We have received this article from an Indian writer now living in the USA, partly as a result of the recent publicity generated by the events in Oxford on Monday (26th) where a violent left-wing mob, chanting death threats to the BNP leader and the President of the Oxford Union, tried to prevent a perfectly lawful and peaceful debate taking place inside the Union.

Publicity has been global and emails have been received in the past 48hrs from well wishers on every continent expressing their profound astonishment that this revered centre of education had to endure such a situation. Many observers who have no first hand experience of daily life in Britain passionately believe that this country is a bastion of democracy and a champion of free speech and they want their own countries to aspire towards. In reality mob rule and State repression are as much a part of 21st century Britain as they are in states run by despots and tyrants.
