The roots of slavery can be found in the Muslim slave trade

Here's a short history of the Islamic slave trade from the days of Mohammed to the present. Daniel Greenfield explores the mindset and reasoning behind slavery being an integral part of Islam.

Islam, the Religion of Slavery

The slow collapse of Dubai, a desert mirage built on oil money, human misery and the greed of Western businesses, reminds us once again of the fate of all slave economies in the end. But for all the skyscrapers in Dubai, the glittering avenues built by slave labor and the abundance of luxury American and European automobiles—the story of Dubai and Saudi Arabia is very much an old story in a Muslim Middle East, of fat prosperous sheiks clutching their ill gotten gains to themselves and ruling over harems and companies of slaves, until the end comes.

Like Muslim Brotherhood derived terrorists using the latest Web 2.0 social media as part of a quest to drive humanity back into the dark ages, the Gulf States are a very old story with the external gilt and glitz of modernity. While the Muslim world may employ the tools and utilities of the 21st century, even mimic its terminology, it has never left its own dark ages… and its dominant religious and social movements are all geared toward making sure that it never does.

And while above the skyscrapers gleam in Dubai’s night sky, below are the armies of foreign workers, some prosperous Western Dhimmis driving luxury cars who come to do all the higher labor that the native Emiratis lack the ability or will to do, and outnumbering them are the labor gangs of Asian, Indian and Middle Eastern workers who erect the edifices designed by Western architects to fool Western investors into believing that the backward totalitarian sheikdom is actually a modern free republic.

As with any fairy tale, behind the glamour lies an ugly truth. A truth that dates back to Mohammed. That stretches from slave caravans to slave ships. From England to America and through Turkey to Russia, the roots of slavery can be found in the Muslim slave trade.

Slavery and Sex Slavery

A former African slave, freed by a Christian organization, displays the brand applied by his Muslim owner in the Islamic Republic of Sudan.

No slavery in Islam? While Muslims deny it, Islam drew much of it's initial strength from Mohammed’s decreeing that women captured in battle become the property of the Muslim captors. Over the centuries, Muslims were (and still are) a major source of slaves in the world. Virtually all African Negro slaves sold into the slave trades of Europe and America were captured or procured by Muslim slave traders.

FROM THERELIGION OF PEACE.COM:

Slavery and Sex Slavery

Question:

Does Islam condone slavery? Does Islamic teaching allow Muslim men to keep women as sex slaves?

Summary Answer:

Islam neither ignores nor condemns slavery. In fact, a large part of Sharia is dedicated to the practice.

Muslims are encouraged to live in the way of Muhammad, who was a slave owner and trader. He captured slaves in battle. He had sex with his slaves. And he instructed his men to do the same. The Qur'an actually devotes more verses to making sure that Muslim men know they can keep women as sex slaves than it does to telling them to pray five times a day.

Quotations from the Quran that support slavery in Islam continues HERE.

Nepali women victims of prostitution and slavery in Arab countries

Slavery, an Islamic trademark.  It's built into Islam from day one and has continued for 1,400 years.  Just another way Muslims let us Kuffars know how inferior we are.

Enough.

When will the feckless, spinless leadership in the West stand up and say enough, stop, no more?

Nepali women victims of prostitution and slavery in Arab countries
by Kalpit Parajuli

Hundreds of women emigrated for work to Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan and other Islamic countries, and have not been heard from for years. Those who succeed in returning home shows signs of physical exhaustion, injuries and are often infected with AIDS.

Kathmandu (AsiaNews) - Hundreds of Nepalese women who emigrate to Arab countries in search of better jobs and wages, are unaccounted for. According to husbands and relatives they become victims of prostitution and slavery. The migrants who manage to return, show signs of physical exhaustion, injuries, psychological damage and are often infected with AIDS. To resolve this tragic situation, the Government of Nepal wants to block migration to Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan where most cases are registered. In 2010, 242 women emigrated for work and were never heard of again.

Devi Lal Sunar, from the village of Sanoshree (Bardia district), has had no news of his wife Shanti in three years and is concerned about her safety. "Ten years ago - he says - a neighbour convinced my wife to leave for Kuwait, helping her to migrate across India." Devi said that the last contact with his wife Shanti took place about three years ago. On the phone she said that the landlord did not allow her to leave, that he tortured and beat her when she tried to contact the house and did not give her a salary. "I called Kuwait several times - he says - a voice with an Indian accent always answers and refuses to let me speak to my wife." The man claims to have done everything to bring his wife home, and in recent years has sold most of his property and now has no money to feed his two children.

Lila Thapa, a woman of 35, recently returned to her village of Katarn (Bardia), after seven years working as a maid in Kuwait. "Working in Arab countries is very risky and difficult - she says - cases of abuse and exploitation are rife." The woman points out that she had never been sexually abused, however, she claims to have been exploited and poorly paid for all her stay in Kuwait.

