Hampshire Heritage Days
Here are some pictures from Hampshire Heritage Days, held in Romney, West Virginia. Hampshire County is the oldest county in WV and Romney is the oldest city. For two days every year, on the first weekend after Labor Day, the festivle takes over the town. There is lots of food, crafts, living history from the earliest days, Civil War re-enactments, and just plain old fashoned country hospitality. Romney changed sides at least 56 times during the Civil War. The oldest surviving building was built in 1798, and the young George Washington laid out the street grid.
