How they died: UN envoy reveals harrowing details of heroic workers' last moments

Once again, victims of Islamic violence have displaced blame onto third parties.  In this case, the U.N. mission in Afghanistan Staffan de Mistura blames a Koran burning in Florida for the murder of UN workers by Muslim fanatics. In doing so, de Mistura has removed responsibility from the murderers and in effect, has become a stooge for the murderers. de Mistura also demonstrates a craven cowardice that will only encourage more Muslim violence.

There can be no comparison between a legal, constitutionally protected political demonstration and the murderous response by Muslim.

How they died: UN envoy reveals harrowing details of heroic workers' last moments before their brutal murders in Afghanistan
By Daily Mail Reporter
Last updated at 6:38 PM on 3rd April 2011

The head of the U.N. mission in Afghanistan has described the horrific executions of seven colleagues.

Staffan de Mistura spoke in sombre tones as he described how the U.N. workers dashed into a dark bunker hoping to escape the mob of Afghan protesters angry over the burning of a Quran by a Florida church.

His words come as Pastor Terry Jones, the man de Mistura and many others blame for instigating Friday's protests, defiantly promised to put Islamic prophet Mohammed 'on trial' for his next 'day of judgement' publicity stunt.

His last protest, in which he oversaw the burning of a copy of the Koran after a six-hour mock trial, has been directly responsible for a wave of violence in Afghanistan that has left 30 people dead and inflamed protest throughout the Middle East.

Rage: Afghan protests against the burning of a Quran in Florida entered a third day with a demonstration in the major eastern city Sunday, while the Taliban called on people to rise up

Staffan de Mistura, the top U.N. envoy in Afghanistan, recounted their harrowing deaths of workers who hid in a bomb proof bunker.

The envoy told how the workers were hunted down and brutally slain – their bodies found later in three different parts of the compound in northern Afghanistan.

He said: 'They were killed when they were running out of the bunker.

'One was pulled out alive because he pretended to be a Muslim.'

MADNESS!! Iran Chosen By UN For Leadership Role In Protecting Women's Rights

MADNESS!! Iran Chosen By UN For Leadership Role In Protecting Women's Rights

Ever since Jimmy Carter opened the door for the founding of the fundamentalist Islamic, Republic of Iran, the country has oppressed its female citizens. Within months of the Shah's ouster, the Islamo-fascists began to force women to observe Islamic dress code; many public places were sex-segregated; the legal age of marriage for girls was reduced to 13 (the Prophet was also a pedophile), and married women were barred from attending regular schools. Segregation of the sexes is brutally enforced, any woman caught by revolutionary officials in a mixed-sex situation can be subject to virginity tests.

Adultery committed by women is punished by being buried up to your chest, so you cannot move and having rocks brutally thrown at you until you are dead. Iran’s Penal Code prescribes execution by stoning and dictates that the stones are to be large enough to cause pain, but not so large as to kill the victim immediately.

If a woman is an public and there is exposure of any part of her body (other than hands and face) she is subject to punishment of up to 70 lashes or 60 days imprisonment. And of course there is the latest madness, women are not allowed to have suntans:

Brig Hossien Sajedinia, Tehran's police chief, said a national crackdown on opposition sympathisers would be extended to women who have been deemed to be violating the spirit of Islamic laws. He said: "The public expects us to act firmly and swiftly if we see any social misbehaviour by women, and men, who defy our Islamic values. In some areas of north Tehran we can see many suntanned women and young girls who look like walking mannequins.

"We are not going to tolerate this situation and will first warn those found in this manner and then arrest and imprison them."

Despite the horrible treatment of women in the thugocracy of Iran, the United Nations has chosen the country to have a leadership role on the U.N.'s Commission on the Status of Women?

Anne Bayefsky of UN Watch points out the idiocy of such a move

The United Nations Economic and Social Council yesterday elected Iran to serve a four-year term -- beginning in 2011 -- on the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). The U.N. calls the Commission “the principal global policy-making body” on women’s rights and claims it is “dedicated exclusively to gender equality and advancement of women.” Yet Iran was elected by acclamation. It was one of only two candidates for two slots allocated to the Asian regional bloc – in other words, a fixed slate and a done deal.

...The 2009 U.S. State Department report on Iran outlines other highlights of Iran’s women’s rights credentials. For instance, “spousal rape is not illegal” and when it comes to any other kind of rape “most rape victims did not report the crime to authorities because they feared…punishment for having been raped…Four male witnesses or three men and two women are required for conviction. A woman or man found making a false accusation of rape is subject to 80 lashes.”