According to Maiti Nepal, an association against the trafficking of women, alleged disappearance are still rising. In eight years we have gone from three cases in 2002 to 242 in 2010. The growth is mainly due to increased migration to the Arab countries that attract women aged 25 to 35 years with jobs as nurses, domestic helpers and caregivers. However, many of them are sold as prostitutes in brothels or are employed in private homes as domestic servants-slaves and subjected to constant abuse by employers.

The ‘step’ treatment: Woman sold multiple times by stepbrother

"Woman sold multiple times" says it all about Islam and women.  this goes beyond just cultural behavior.  If not for the support of Islamic Sharia, such barbaric practices would not exist to the extent they do.  An appalling aspect is that this atrocity is reported in the Pakistani press as just another sale, business as usual, nothing to see here, and everyday occurrence.

Where will you be when the jihad hits the street?

FROM TRIBUNE.COM.PK:

The ‘step’ treatment: Woman sold multiple times by stepbrother

RAHIM YAR KHAN:

A man attempted to sell his step sister for the third time in Ameenabad on Saturday.

According to police officials, Azam sold his stepsister multiple times and had threatened her life. Moza Malkani resident Maqsood Bibis aid that after the death of her father Khuda Buksh five years ago her step brother Azam and his cousins Abbas and Iqbal had forcefully seized her property and sold her to work in a wine distillery.

“My father left me his property in his will. Azam’s mother died several years ago and he and his sister kept trying to get me to sign over the papers to them. They eventually seized the property by force and destroyed the will,” Maqsood Bibi said. “He sold me for Rs10,000 to a bootlegger, who made me work in a wine distillery for nearly a year. The illegal factory was located in the basement of his house and five other women had also been bought from other villages to brew wine,” she told reporters. Maqsood Bibi said she was sold on the central chowk after midnight to Nadir Shaheed. “I escaped from there after nine months but his men caught me and brought me back to him,” she said.

Maqsood Bibi said that she was locked up in a room for several weeks by Azam and then sold off to Hakim Abdul Qadir for the price of two buffaloes. “He forced me to marry the man and I had to sign the documents at gunpoint. He sold me for two buffaloes,” she told police officials. Maqsood Bibi said that her husband Qadir frequently beat her and made her work in his fields all day. “I finally managed to escape from Qadir two months ago but within a week of my having fled Abbas and Iqbal found me. They brought me back to Azam and he was planning to sell me a third time,” she said.

Maqsood Bibi’s neighbour Rehana said that she had knew of her situation. “I never knew the details but I did know that her step brother had recently sold her for two cows. When she came back she was terribly scared and I called her uncles and told them about the situation,” she said.

Maqsood Bibi’s paternal uncles’ Rasool Buksh and Allah Buksh arrived in Moza Molkani last week and approached police to register a case against Azam. “We didn’t know about what was happening to our niece after our brother’s death. These men have taken her property and we are resolved to get it back,” they said during a press conference on Saturday.

Allah Buksh filed an application with the local court in this regard. Maqsood Bibi, Rasool Bukhsh and Allah Bukhsh came to press club on Saturday afternoon and said that they had registered a case against Azam and his aides Abbas and Iqbal.

“These men were trying to sell me for a third time and have seized all my property. They have taken over my father’s house and are threatening my life,” Maqsood Bibi told the press.

“Abbas and Iqbal have previously been jailed on murder charges and Azam also has a criminal record,”
said Malkani Police station Superintendent Liaqat Gondal. “We have registered a case against the accused and are beginning proceedings. We are also searching for both men that purchased Maqsood Bibi,” he added.

Maqsood Bibi is currently living with her uncles’ Rasool and Allah Buksh and has been provided police protection until the court hearing.

Slavery and Islam

Ah yes, Muslims and slavery.  Theyu just can't accept that slavery has been outlawed in the civilized world for centuries.  Muslims bring all their disgusting 7th century barbariams with them whever they go.

East is East and West is West, and never the twain shall meet.

The Western world needs to accept that Islam will never change, and that allowing Islam into the Western world will mean the ultimate demise of freedom as we know it.

Victim ‘trafficked in 1st modern case’

By ANTHONY FRANCE, Crime Reporter

A DOCTOR has become the first person in the UK to be charged with modern-day slavery.

Saeeda Khan, 68, is accused of smuggling a Tanzanian woman into the country and making her work for nothing at her £500,000 home.

The 50-year-old victim was allegedly forced to sleep on a mattress on the medic's kitchen FLOOR.

Khan and her late husband Zahid, also a doctor, at first paid the suspected slave just £10 a month - but the payments later stopped, police said.

Scotland Yard was tipped off to the woman's situation by an anti-slavery charity. Detectives from the Human Exploitation and Organised Crime Command, known as SCD9, swooped earlier this year at Khan's home in Harrow, North West London.

