmay, who was also the spokesman for Afghanistan's Attorney-General, was arrested in November last year for distributing a translation of the Koran into Dari, one of Afghanistan's two official languages.

Ahmadzai, who ran in the 2004 presidential election against current President Hamid Karzai, told Adnkronos International (AKI) he supported the death penalty for Zalmay.

"Today Afghanistan is full of vices. Several Afghan restaurants serve liquor, despite it being illegal and on top of it, such material is distributed," Ahmadzai told AKI.

"I am in favour of his death."

Muslim scholars in Afghanistan reportedly said that the new version of the Koran misinterpreted verses about alcohol, begging, homosexuality and adultery. They also complained that this version was not accompanied by the original version of the Koran in Arabic.

Ghows, 50, is reportedy in jail after being accused of blasphemy and his lawyers say he risks the death penalty. He is expected to face charges in an Afghan court within the next week.

"This is all an American conspiracy to deviate Afghans from their faith," said Al-Hajj Farooq Hussaini, the leader of a Muslim prayer association in the western city of Herat in an interview with Adnkronos International (AKI).

"They want us to be converted Christians or simply atheists. This American occupation of Afghanistan is worse than the occupation of Afghanistan by the Soviets," he said.

Hussaini also referred to the case of Abdul Rahman, an Afghan Christian convert who was granted asylum in Italy in 2006. Rahman escaped a possible death sentence in Afghanistan for becoming a Christian.

"Earlier they protected Abdul Rahman who left Islam and converted to Christianity and now they are encouraging the distribution of the fake translations of Koran," said Hussaini who is also the leader of a group led by Ismail Khan, Afghanistan's Energy Minister.

"Ghows Zalmay should be given an exemplary punishment for his crime," he said.

Many Muslim bloggers have labelled some new translations of the Koran, as the "American Koran", which they say is unauthentic and aimed at distracting Muslims from their faith.

Muggles Report Army Magic

Here's another military innovation that can also be used by the Border Patrol.

FROM STRATEGYPAGE.COM:

Muggles Report Army Magic

June 24, 2008: This month, another intelligence project in Iraq got some unwelcome attention. The mass media discovered "Task Force Odin", and the use of manned and UAV aerial reconnaissance aircraft to find IEDs (roadside bombs), and the people who plant them. Fortunately, most of the important details were left out. Writing a news story, about pattern analysis and data mining, for a mass audience, is generally not even attempted. So the reporting about Task Force Odin concentrated on aircraft and UAVs watching the roads for signs of IEDs, and UAVs, helicopters and gunships opening fire on terrorists trying to set up roadside bombs. Explosions and dead bodies have long been a mass media staple, and the lack of such action in Iraq lately has led to a sharp decline in reporting from there. So the U.S. Army appreciated the attention to one of their more successful programs, especially since the reporters left out much discussion of the more important aspects.

What the Task Force Odin stories were really covering were two very different technologies in development. On the one hand (and more easily reported) was the effort to provide Internet like access to live video feeds from aircraft and UAVs. The U.S. Air Force and SOCOM (Special Operations Command) have been particularly keen on this, and has shared the technology with the other services, and friendly nations. The less publicized effort was Constant Hawk. This was a U.S. Army image analysis system that's basically just another pattern analysis system. However, it's been a very successful system. Last year, the U.S. Army named Constant Hawk one of the top ten inventions of the year. The army does this to give some of the more obscure, yet very valuable, developments some well deserved recognition.

Pattern analysis is one of the fundamental tools Operations Research (OR) practitioners have been using since World War II (when the newly developed field of OR got its first big workout). Pattern analysis is widely used on Wall Street, by engineers, law enforcement, marketing specialists, and now, the military. Constant Hawk uses a special video camera system to observe a locality and find useful patterns of behavior. Some of the Constant Hawk systems are mounted on light aircraft, others are mounted on ground structures. Special software compares photos from different times. When changes are noted, they are checked more closely, which has resulted in the early detection of thousands of roadside bombs and terrorist ambushes. This has largely eliminated roadside bomb attacks on supply convoys, which travel the same routes all the time. But those routes are also watched by Constant Hawk. No matter what the enemy does, the Hawk will notice. Eventually, the Hawk, and several other efforts, morphed into Task Force Odin.