Other features of Iran’s legal system, according to the State Department, include: “a man may escape punishment for killing a wife caught in the act of adultery if he is certain she was a consenting partner….[I]n 2008, 50 honor killings were reported during a seven-month period…” In general, “the testimony of two women is equal to that of one man.” Moreover, “a woman has the right to divorce only if her husband signs a contract granting that right, cannot provide for his family, or is a drug addict, insane, or impotent. A husband was not required to cite a reason for divorcing his wife.”

The UN's Commission on the Status of Women doesn't really give a damn about the treatment of women in Iran, or anywhere else in the world. It acts as another arm of the United Nations' effort to deligitimize Israel. You may remember it was the UN's World Conference of the International Women's Year in 1975 that first passed the "Zionism is Racism" slander.  The UN's efforts to "protect women" has not improved in the intervening 35 years.

For years the CSW has only ever adopted one resolution naming any country for violating women’s rights -- you guessed it – Palestinian women’s rights allegedly violated by Israel. The Commission is “gravely concerned” about Israeli violations of Palestinian rights. The right to life of Palestinian women and girls subject to honor killings, coerced into becoming suicide bombers or child soldiers at the hands of non-Israelis somehow has never made it on to their radar screen. And the same is true of the rights of women and girls violated by any other specific state on earth but Israel.

This is another example of just one more U.N. body following an Orwellian strategy of stating their purpose as doing one thing, but actually doing the opposite. And the most fun part of it all is that almost a quarter of the UN's funding comes out of the pockets of American Taxpayers. Now that is a spending cut our government should make right away.

Campaign Launched to Protect Christians from U.N. Resolution

(Photo: AP / Alexandre Meneghini) In this photo taken on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, a pilgrim carries an image of Jesus Christ during the 60th Christian Festival in the village of Mariamabad, Sheikhupura district, Pakistan. Non-Muslims make up less than 5 percent of Pakistan's 175 million people. They are especially vulnerable to anti-blasphemy laws that carry the death penalty for derogatory remarks or any other action against Islam, the Quran or the Prophet Muhammad.

Defeating the "Defamation of Religions Resolution" at the UN may be one of the more important strategic battles in the war we are forced to fight against the Islamic invasion of the West.

This brave but small band of Christians in Pakistan known as Open Doors, know firsthand what Islam thinks of religious tolerance through the almost ceaseless harassment and persecution of Christians in that country.  They rightly perceive that if enacted, Muslim countries around the world would use the resolution via the UN to bludgeon any country or individual making the smallest statement not approved by the Muslim community.

If enacted, we can be sure that our Muslim-friendly president Obama will welcome it with open arms as another tool with which to suppress those Americans who speak out against the Islamic invasion.  It will become a template for the likes of CAIR to wage lawfare against the blogosphere or any citizen daring to challenge the "right" of Muslin superiority.

This is a "Contact your Congressmen and Senators" moment to ask them to introduce legislation to make the US exempt from this world wide UN/Muslim kangaroo court.

BTW, it's pretty amazing but no longer surprising that there it is now necessary to protect Christians from the UN.

FROM CHRISTIANPOST.COM:

Campaign Launched to Protect Christians from U.N. Resolution
By Ethan Cole Christian Post Reporter Tue, Oct. 06 2009 08:11 PM EDT

A ministry working with persecuted Christians launched a campaign Tuesday against a U.N. resolution that many human rights groups say can be manipulated to oppress religious minorities living in Muslim-majority countries.

The Defamation of Religions Resolution, backed by the 57 Muslim-majority countries that make up the Organization of Islamic Conference, is expected to be proposed next month or later this year. It seeks to criminalize words or actions that are deemed defamatory towards a particular religion.

Rights groups, however, warn the resolution could be used to legitimize anti-blasphemy laws and intimidate human rights activists and religious dissenters. Critics say instead of protecting adherents of religions, including religious minorities, the resolution protects religions themselves.

Open Doors, the group that launched the new campaign, pointed to the recent anti-Christian rampage in Gojra, Pakistan, where Muslim mobs killed and burned Christian homes based on a blasphemy rumor. At least seven Christians were killed and more than 100 homes were looted and burned in the Gojra attack.