She will appear before City of Westminster Magistrates next Monday, charged with trafficking people for exploitation. Trading in slaves was made a criminal offence in the 19th century.

Human rights groups believe more than 1,000 people - including maids, fruit pickers and factory workers - are forced to work as slaves in the UK.

And then there's this from Pakistan:
Christian woman, mother of two, abducted and forced into slavery because of debt

FROM ASIANEWS.IT:

by Jibran Khan

Her labourer husband took out a loan to have his sick father undergo medical treatment. Muslim landlord who owns the debt now wants repayment; to achieve his goal, he threatened and insulted the family, calling them “lowlife” who “will always be our slave” because “We Muslims are superior to any other religion.” Initially, police refused to intervene and file a complaint about the abduction.

Kasur (AsiaNews) – A group of Muslims abducted a Christian woman, mother of two, because her husband failed to repay a loan he had contracted because of his poverty. The Muslim creditor threatened to seize his wife and children and use them as slaves if the debt was not paid in time. Two days ago, he, his children and other family members organised a sit-in (pictured) demanding that police intervene, but so far, it has failed to lift one finger to free the woman. The incident occurred in Fatehpuh Kasur (Kasur District), about 100 kilometres from Punjab’s capital Lahore.

The town is home to Ejaz Masih, his wife Sana, their two children and his parents. He works as labourer in the fields, whilst his wife works as a maid. Both are working hard to give their children an education.

Last July, Muhammad Nawaz Randhawa sold his fields to Chaudhry Ilyas Tiwana, who inherited all the labourers as well.

Earlier, Ejaz Masih had asked Randhawa for a loan to pay for his father’s medical treatment. After Randhawa told Tiwana about the loan, the latter summer Ejaz on 15 August to tell him that he had two weeks to repay it, “otherwise you will work my fields for the rest of your life, together with your family”. What is more, “We’ll come and take your wife and children to work for us as slaves. You have no choice [but pay]. Do dare not tell anyone; or else, you’ll be responsible for the consequences,” he added. “You are lowlife and will always be our slave. We Muslims are superior to any other religion.”

After he was thrown out of the landlord’s home, Ejaz went home where he told his wife and parents about the incident. “My wife said we should contact police and the authorities because we could not let anyone take our children to be their slaves,” Ejaz told AsiaNews.

“I told her that those people were very influential and that they would kill us if we contacted police. My parents told me to send my children to the house of an uncle, for protection, which we did.”

“Last Friday,” Ejaz went on to say, “around 5 am, seven to eight people with weapons came to take away my wife. They threatened us with their weapons. I tried to stop them, but they threw me to the ground and beat my father.”

When his mother called for help, neighbours came out but no one tried to stop the kidnappers. His brother, Javed, contacted police, but they refused to register the complaint.

On Monday, Ejaz, his parents, children and brother protested in front of the Fatehpuh Kasur Press Club, demanding justice and his wife’s release.

Despite many attempts and requests, Tiwana was unavailable to make any comment about the incident.

Following the protest, Senior House Officer Malik Babar said, “We are aware of the matter and we will arrest the culprits.”

However, the district coordination officer said he had no information about any such incident, but “I will instruct police to take the necessary action in this regard.”

Christian Copts Living As Slaves to Muslims in Egyptian Village

Yeah, another progressive Muslim majority country showing true Islamic tolerance to it's minorities.  What is it with Muslims and slavery?  If they can't have out and out slaves, they'll have economic slaves or use coercion and intimidation to have virtual slaves.

This is what Islam will bring to the West if we allow them to.

To those who still believe that Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance, consider living conditions of minorities in Muslim majority countries.  Consider the thousands of honor killings of women and girls every year.  Consider 9-11.

FROM AINA.ORG:

Christian Copts Living As Slaves to Muslims in Egyptian Village

By Mary Abdelmassih

(AINA) -- Since the Christmas Eve Massacre on January 6,2010, when six Copts were killed and nine seriously injured by Muslims in a drive-by shooting outside a church in Nag Hammadi (AINA 1-7-2010), the Coptic Patriarchate in Cairo has become a Mecca for oppressed Copts from all over Egypt.

Nearly every Wednesday, when Coptic Pope Shenouda III gives his weekly sermon, Copts go to complain to the Pope and make known their grievances to other Copts who never come to hear about those cases due to media blackout. They hope to meet with human rights activists attending the sermon without fear of getting arrested by State Security for congregating under the prevailing emergency laws.

Coptic human rights activist Dr. Fawzy Hermina has called the large courtyard of the Patriarchate the "Coptic Hyde Park."

Last week a group of nearly 50 Coptic men from the village of Azeem in Samalout, Minya province, came to expose "slavery-related" practices against Copts by certain radical Muslim families in their village. They called on human rights organizations for support. They met with activists from Coptic NGOs and appeared on US-based Coptic human rights channel Hope-Sat, which promised support through their lawyers in Egypt.

