I cobble together a verse comedy about the customs of the harem, assuming that, as a Spanish writer, I can say what I like about Mohammed without drawing hostile fire. Next thing, some envoy from God knows where turns up and complains that in my play I have offended the Ottoman empire, Persia, a large slice of the Indian peninsula, the whole of Egypt, and the kingdoms of Barca [Ethiopia], Tripoli, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco. And so my play sinks without trace, all to placate a bunch of Muslim princes, not one of whom, as far as I know, can read but who beat the living daylights out of us and say we are “Christian dogs.” Since they can't stop a man thinking, they take it out on his hide instead.

Sadly, today, over two centuries later, Dutch Parliamentarian Geert Wilders’ free speech rights are under attack in an effort to appease the same irredentist Muslim attitudes—attitudes which are devoid of self-criticism, and violently opposed to any criticism of Islam by non-Muslim “infidels.”
Wilders’ film Fitna — the putative source of this Muslim outrage—includes examples of how various Koranic verses are used by Muslim clerics and political leaders to incite Muslim populations to violence. And Fitna is entirely faithful to classical, mainstream Islamic exegesis on the Koranic verses cited in the film regardless of what cultural jihadists, and their witting or unwitting apologists and abettors, may claim. It is beyond Orwellian to vilify, let alone prosecute Wilders – who simply holds up a mirror to Islamic societies – for being in any way responsible for the Koranic incitement and Muslim violence his documentary faithfully records, and he appropriately condemns.

Moreover, Geert Wilders is opposed to hate speech laws. On February 19, 2009, in Rome, Italy where he received the Oriana Fallaci Free Speech Award, Wilders proposed the withdrawal of all hate speech legislation in Europe, and a European First Amendment.

That is why I propose the withdrawal of all hate speech legislation in Europe. I propose a European First Amendment. Freedom of speech is the keystone of our Western civilization, it is the keystone of our democracies and the keystone of our freedom. That is why freedom of speech should be extended instead of restricted. Salman Rushdie’s ‘The Satanic Verses’, Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s and Theo van Gogh’s film ‘Submission’, Kurt Westergaard’s cartoons and my documentary ‘Fitna’ should never be banned, but should be protected. As George Orwell once said: “If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear”.

Islam triumphs yet again in the UK -- this timeat the hands of Lord Nazi (if you get your arms around that, you are a better man than I)Ahmed. The screening fo FITNA has been canceled in the UK.

The decision to cancel the showing was taken on Friday when Lord Nazir Ahmed had a meeting with the Government Chief Whip of the House of Lords and Leader of the House of Lor ds, together with representatives from the Muslim Council of Britain, British Muslim Forum and other representatives from the British Muslim community.
THUG RULE: BLACKMAIL CANCELED
As a result of the meeting at the House of Lords not going ahead, all protests and demonstrations have now been cancelled Lord Ahmed termed the decision as “a victory for the Muslim community.”

Just for knowing, Lord Nazi killed an innocent man by driving carelessly (texting at speed on a motorway). Why hasn't he been sentenced? In December 2008, Lord Nazi pleaded guilty to a charge of dangerous driving, which carries a maximum sentence of two years in prison. Instead of rotting in prison as he should be, he is tearing down the very fabric of free civilization. Worse still , the British dhimmis are caving to his demands.

In 2007 he responded to the award of a knighthood to Salman Rushdie
by claiming he was appalled, stating that Rushdie had 'blood on his hands'.
Lord Nazir is (in)famous for his claim right after 911 that his phone was tapped but the British government because he was against going into Afghanistan to rid that country of the Taliban and their terror training camps.

Lord Nazi strongly backs the jihad and "the right of determination of the people of Kashmir". Earlier in 2001 the Indian Overseas Congress accused him of trying to incite unrest among British Muslims when he backed a plan for a "peace bus" to publicise the issues behind the conflict in India-administered Kashmir.

Lord Ahmed also called for an investigation into the alleged recruitment of British Muslims to fight in so-called "holy wars". He argued the facts behind such claims had to be established for the "British Muslims' sakes". That illustrated his concern that whole communities were wrongly being blamed for being part of jihad activity. Such fears over damaging labels were displayed too when he led calls for a new law against religious discrimination in 1999. The bugging claims are, therefore, only the latest example of Lord Ahmed hitting the political limelight. (more here)

Nothing makes people want to see something more than banning it, or even better yet, telling them they may not be able to handle it (remember the Blair Witch Project?). On that basis, the new film Fitna, must be pulling in internet viewers by the tens of millions.
Everyone who’s anyone in the “world community”, from the Dutch Prime Minister to the OIC to the EU to the UN, is telling the world this is mighty hateful stuff.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is denouncing the internet premier of Fitna, claiming,

“The right of free expression is not at stake here,”

But Ban seems to imply there may be limits,

“...there is no justification for hate speech or incitement to violence.”