“Many Christians living in these countries (OIC) are already severely impacted by restrictive laws – especially those living under strict Shariah law,” said Open Doors USA President/CEO Carl Moeller. “From the right to worship freely to the ability to share the Gospel, the Defamation of Religions Resolution threatens to justify local laws that already marginalize Christians."

“The Defamation of Religions Resolution is a blow against religious freedom,” he added.
The Christian ministry has launched an advocacy campaign aimed at preventing the non-binding resolution from passing at the United Nations. It plans to lobby key countries, which will vote on the resolution, and organize a petition drive against the proposal.

Groups that have protested against the Defamation of Religions resolution in the past include The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, Freedom House, U.N. Watch, and Christian Solidarity Worldwide.

“It is crucial that this resolution is defeated. Join our advocacy team now,” Moeller urged. “We need to stand in the gap for our brothers and sisters in Christ.”

OIC to move UNGA against caricatures

Step by step, inch by inch, the islamists nibble away at the West, aided by people who are either craven cowards, traitors to their society, or both.

FROM THE DAILYTIMES.COM:

OIC to move UNGA against caricatures
Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: A resolution against the publication of blasphemous caricatures of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) in various countries will be presented in the upcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), an Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) representative said on Tuesday.

“The resolution will demand legislation against the publication of blasphemous caricatures of revered personalities and derogatory remarks against religions. It will also demand [sacrilegious] actions be declared a crime,” OIC Secretary General’s Special Representative on Kashmir Ezzat Kamel Mufti told a news conference.

Mufti said a particular group in America and the European Union had been launching attacks against Islam. “However, we should not get emotional and resort to any kind of violence, including suicide bombings,” he said.

UN choosing to protect rogue nuclear programs

No surprises here. Being a good muslim, Dr. Muhammad elBaradei, Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency he naturally sides with Iran and other islamic countries. He also manages to use the UN as useful idiot to further the islamic goal of global domination. In this article, Caroline Glick exposes his duplicity.

FROM JEWISH WORLD REVIEW:

UN choosing to protect rogue nuclear programs
By Caroline B. Glick

Dr. Muhammad elBaradei's most prominent personality trait is his chutzpah. Two weeks before Israel destroyed the North Korean-built nuclear reactor in Syria last September 6, elBaradei, the Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency was complaining to Australian television about the US's decision to augment its military assistance to Israel by $30 billion over the next ten years. The move, he said would lead to a regional arms race.
As far as elBaradei is concerned, diplomacy means never having to say you're sorry and always attacking people who actually care what you think. And so it is not surprising that ever since Israel destroyed the installation in al-Kibar, elBaradei has reserved his sharpest attacks not for Syria, which was exposed as an illicit nuclear proliferator, but for Israel and the US.
Unlike Israel, Syria is a signatory of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. At this week's meeting of the IAEA's Board of Governors, elBaradei discussed how — in breach of its treaty obligations — Syria has refused IAEA requests to inspect the bombed out site and three other suspected nuclear sites in the country.
The IAEA has been asking for permission to inspect al-Kibar since last September. And since September Syria has ignored the requests. Satellite photography has shown that Syria has used the intervening months to build a new structure over the destroyed reactor to hide it. Apparently Damascus is now comfortable with the situation on the ground because it has apparently agreed to allow UN inspectors to visit the site later in the month.

U.N. Racisim Investigator Interferes in U.S. Vote

Creeping UN-ization of America. This surely has to be a State Department/UN plot to further weaken the US.

FROM NEWSMAX.COM:

U.N. Racisim Investigator Interferes in U.S. Vote

A special U.N. human rights investigator will visit the United States this month to probe racism, an issue that has forced its way into the race to secure the Democratic Party's presidential nomination.
The United Nations said Doudou Diene would meet federal and local officials, as well as lawmakers and judicial authorities during the May 19-June 6 visit.
"The special rapporteur will...gather first-hand information on issues related to racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance," a U.N. statement said on Friday.
His three-week visit, at U.S. government invitation, will cover eight cities -- Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, Omaha, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Miami and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Race has become a central issue in the U.S. election cycle because Sen. Barack Obama, the frontrunner in the battle for the Democratic nomination battle, stands to become the country's first African American president.
His campaign has increased turnout among black voters but has also turned off some white voters in a country with a history of slavery and racial segregation.
Diene, a Senegalese lawyer who has served in the independent post since 2002, will report his findings to the U.N. Human Rights Council next year.
However, the United Nations has almost no clout when it comes to U.S. domestic affairs and is widely perceived by many as interfering. The United States is not among the 47 member states of the Geneva-based forum, but has observer status.
In a report last year he said Islamophobia had grown worldwide since the September 11 2001 attacks on the United States, carried out by al-Qaeda militants.