Bassem Shehata, 25, an IT graduate who attended the rally at the Patriarchate, said in an aired interview with Coptic activist Wagih Yacoub "We live in utter slavery. If Copts, some of whom are landowners, disobey orders of the big Muslim families, they are flogged." Bassem said that last year his 14-year-old brother Shenouda was tied by members of a Muslim family to a pole, beaten and tortured in front of his father just because the father did not lend them his tractor. "Each time my father begged for mercy for his child, he was also beaten." He said despite the family feeling "broken inside" his father refused to report the incident, fearing reprisals from the Muslim family.

Bassem said that young Christians work without pay on Muslim land. "I had to go because I was afraid they would harm my father."

Slaves in impoverished Yemen dream of freedom

A Yemeni family brought into enslavement decades ago fights the stigma of their status as 'slaves' in impoverished Yemen (AFP)

Slavery may be officially over but in Yemen, the practice is alive and well.

FROM ALARABIA.NET:

Descendants of an ancient empire

SANAA (AFP)

Officially, slavery was abolished back in 1962 but a judge's decision to pass on the title deed of a "slave" from one master to another has blown the lid off the hidden bondage of hundreds of Yemenis.

The judge in the town of Hajja, which is home to some 300 slaves, according to residents, said he had certified the transfer only because the new owner planned to free the slave.

But his decision has triggered a campaign by local human right activists.

" Sometimes I wonder what the fate of my children will be, having a slave father and an emancipated mother "
Mubarak

A 2009 report by the human rights ministry found that males and females were still enslaved in the provinces of Hudaydah and Hajja, in northwest Yemen -- the Arab world's most impoverished country.

Mubarak, who has seven brothers and sisters, has never set foot outside the village where he was born into a family which was inherited as slaves by their local master.

Sheikh Mohammed Badawi's father had bought Mubarak's parents 50 years ago, shortly before Yemen's 1962 revolution which abolished slavery. Mubarak has known no other life except that of a slave.

"Whenever I think of freedom, I ask myself, 'Where will I go?'" he told AFP as he stood outside a hut which serves as home for him and his family.

Black-skinned Mubarak does not know his birthday but he knows he has been a slave from birth 21 years ago. He has two children with a wife who was also a slave until she was emancipated by her master, a few years before they married.

"Sometimes I wonder what the fate of my children will be, having a slave father and an emancipated mother," he said.

Mubarak and his family are just one case among many.

"We are still in the process of trying to count the numbers of slaves," the coordinator of rights group Hood, Mohammed Naji Allaw, told AFP, explaining that slaves were "owned by title deeds, or inherited within families."

The news website almasdaronline earlier spoke of "500 slaves" across Yemen.

In addition to "slaves whose owner can use them however he wants," the ministry report also refers to other groups subjected to slave-like conditions, although they are not bound by documents.

" former slaves who have been officially set free, but remain at the service of their former masters, who continue to feed them but never pay them wages "
Human Rights ministry

One group includes "former slaves who have been officially set free, but remain at the service of their former masters, who continue to feed them but never pay them wages," the report said.

Allaw said such people are still referred to as "the slaves of such and such a family, or the slaves of such and such a tribe."

Embrace Islam, Or Lose Your Job

21st century slavery in the Muslim world.

FROM STRATEGYPAGE.COM:

Embrace Islam, Or Lose Your Job

February 12, 2010: Islamic terrorism comes in many different forms. Christian Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia are complaining that their employers are threatening to fire them if they do not convert to Islam. It's against the law for a Moslem in Saudi Arabia to convert to another religion. The punishment is death, and anyone attempting to convert Moslems is subject to the death penalty. This sort of double standard, and use of coercion, is a big deal in the Philippines, although the government there, and in Saudi Arabia, try to play down this particular problem. There are about 200,000 Filipinos working in Saudi Arabia, and 600,000 throughout the Persian Gulf. The forced conversions are not widespread, yet. But several hundred are believed to have occurred, and the idea is catching on with employers who are conservative Moslems.

This sort of thing is political dynamite back in the Philippines because there, the Moslems are a minority, and a troublesome one at that. Various Moslem separatist groups have been fighting since the 1960s, and over 100,000 (mostly Moslems) have died. The fighting in the south is not only rebels versus the government, but also the many clan and political feuds that are common down there. The Moslem south is more violent than the rest of the country. And then there is the matter of proportion. Only about ten percent of the 92 million Filipinos are Moslem. The Christians dominate the government and the security forces.

Peace negotiations with Moslem separatist groups (mainly the MILF) in the south are currently stalled because of frictions within the Moslem community. Some factions want to work out a peace deal, but others want to keep fighting for a separate Moslem state on part of Mindanao island (the southernmost large island). The problem is, Moslems are only about a third of 22 million people on Mindanao island (the "Moslem" island). The rest are Christians, who do not want to share the island with an independent, or even autonomous, Moslem state. This is especially the case when they hear about forced conversions in Saudi Arabia.

