LOS ANGELES, Nov. 8, 2007 (KABC-TV) - L.A. city leaders are reacting to an FBI warning al Qaeda may be planning attacks against local shopping malls, this upcoming holiday season.

The FBI says it got that from a tip, which has yet to be substantiated.
There have been terrorist threats focused around the holidays since the 9-11 attacks. And it's not the first time the warnings have involved malls, only this time it's malls in Los Angeles and Chicago.
The FBI threat warning is that "As of August, 2007, al-Qa'ida planned to strike U.S. shopping malls in Chicago, Illinois, and Los Angeles, California, during the 2007 Christmas season. Al-Qa'ida hoped to disrupt the U.S. economy and had been planning the attack for the past 2 years."
