Eye-for-an-eye

Respect this Obama.  Our erstwhile allies in Pakistan bow to Sharia law.  No Muslim majority country places any secular laws above Sharia law.  Which begs the question, are any of the Muslim countries we dump so much aid into ever going to have truly democratic, secular forms of government?  I don't think so.

Eye-for-an-eye: Pakistani brothers to have ears and nose chopped off for doing the same to woman who rejected one
By Mail Foreign Service

Two brothers will have their noses and ears cut off in Pakistan as punishment for doing the same to a woman over a rejected marriage proposal.
Sher and Amanat Mohammad put a noose round the neck of 20-year-old Fazeelat Bibi, their cousin, and cut off her nose and ears because her parents refused to let her marry Sher.
The brothers were sentenced by a court in Lahore this week, where prosecutors said the removal of their facial features was in line with the Islamic principle of 'an eye for an eye'.

Sher and Amanat will also be jailed for more than 70 years.
The removal of their noses and ears was ordered under the rarely used Islamic law of Qisas. Punishments under Qisas have previously always been revoked by Pakistani courts on appeal after General Mohammad Zia ul Haq's military regime introduced the law in 1979.

The Mohammad brothers and three accomplices abducted Miss Bibi as she returned home from work at a brick kiln in Lahore before the attack in September. Police are still searching for the three other men.
Chief prosecutor Chaudray Mohammed Jahangir said the brothers mutilated the woman 'to set an example'.
The three accomplices are still being sought by police.