Moreover, most of the Moslem population is intermixed with Christians, and the most radical Moslems want the Christians expelled. Thus the haggling is mainly over real estate. The Moslems in the south still claim "ancestral rights" (to administer, and collect taxes from) many areas that have become largely Christian in the past few decades. The Christian majority has been encroaching, on the sparsely populated areas of the Moslem south, for over a century. But this movement has accelerated as the economy has improved in the last decade. Many Moslems see their culture threatened, but armed resistance has not done much to help. The Moslems are very outnumbered, and have been losing battles for decades.

Saudi throws Kenyan maid out of top floor window

Fatuma Athuman talks of slavery in Saudi Arabia.
By KIBIWOTT KOROSS and ANTHONY KITIMO Posted Monday, January 11 2010 at 22:30

A Kenyan woman is accusing her Saudi employer of throwing her out of a third floor window, breaking her legs and hands. Another maid, just rescued by relatives, said she had to live on dog food because her employers neither fed her nor allowed her out of the house.

Ms Fatma Athman, of Kisauni, Mombasa, returned to the country last week with broken limbs and stories of near-slavery in Saudi Arabia where she was employed as a maid last May. She was lucky, she said, she landed in a swimming pool and not on the pavement. Now she is dependent on others to help her even with the simplest of chores.

Europeans As Victims of Colonialism

Here's a great history lesson from Fjordman that illustrates the long history of Islamic slave taking of Europeans, which greatly exceeded the slave trade of Africans to Europe and the Americas. The European slave trade lasted a few hundred years. Islamic slave trade has been happening for 1400 years and is still going on. By the way, the Atlantic slave trade would not have been possible without the already well established Muslim slave trade which preyed on Africans as well as Europeans and Hindus.

Read on if you want an education as to the true nature of Islam.

FROM GLOBALPOLITICIAN.COM:

Europeans As Victims of Colonialism (and Islamic slavery)
Fjordman - 7/27/2009

In my book Defeating Eurabia I have included a chapter entitled Fourteen Centuries of War Against European Civilization, which deals with Islamic colonization of and attacks on the European continent since the seventh century AD. This part of history, when Europeans were victims of colonialism and slave raids, deserves much more emphasis than it currently receives, when the focus is almost exclusively on the briefer European colonial period.

In 2008, demands were made that France must make reparations for its colonial past in Algeria. I’m not an expert on French colonial history, but if I recall correctly, the French were at least partly motivated for establishing themselves in Algeria due to the Barbary pirates, who continued their evil activities well into the nineteenth century. The period of French rule is the only period of civilization Algeria has experienced since the Romans. Muslims have been raiding Europe, especially the southern regions but sometimes even north of the Alps, since the seventh century. In fact, the only period during more than 1300 years when they haven’t done this was during the time of European colonialism. Moreover, there are now more North Africans in France than there ever were Frenchmen in North Africa. If non-Europeans can resist colonization and expel intruders, why can’t Europeans do the same thing?

Even among countries in Western Europe, only a minority have a significant colonial history, and several of them like Spain and Portugal had themselves been colonized before. Spain, which did have an extensive colonial empire, was herself a victim of colonialism significantly longer than she was a colonizer. As Ibn Warraq says in his book Defending the West :

“Where the French presence lasted fewer than four years before they were ignominiously expelled by the British and Turks, the Ottomans had been the masters of Egypt since 1517, a total of 280 years. Even if we count the later British and French protectorates, Egypt was under Western control for sixty-seven years, Syria for twenty-one years, and Iraq for only fifteen — and, of course, Saudi Arabia was never under Western control. Contrast this with southern Spain, which was under the Muslim yoke for 781 years, Greece for 381 years, and the splendid new Christian capital that eclipsed Rome — Byzantium — which is still in Muslim hands. But no Spanish or Greek politics of victimhood apparently exist.”

Paul Fregosi in his book Jihad in the West: Muslim Conquests from the 7th to the 21st Centuries calls Islamic Jihad “the most unrecorded and disregarded major event of history. It has, in fact, been largely ignored,” although it has been a fact of life in Europe, Asia and Africa for almost 1400 years. As Fregosi says, “Western colonization of nearby Muslim lands lasted 130 years, from the 1830s to the 1960s. Muslim colonization of nearby European lands lasted 1300 years, from the 600s to the mid-1960s. Yet, strangely, it is the Muslims…who are the most bitter about colonialism and the humiliations to which they have been subjected; and it is the Europeans who harbor the shame and the guilt. It should be the other way around.”

Slavery in Mauritania

Mauritania

Slavery is alive and well in North Africa. In the Islamic Republic of Mauritania alone there are over 600,000 slaves. BTW, Mauritania is a 100% Muslim country.

