Egypt sends military onto streets amid deadly clashes near Suez Canal

Looks like that Arab Spring thing isn't working out so well.  The toppling of Mubrack has brought the Muslim Brotherhood to power where it is trying to impose an Islamic caliphate.  So much for democracy.  At any rate, democracy as recognized in the West can never be implemented in an Islamic country inasmuch as Islam and Western ideals are totally incompatible.  In the mean time, every lunatic Muslim faction will be vying for power and killing each other in a death spire of hatred and violence.  The only thing these factions have in common is their desire to annihilate Israel.

So we will watch Egypt descend into anarchy and chaos with the loss of thousands of lives until the biggest Islamic rat emerges as King Rat.

PORT SAID/CAIRO - At least 11 people were killed in Egypt’s Port Said on Saturday in a rampage by protesters angry that a court had sentenced 21 people to death over a soccer stadium disaster that killed 74 last year.

Armored vehicles and military police were deployed on the streets of the Mediterranean city.

The state news agency quoted a general as saying the military was sent to "establish calm and stability in Port Said and to protect public institutions."

An official from the authority that controls Egypt's Suez Canal said it was not affected.

"Shipping movement through the Suez Canal is regular and is going ahead positively," canal spokesman Tarek Hassanein told Reuters, adding 44 ships had entered the canal so far on Saturday.

However, witnesses reported that operations at Port Said's port were halted when staff said they would suspend work due to the clashes. Other factories and workplaces closed for the day.