DEATH PENALTY
A U.N. panel which examined the U.S. record on racial discrimination last March urged the United States to halt racial profiling of Americans of Arab, Muslim and South Asian descent and to ensure immigrants and non-nationals are not mistreated.
It also said America should impose a moratorium on the death penalty and stop sentencing young offenders to life in prison until it can root out racial bias from its justice system.
Racial minorities were more likely than whites to be sentenced to death or to life without parole as juveniles, according to the U.N. Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. It monitors compliance with an international treaty which Washington ratified in 1994.
U.S. officials told the body, made up of 18 independent experts, that they were combating hate crimes such as displays of hangman's nooses and police brutality against minorities.
Some 800 racially motivated incidents against people perceived to be Arab, Muslim, Sikh or South Asian had been investigated since the September 11 attacks, they said at the time.
Substantial progress had been made over the years in addressing disparities in housing, education, employment and health care, according to a U.S. report submitted to the talks.

Fear of democracy

The UN continues to suppress free speech. Caroline B. Glick once again points out the steady dissolution of Western values by multi-culti dhimmis.
FROM JEWISHWORLDREVIEW.COM:

Fear of democracy
By Caroline B. Glick

The West stands by idly as its foundations are being rent asunder.
Last Friday the UN's Human Rights Council took a direct swipe at freedom of expression. In a unanimous 32-0 decision, the Council instructed its "expert on freedom of expression" to report to the Council on all instances in which individuals "abuse" their freedom of speech by giving expression to racial or religious bias.
The measure was proposed by paragons of freedom Egypt and Pakistan. It was supported by all Arab, Muslim and African countries - founts of liberty one and all. European states abstained from the vote.
The US, which is not a member of the Human Rights Council tried to oppose the measure. In a speech before the Council, US Ambassador to the UN in Geneva Warren Tichenor warned that the resolution's purpose is to undermine freedom of expression because it imposes, "restrictions on individuals rather than emphasiz[ing] the duty and responsibility of governments to guarantee, uphold, promote and protect human rights."
By seeking to criminalize free speech, the resolution stands in breach of the UN's Declaration of Human Rights. Article 19 of that document states explicitly, "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers."
The Europeans' decision to abstain rather than oppose the measure seems, at first glance rather surprising. Given that the EU member states are among the UN's most emphatic champions, it would have seemed normal for them to have opposed a resolution that works to undermine one of the UN's foundational documents, and indeed, one of the most basic tenets of Western civilization.
But then again, given the EU's stands in recent years against freedom of expression, there really is nothing to be surprised about. The EU's current bow to intellectual thuggery is of course found in its response to the Internet release of Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilders' film "Fitna."
The EU has gone out of its way to attack Wilders for daring to utilize his freedom of expression. The EU's presidency released a statement condemning the film for "inflaming hatred." Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenendeissued statements claiming that the film "serves no other purpose than to cause offense." Then too, UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon blasted the film as "offensively anti-Islamic."

U.N., EU offer social services to pardoned terrorists

Talk about ingrates. Israel releases terrorists only to have them immediately return to attacking Israel. Then the UN an EU want to "educate" and help them eschew terrorism. But how can you blame a fanatical Islamist refrain from doing what comes naturally to him? The problem here is that Israel, the UN and EU continue to live in a multi-culti la la land of mindless hope that the Jihadi will somehow stop trying to kill Jews.

But gunmen slated for 'reintegration' still committing attacks, refusing to disarm

TEL AVIV – The United Nations has initiated a program to provide "job training" and "family assistance" purportedly to integrate into Palestinian society terrorists granted amnesty in July by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
Many of the terrorists now slated for aid have boasted of violating their amnesty agreement by refusing to disarm and reportedly continuing to attack the Jewish state.
Israel has information some of the pardoned terrorists have been coordinating activities with the Lebanese Hezbollah terrorist organization.
In a gesture to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Olmert granted the official amnesty to 178 West Bank-based members of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, Fatah's declared military wing, which took responsibility along with the Islamic Jihad terror group for every suicide bombing in Israel the past two years.