Here's a brief account of the appalling conditions you won't hear about in the mainstream media.

Where's Je$$e, and the Rev. Al Sharpton and the Rev. Wright on this issue? For that matter where's our Secretary of State Mrs.
Clinton and her boss Barack Barry Soetoro Hussein Obama?

The administrations silence on the issue of slavery is deafening.

Slavery in Mauritania
FROM THE TELEGRAPH.CO.UK:

Half a million African slaves are at the heart of Mauritania's presidential election

More than half a million slaves are at the heart of a presidential election battle in the former French colony of Mauritania.

By Nick Meo in Nouakchott, Mauritania
Published: 8:30AM BST 12 Jul 2009

A year after she ran away from her master, Barakatu Mint Sayed prays that the election on July 18 will mark the beginning of the end of slavery in Mauritania.
Her nation is one of the last places on Earth where large numbers of humans are still kept as property.

And like thousands of other slaves and freed slaves across the Saharan country, her hopes are fixed on an inspirational candidate, a man born to slave parents who has sworn to put an end to the practice of "owning" humans if he is elected president.
That candidate is Messaoud Ould Boulkheir, a 66-year-old former civil servant with a strong resemblance to the film actor Morgan Freeman. Mr Boulkheir has vowed that in power he would punish slave owners and do everything he can to free their human property.

His prospects of winning power are growing by the day - and he is being hailed as Mauritania's brightest star by his supporters.
"He is the Obama of Mauritania," said Boubacar Messaoud, an architect and veteran anti-slavery campaigner in the northwest African desert state. "He is going to bring change, and he represents social justice and equality."

Officially, slavery has long been abolished in Mauritania, but the law has never been enforced and there are an estimated 600,000 slaves, almost one in five of the country's 3.2 million people, almost 150 years since the American civil war.
Change will come too late to heal Mrs Sayed's ruined life. But she knows that victory for Mr Boulkheir could transform the future for the daughter and grandchildren whom she had to leave behind in captivity when she finally summoned the courage to escape.

A black African of Mauritania's Haratine caste, she was born into slavery about 40 years ago - she is illiterate and has only a hazy idea of time - and grew up as the property of an Arabic-speaking Berber family, in an oasis town deep in the desert.
While her master's children went to school, she was cooking, cleaning and washing from dawn to dusk. She slept on the floor, and suffered beatings.

"Sometimes I was too tired by the end of the day to eat my food," Mrs Sayed said at her new home in the capital, Nouakchott, where she now works as a paid housekeeper.
Aged about 10, she was separated from her mother by being given to a cousin of the master as a wedding gift. She remembers crying uncontrollably when they moved to a different town, where she was forbidden from leaving the master's house.

Muslim Countries lead in Trafficking and Slavery

Shyima Hall, 19, was photographed for the State Department report in the windowless garage where she was kept for two years. Shyima was 10 when a wealthy Egyptian couple brought her from a poor village in northern Egypt to work in their home in California. She used to wake before dawn and often worked past midnight ironing clothes, mopping the marble floors and dusting the family's crystal. She sometimes worked up to 20 hours a day and earned $45 a month. (Photo: Traffic in Persons Report 2009).

Nothing new here. Islam has since it's inception sanctioned the taking and selling of slaves. Good Muslims continue to follow Mohammed's example of military conquest and subjugation of non-Muslims.

by Gil Ronen hat tip Davida

(IsraelNN.com) Muslim countries in the Middle East and north-central Africa lead the world in human trafficking, according to a new U.S. State Department report. Of the 17 countries that were given the "Tier 3" listing reserved for the worst offenders, nine were Muslim countries or countries with a large Muslim population from these two regions. Tier 3 countries are defined as those “whose governments do not fully comply with the minimum standards" of the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 and "are not making significant efforts to do so.”
The Middle Eastern countries with Tier 3 status are Iran, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Syria. The north-central African countries are Mauritania, Chad, Sudan, Niger and Eritrea, all of which have very large Muslim populations.

Algeria, Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE and Lebanon are on the Tier 2 Watchlist – one step above Tier 3.

The data in the report indicates that Muslim countries in the Middle East and Africa are continuing their centuries-old practice of human trafficking. Historians estimate that between 9 and 14 million black Africans were brought to the Americas in the Atlantic slave trade and between 11 and 18 million black African slaves crossed the Red Sea, Indian Ocean, and Sahara Desert between the Muslim conquests in the 7th century and 1900.

Woman 'kept daughters-in-law as slaves

Well yeah, that's just the way it is in the Islamic world, where a woman's worth is at best half that of a man. This is another aspect of Islamic polygamy where second, third and fourth wives may become nothing more than household domestics.

What we are seeing here is another example of life under Sharia.