Constant Hawk, like most geek stuff, does not get a lot of media attention. Mainly it's the math, and TV audiences that get uneasy watching a geek trying to explain this stuff in something resembling English. But the geeekery works, and the troops want more of it. The troops like tools of this sort mainly because the systems retain photos of areas they have patrolled, and allows them to retrieve photos of a particular place on a particular day. Often, the troops returning from, or going out on a patrol, can use the pattern analysis skills we all have, to spot something suspicious, or potentially so.

A related math tool is predictive analysis. This has been widely used in Iraq to determine who the bombers are, where they are, and where they are most likely to place their bombs next. This has enabled the geeks-with-guns (the Army OR specialists) to offer regular "weather reports" about expected IED activity. The troops take these reports very seriously, especially by those who run the hundreds of daily convoys that move people and supplies around Iraq. If your route is predicted to be "hot", you pay extra attention that day, and often spot IEDs that, as predicted, were there. Usually, the predictions are used to send the engineers and EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) teams out to scout and clean the route. It's the feedback from these guys that has brought the geeks their reputation. If the geeks, and their tools (computers, aerial images, and math), say there is something bad out there, they are generally right. For the geeks, it's all pretty obvious. Given enough data, you can predict all sorts of things, or just about anything, really. But to many people, including most reporters, it's all still magic. Task Force Odin is the latest name for an effort that has been going on for over four years, and traces its origins back to World War II, and the invention of Operations Research in the decade before that.

Malaysian city reminds Muslim women to avoid bright lipstick, high heels

I guess Osama's niece would have a problem in Maylasia.

FROM JPOST.COM:

Malaysian city reminds Muslim women to avoid bright lipstick, high heels

Authorities in a northern Malaysian city are calling on Muslim women not to wear bright lipstick and noisy high-heel shoes if they want to follow the "Islamic way," an official said Tuesday.
The municipal council in Kota Baru, run by a conservative Islamic party, is distributing pamphlets that recommend women refrain from wearing heavy makeup, including bright lipstick, and loud high-heel shoes to work, council spokesman Azman Mohamad Daham said.
"We just distribute pamphlets. Our minimum guideline is they must wear headscarves," he said. "The rest is up to them. If they want to follow the 100 percent Islamic way, it's up to them."
He said the suggestions aim to prevent rape and protect women's dignity and morals. The campaign started in 2006, but new pamphlets are circulated each year, he said.
Kota Baru is the capital of Kelantan state, which is ruled by the conservative opposition Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party.

Amnesty warns of reckless deportation

So what? According to Amnesty International no terrorist could ever even scolded because it might give him a boo boo. Here's a solution: Pair every terrorist with an Amnesty official to take home and make that official responsible for the actions of the terrorist. If the terrorist commits more terrorism, the official would be deported to the terrorist's country of origin, and the terrorist dealt with on the spot.

FROM COPENHAGENPOST.DK:

Amnesty warns of reckless deportation

The deportation of two Tunisian men accused of planning to murder cartoonist Kurt Westergaard would be an irresponsible act by the Danish government said Amnesty International
It would go against Denmark's international obligations if the two Tunisian men accused of planning to murder Kurt Westergaard were deported, according to a new report by human rights organisation Amnesty International.
The two Tunisian men face an administrative deportation to their home country after they allegedly planned to murder the cartoonist behind the Mohammed drawings. The administrative deportation should mean that they will not be at risk of torture in Tunisia, but Amnesty's new report says otherwise.
Amnesty documents hundreds of cases of torture and abuse in its new report 'In the name of security: Routine abuses in Tunisia'. It says that at least 977 Tunisians have been sentenced under anti-terror laws since 2006. It also says that many civilians have been sentenced in military courts with a minimum amount of evidence.
A letter from Amnesty International was sent to the Danish Justice Ministry last week warning the government not to compromise the UN Convention against Torture and violate human rights by sending the men to a country that routinely ignores its promises to treat returned deportees fairly.
'It is clear to anybody that it is completely irresponsible to deport the Tunisian citizens under the current circumstances, where there is an impending risk of torture and abuse,' said Eva Hesse of the Danish branch of Amnesty. (kr)

