The Scars Of Akhtara

This is just one more of thousands of horror stories to come out of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Once the NATO troops are totally out of the country, the fate of the women of Afghanistan will revert to life under Taliban rule, in other words, go backward to 7th century barbarity. In fact about half of Afghanistan is under de facto Taliban control now.

The harrowing story of Akhtara, an Afghan woman attacked with acid by a man she refused to marry after he killed her husband. Badly scarred, she's been reduced to begging to support her children. We are publishing this story to coincide with International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