FROM THE DAILYMAIL.CO.UK:

Woman 'kept daughters-in-law as slaves and forced one to work on sewing machine night and day for 13 years'

'Totally dominating': Naseebah Bibi, pictured outside Preston Crown Court, is accused of keeping her sons' wives as prisoners in her Blackburn home
A cruel mother-in-law treated her sons' wives as 'slaves and dogs' and made one of them work on a sewing machine day and night for 13 years, a court heard today.
The three women came to the UK from Pakistan as part of arranged marriages and were allegedly kept as prisoners in the family house in Blackburn, Lancashire, against their will.

Preston Crown Court was told that Naseebah Bibi, 63, ruled the household with a regime of beatings and threats as she 'totally dominated' her victims.
One daughter-in-law was ordered to work on an industrial sewing machine from early in the morning to just before midnight every day as soon as she arrived at the house in 1993.

The prosecution said her ordeal only ended in 2006 when her three-year-son told nursery staff that his grandmother was the cause of bruising on his mother's hands.
Mother-of-five Bibi is alleged to have falsely imprisoned Nagina Akhtar between 1993 and 2006, Tazeem Akhtar from 2001 to 2003 and Nisbah Akhtar between 2005 and 2007. Bibi's son denies Nadeem Akhtar falsely imprisoning his wife Nisbah between 2005 and 2007.

Philip Boyd, prosecuting, said all three women had high expectations of a happy family life in England when they married their first cousins in Pakistan, but instead on their arrival they were abused and allowed no contact with the outside world.
He said: 'Tazeem Akhtar came expecting to live with her husband and have children, something she had dreamed of. Her dream was doomed.'
On her first day in Blackburn she learned that her husband, Nahim, already had a partner - a white woman - and two children.
Mr Boyd said: 'He had no intention of living as her husband. He effectively had his own life.

'She was treated like a slave. She was ignored by her husband and exploited by her mother-in-law.'

In her 18 months at the address - two houses converted into one - she was only allowed to leave the property once to visit a relative.
Sporadic phone calls were monitored by Bibi, she was not permitted to register with a doctor and her passport and travel documents were taken from her, Mr Boyd said.

Her daily routine was 'gruelling' as she was made to do all the housework for the family and was even forced to wash all clothes by hand in cold water despite the presence of a washing machine.
'If Tazeem disobeyed, she was beaten, screamed at and sworn at,' Mr Boyd told the jury.
Bibi would allegedly strike her on the arms and legs with a slipper and pull her hair, she only ate when given permission by Bibi and could only have one cup of tea per day.

In 2003 Bibi took Tazeem for a 'holiday' to Pakistan but instead she was effectively 'dumped' in the country and was unable to leave because her visa had expired.

Darfur civilians 'seized as slaves by Sudan military

Slavery is alive and well in Sudan. What this article manages not to mention is that those taking slaves are following a 1400 years of islamist tradition of taking slaves as booty. The Western media must name islam for what it is, a totalitarian, supremacist band of murderous thugs masquerading as a religion.

FROM THE TELEGRAPH.CO.UK:

Darfur civilians 'seized as slaves by Sudan military
Sudan's army and government-backed militia have abducted 'thousands' of civilians from Darfur, including children, to be used as sex slaves or for forced labour, according to a new report.

By Mike Pflanz in Nairobi
Last Updated: 3:37PM GMT 17 Dec 2008

Many were kidnapped as mounted gunmen from the feared Janjaweed militia swept through their villages and were then marched to military camps where they were repeatedly raped, forced to prepare food, clean fighters' homes or work in their fields.
The report claims that others were flown across the country, where women were sold into forced marriages with soldiers and children were made to carry out domestic duties with no chance of escape.

The report, by the Darfur Consortium, a coalition of 50 African and international charities, said that the practice exactly mirrors the forced enslavement of 14,000 people from Sudan's south during its 1983 to 2005 war with Khartoum.
As then, the government of President Omar al-Bashir has again "comprehensively failed in its duty to protect its citizens from abductions", the report says, adding that its research showed "hundreds, but more likely thousands" of Darfuris had been abducted since the war there started in 2003.

Islam, the big misunderstanding

Yeah, a big misunderstanding that has been going on for 1,400 years. Gimmie a break.

FROM ISLAM IN ACTION:

Islam, the big misunderstanding

We constantly hear from Muslims that the Koran is being misinterpreted, when asked why so many Muslims are using the Koran to justify their actions. Well for arguments sake lets just look at modern history, the Barbary Coast Wars.

During the year 1786 Thomas Jefferson and John Adams went to London to speak with Tripoli's Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdrahaman. Jefferson and Adams asked the Ambassador how can they make war on nations that have done nothing to them? The Ambassador replied that "It was written in their Koran, that all nations which had not acknowledged the Prophet were sinners, whom it was the right and duty of the faithful to plunder and enslave; and that every Muslim who was slain in this warfare was sure to go to paradise. He said, also, that the man who was the first to board a vessel had one slave over and above his share, and that when they sprang to the deck of an enemy's ship, every sailor held a dagger in each hand and a third in his mouth; which usually struck such terror into the foe that they cried out for quarter at once".