Oddly he was talking about the movie, not the Islamic violence portrayed in it, or that which is feared in response to it. In doing so, Ban places the UN at the head of the Islamic mobs which do indeed put the right of free expression at stake here.

Fitna, Arabic for “strife” or “disturbance”, is the work of filmmaker and Dutch Member of Parliament Geert Wilders. Wilders point is clear: Islamist terror is neither a distortion nor a departure from Koranic teaching. Terrorists are following the instructions of the Koran to the letter.

Here is a look at Fitna by Larry Houle. He's left several comments on this blog which I tend to agree with. I agree with most of his criticism that Fitna could have included much more material, but at the same time Geert Wilders could only include so much material in his movie.

The important thing in my mind is that the movie was made and released despite much opposition. More movies like Fitna need to be made to let the Muslim population know that they do not yet rule the world. More "Fitna's" would also stimulate discussion in the Western world and inform the Kafir that Islam is bent on dominating them.

Larry make some good points and this is well worth the read.

Geert wilders film, while good, failed to explain to the 'hear no evil, see no evil, do nothing about evil' naive infidels that all Muslims believe 'the Koran is the eternal divine word of God and and a copy of it is in heaven. Muslims must be obeyed without question. Most people think that the Koran is like the old testament. That Muslims can ignore the parts they don't like. But in truth, the Koran is the eternal laws of God. Its laws and commands are valid for all times and places forever. To question it is to question the very word of God, and hence blasphemous. A Muslim's duty is to believe and obey those divine commands without question.
The Muslims will tell the infidels what they all desperately want to hear -- that the Koran is all peace and love and Osma bin laden is an aberration, not following the true Islam. But bin Laden is a true Muslim.
Wilders also did not include the 3 most important teachings of Islam:
9:5 – extermination of all non believers i.e. Infidels,
9:29 extermination of all Christians and Jews and
9:111 – those Muslims who kill and are killed performing 9:5 and 9:29 will ascend to paradise filled with full breasted, lustrous eyed virgins to sexually molest for all eternity.
Therefore, the 9/11 is Koran's 9:111.
Wilders failed to point to the criminality of prophet Muhammad.
That Muhammad was the first Nazi SS man. He ordered 60 atrocious raids and expeditions, and personally commanded 27 atrocities. At the massacre of the Jews of Banu Quraiza, Muhammad personally assisted in the beheading of 600 to 900 Jewish men. In order to distinguish between young Jewish boys and young Jewish men Muhammad ordered his murderous Muslim jihadists to pull down their pants. Just the slightest traces of pubic hair and the young Jewish boy/man were beheaded. Their mothers and sisters were then enslaved, the young and pretty girls were reduced to sex-slaves or sold some of them into slavery.
Wilders needed to explain that in Islam, deceit, torture, murder, assassination, massacre, genocide, pillage, robbery, enslavement and rape are halal (legal) acts, deserving of paradise, as long as they were perpetrated on infidels. These unethical and criminal teachings became the eternal laws of Allah.
That Muslims can kill (behead) anyone for doing any of the following:
1) reviling Allah or his messenger;
2) being sarcastic about 'Allah's name, his command, his interdiction, his promise, or his threat';
3) denying any verse of the quran or 'anything which by scholarly consensus belongs to it, or to add a verse that does not belong to it';
4) holding that 'any of Allah's messengers or prophets are liars, or to deny their being sent';
5) reviling the religion of Islam;
6) being sarcastic about any ruling of the sacred law;
7) denying that Allah intended 'the prophet's message . . . To be the religion followed by the entire world.'
If a Muslim challenges or questions the Koran, he is no longer a Muslim but an apostate of Islam and can be killed.
The cold, hard reality is that the Koran can never be changed, not even one word. When you are reading teachings of the Koran, you are reading the word of God himself and you must obey. There is no choice. There is no scope of ever exercising free will, employing logic, reason, rationality, morality.
This is the most important insanity that all Muslims believe. This is a disastrous belief that has the potential to destroy humanity and civilization as we know it.
Murdering infidels as an eternal law of God
9:5 when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters (unbelievers) wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer [become believers] and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them.
This is the notorious verse of the sword. 9:50 nullify all peace teachings, if any, from the Koran. God is commanding Muslims, as a holy duty, they must exterminate all infidels (particularly idolaters) from face of the earth.
9:29 fight those who believe not in God nor the last day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by God and his apostle, nor acknowledge the religion of truth, (even if they are) of the people of the book [Christians and Jews], until they pay the jizya [poll tax] with willing submission, feel themselves subdued.”
This verse means exactly what it means. Convert to Islam, or pay a devastating submission tax or be murdered.
For those Muslims who slay and are slain in fulfilling above commands of the Koran, they are guaranteed accession to a sexual paradise filled with full breasted, lustrous eyed eyes virgins who re – generate as virgins after each sex act to sexually molest for all eternity (9:111):
9:111 “lo! Allah hath bought from the believers their lives and their wealth because the garden (paradise) will be theirs: they shall fight in the way of Allah and shall slay and be slain”
"as for the righteous (Muslims)...we (Allah) shall wed them to beautiful virgins with lustrous eyes" - Q 44:51-54
The reason 3000 people were massacred on 9/11 was because God commanded the massacre. Those who butchered these people will ascend to paradise. By believing Koran is the book Allah's eternal laws, all Muslims believe this insanity.
Wilders added some more materials in his movie to explained these horrendous evils of Islam.
He should have made it clear that there are no moderate Muslims because in order to be a moderate Muslim you would have to renounce teachings of Q 9:5, 9;29 and 9:111. But if a Muslim renounces just one word of the Koran he is no longer a Muslim but an apostate of Islam and will be murdered.
Unfortunately, the film will not have the lasting impact it should have had, despite creating so much hypes.