IRAN'S NUKE WILL ISRAEL SAVE THE WORLD?

Again, Atlas does yeoman service in the fight against global jihad. Read it all:

FROM ATLAS SHRUGS:

IRAN'S NUKE: WILL ISRAEL SAVE THE WORLD?
Israelis surely don't welcome a war in which they will suffer. Yet they have no choice but to defend themselves against an enemy that vows to obliterate them if Iran acquires the weapon to do so. The tragic paradox of the past six years is that the diplomatic and intelligence evasions offered in the name of avoiding war with Iran have done the most to bring us close to this brink. Appeasement that ends in war is a familiar theme of history.(today's Wall Street Journal)
BOLTON WEIGHS IN
Bolton: Israel could decide to attack Iran during Bush's term or wait for successorYesterday on FOX News, John Bolton suggested that Israel would have to decide whether to attack Iran before Bush left office or wait for his successor. He also added that: "I don't think you'd hear the Arab states say this publicly, but they would be delighted if the United States or Israel destroyed the Iranian nuclear weapons capability." (hat tip Paul)
The Wall Street Journal believes Israel's recent military exercises were the dress rehearsal for an Iran on Irna's nuclear of mass annihilation.

ISRAEL ON THE IRAN BRINK

Wall Street Journal
Israel isn't famous for welcoming public scrutiny of its most sensitive military plans. But we doubt Jerusalem officials were dismayed to see news of their recent air force exercises splashed over the front pages of the Western press.
Those exercises – reportedly involving about 100 fighters, tactical bombers, refueling planes and rescue helicopters – were conducted about 900 miles west of Israel's shores in the Mediterranean. Iran's nuclear facilities at Bushehr, Isfahan and Natanz all fall roughly within the same radius, albeit in the opposite direction. The point was not lost on Tehran, which promptly warned of "strong blows" in the event of a pre-emptive Israeli attack.
The more important question is whether the meaning of Israel's exercise registered in Western capitals. It's been six years since Iran's secret nuclear programs were publicly exposed, and Israel has more or less bided its time as the Bush Administration and Europe have pursued diplomacy to induce Tehran to cease enriching uranium.
It hasn't worked. Iran has rejected repeated offers of technical and economic assistance, most recently this month. Despite four years of pleading, the Administration has failed to win anything but weak U.N. sanctions. Russia plans to sell advanced antiaircraft missiles to Iran and finish work on a nuclear reactor at Bushehr, though spent fuel from that reactor could eventually be diverted and reprocessed into weapons-usable plutonium. Chinese companies still invest in Iran, while the U.N.'s chief nuclear inspector, Mohamed ElBaradei, has repeatedly downplayed Iran's nuclear threat.(read the while thing here)

There's a lot of analysis but I tend to agree with Debka as does Van who sent this, "Although I am hawkish on an Iran attack, I'm not 100%. Yet. There are so many options, but none are good. TIME is the issue that works against the West. They are stalling and we know it. They are winning that game. If we wait till Iran goes nuclear, the degree of difficulty goes up exponentially, if not impossibly".

Exclusive: Israel's air maneuver did not simulate possible Iran strike strategy
DEBKA hat tipVan
DEBKAfile's Western military sources do not believe that if Israel does attack Iran's nuclear facilities, it will resort to the old-fashioned aerial blitz tactic employed in 1981 for bombing Iraq's Osirak reactor. They therefore challenge the US officials' conclusion that Israel's aerial exercise in conjunction with the Greek Air Force over Crete in early June was in fact a rehearsal for Iran. CONTD...