So even back then Muslims were using the Koran to justify their violent actions. My question is this, if Muslims that are saying the Koran is being misinterpreted are correct, then how come in over 200 years they have not been able to clear up this misunderstanding with in the Islamic world? Or is it just that they know that the Koran is not being misterterperted and that they are just being dishonest with us?

Islamic Slavery in the 21st Century

I found this at The Gates of Vienna. A very revealing look at the built-in acceptance of slavery in islam.

Islamic Slavery in the 21st Century

by Baron Bodissey
“Nazis are… the least of our problems. Our problem is… that there has been an unexpected alliance between the far Left — and the Left — and the Muslims. Both of these are ideologies that are based on radical critiques of Western Civilization, both of them are universalist, Islam and the Left, and both of them are anti-national.”

WHEN EUROPEANS WERE SLAVES

A very interesting insight into the history of Europeaaan Christians being enslaved by Arabic Muslims in between 1530 and 1780. I'm sure CAIR and the other "usual suspects" will spit and sputter in a great rage that an accurate history of islam has been presented.

FROM RESEARCHNEWS.OSU.EDU:

WHEN EUROPEANS WERE SLAVES: RESEARCH SUGGESTS WHITE SLAVERY WAS MUCH MORE COMMON THAN PREVIOUSLY BELIEVED

A new study suggests that a million or more European Christians were enslaved by Muslims in North Africa between 1530 and 1780 – a far greater number than had ever been estimated before.

In a new book, Robert Davis, professor of history at Ohio State University, developed a unique methodology to calculate the number of white Christians who were enslaved along Africa’s Barbary Coast, arriving at much higher slave population estimates than any previous studies had found.

Most other accounts of slavery along the Barbary coast didn’t try to estimate the number of slaves, or only looked at the number of slaves in particular cities, Davis said. Most previously estimated slave counts have thus tended to be in the thousands, or at most in the tens of thousands. Davis, by contrast, has calculated that between 1 million and 1.25 million European Christians were captured and forced to work in North Africa from the 16th to 18th centuries.
Davis’s new estimates appear in the book Christian Slaves, Muslim Masters: White Slavery in the Mediterranean, the Barbary Coast, and Italy, 1500-1800 (Palgrave Macmillan).

“Enslavement was a very real possibility for anyone who traveled in the Mediterranean, or who lived along the shores in places like Italy, France, Spain and Portugal, and even as far north as England and Iceland.”

“Much of what has been written gives the impression that there were not many slaves and minimizes the impact that slavery had on Europe,” Davis said. “Most accounts only look at slavery in one place, or only for a short period of time. But when you take a broader, longer view, the massive scope of this slavery and its powerful impact become clear.”
Davis said it is useful to compare this Mediterranean slavery to the Atlantic slave trade that brought black Africans to the Americas. Over the course of four centuries, the Atlantic slave trade was much larger – about 10 to 12 million black Africans were brought to the Americas. But from 1500 to 1650, when trans-Atlantic slaving was still in its infancy, more white Christian slaves were probably taken to Barbary than black African slaves to the Americas, according to Davis.

“One of the things that both the public and many scholars have tended to take as given is that slavery was always racial in nature – that only blacks have been slaves. But that is not true,” Davis said. “We cannot think of slavery as something that only white people did to black people.”
During the time period Davis studied, it was religion and ethnicity, as much as race, that determined who became slaves.

ARAB PRINCESSES ACCUSED OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN BELGIUM

Interesting that this should happen in Brussels, the global home of Political Correctness. Also interesting that Brussels authorities allowed human traffickers (AKA muslim slavers) to just leave the country, but not surprising. I guess they'll now issue a toothless international warrant. What a bunch of two-faced cowards.

FROM ANSAMED:

ARAB PRINCESSES ACCUSED OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN BELGIUM

(ANSAmed) - BRUSSELS, JULY 29 -

An emir's widow and her four daughters will have to answer to a charge of trafficking because they enslaved some twenty domestics on the fourth floor of luxury hotel Conrad in Brussels where they had been living for a few months. It was decided by the labour court which ruled after the denouncement of two maids who succeeded in escaping and giving alarm. The case is from July 1. The maids arrived with the princesses aboard a private jet and for months had been employed in conditions of super-exploitation. After the intervention of the police eleven workers received recognition of their status of victims of trafficking. The emir's family, despite saying they want to cooperate with the Belgian justice, after the intervention of the policemen left the hotel and returned in the United Arab Emirates. According to the charges, the princesses, once the judges after having carried out the inquiry send back the dossiers to the court, risk from two to five years of imprisonment. (ANSAmed).