Here it is: Fitna, Geert wilders long awaited film. Watch the film and download if you like it, it may not be up for long. My favorite quote from the film is "The sound you heard was a page being removed from the phonebook". This just after a shot of a page of the Koran being turned. Bet that got to some of the perpetually outraged folks watching Fitna. Heh.

Geert is giving the Islamists and the Western politicians a wake up call.

No movie after all?

By now the idea is spreading all over the place that there is no movie Fitna, and never will be -- that Geert Wilders simply announced that there would be to expose Islamic intolerance.
I have no direct knowledge either way, but I'm inclined to credit this idea at this point, since the film has not appeared now on several dates on which it had been announced to appear. Maybe it will finally burst upon the world, but I won't be surprised if it never does.
And look what we have seen: for the mere announcement that he was making a film quoting the Qur'an and showing Muslims acting violently in accord with its words, we have seen threats from several Muslim countries, threats from Al-Qaeda, demonstrations in the Netherlands and around the world, and quailing dhimmitude from the august leaders of Europe, as they cringed before the anticipated Islamic wrath, and from Network Solutions, as they pulled Wilders's site while it was almost entirely devoid of content.
Note, meanwhile, that hardly a day goes by on which some Muslims somewhere do not commit an act of violence that they deem to be justified by the words of the Qur'an. Jihadist leaders routinely invoke Qur'anic passages to explain their actions and make recruits among peaceful Muslims. In other words, we see the announced theme of Wilders's Fitna played out every day, not by non-Muslims but by Muslims -- and there is nary a peep of protest from anyone. Muslims in the West issue vague denunciations of "terrorism," but never specifically explain whom they actually believe to be a terrorist, and there are no protests, no threats, no nothing against those who have supposedly "hijacked" their religion.
Maybe that was Wilders's point all along, and it is a point well made, made again and again and again.

Geert has made a point that Muslims are ready to be offended, no matter what the "insult" or even the possibility of "insult".

Congratulations, Geert, you've shown the Islamists for the mindless savages they are and gotten the attention of the sleeping West.

As of 23 March, 2008, 0900 hrs EDT this is the message at the British Fitna web site:

NO FITNA the movie.

It should be fairly obvious by now that there is no "Fitna" movie. No movie to insult Islam or Muslims or anyone else for that matter. The month of April is upon us, we all know the month of April starts with the 1st April and that day is famous for (practical) jokes.

Holland might not be considered as a country with a great sense of humour but ever once in awhile even in Holland they crack a joke. So, bottom line; if you are here to find the Famous Fitna movie I guess you have been had !!!

On the other hand, if you are worried about how much unrest the rumour of a 15 minute movie about Islam can create, maybe it is time to identify and deal with the issues at hand.
When points of view are miles apart, the truth can usually be found near the middle.