Meir Dagan, whose term of office as head of Israel's external intelligence service, Mossad, Prime Minister Ehud Olmet extended June 22 by a year to the end of 2009, directed the intelligence-gathering effort for the attack on Syria's North Korean plutonium reactor Sept. 6, 2007. He may now be entrusted with the most vital mission ever laid on this 60-year old clandestine service: the undercover groundwork for contending with the greatest existential threat faced by the Jewish state: a nuclear-armed Iran. CONTD...
"Mr. ElBaradei predicted this weekend that such an attack would turn the Middle East into a "ball of fire," yet his own apologies for Iran and the West's diplomatic failures are responsible for bringing the region to this pass. They have convinced the mullahs that the powers responsible for maintaining world order lack the will to stop Iran".
What a time to have the weakest leadership at the helm of the Jewish state, with the whole of the Islamic world (with the complicity and assistance of the left) bent on its annihilation.

The men, and possibly one or more women, enter the tribal areas as tourists, but are later spotted travelling with known Islamic terrorists.

Several European converts to Islam have been arrested, in Europe, in the last year, for taking part in plots to carry out terrorist attacks. Al Qaeda has long discussed the advantages of training European and American converts to be terrorists. No American converts are known to be taking part in this training program.

Gaza source: Militants to use lull for Islam workshops, expect Israel to violate truce
Ali Waked

Palestinian gunmen in Gaza are holding their fire, but they have no illusion as to Israel's intention to violate the latest truce, a source in one of the Palestinian groups in the Strip told Ynet Friday.

"The fighters have gone back to their homes, to their studies, and to their families, yet their eyes shall remain open for the moment where the Israelis will decide, as always, to violate the lull," he said. "We have no illusion that once their interests dictate it, the Jews will violate the lull. They are known as people who violate agreements and cannot be trusted."

Despite truce deal, Haniyeh says putting an end to smuggling beyond Hamas' ability

According to the source, members of the various Gaza groups will attempt to enjoy a normal life in the coming days, but will also take the opportunity to take part in religion workshops, (where they will be exorted to die for Allah by the imams-ed.) which he said will help them on the battlefield as well.

"This is the way to explain to the fighter how to conduct himself on the battlefield, how and when to pray while on mission, whether one is allowed to pray when holding a gun…we teach those things so that under any condition the fighters will be able to maintain their religion and prayer, yet at the same time be ready to confront the enemy," he said.

As opposed to lower-ranking field operatives, senior wanted figures will have to remain on guard despite the truce, the source said.

"They have to adopt all precautions at this time as well, because the collaborators and the enemy's eyes will continue to work during the lull too," he said. "A lull does not mean the occupation is over or that the enemy changed its treacherous nature…therefore, training sessions won't end and we shall continue to train and arm ourselves as usual."

Iran: University protests over sexual abuse

Female Iranian college student catches dean with his pants down. Woman arrested. This is Islam.

FROM ADNKRONOS.COM:

Iran: University protests over sexual abuse

Tehran, 20 June (AKI) - Students at Iran's Zanjan University outside Tehran have been protesting for more than a week over the alleged sexual abuse of a student by a university dean in charge of campus morality.

While the deputy head of the university remains free, the young woman has been arrested.

The student was said to have been offered several sexual advances by the deputy head of the university, under pressure, she agreed, and in collussion with other students she went to the prearranged 'meeting' at the deputy head's office with a recording device.

While the dean was undressing, the students burst into his office, caught him half naked and then alerted university security. The video then circulated on the internet for days.

While a spokesman for the university announced the female student's arrest, it is not clear what charges she faces.

The Minister for Science, Mohammad Mehdi Zahedi, condemned the students' actions and above all accused the students of "spreading pornographic images" referring to the filming of the "moraliser" without his shirt.

"This type of action is contrary to the ethics of Islam," said the minister.
