Israel: 150 Palestinian prisoners to be released soon

WTF is wrong with Ehud Olmert? Is he under control of the muslims? Is he so corrupt he's selling out the Jewish people? Is he so totally incompetent he can't see what he's doing? There's just no rational, positive explanation for his actions.

At this rate Capo Olmert will release every muslim terrorist in Israeli custody by the time he leaves office. Olmert is a traitor to Israel and to every Jew on the planet. The blood of every Jew killed by one of these animals will be on Olmert's head.

Israel: 150 Palestinian prisoners to be released soon

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has said he will resign after party primaries in September and allow the new leader to form a new coalition government.

Jerusalem, 6 August (AKI) - One hundred and fifty Palestinian prisoners will be released at the end of August as a sign of goodwill, said Israeli government spokesperson Mark Regev on Wednesday.

The announcement took place after President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert met in Jerusalem for the first time since Olmert announced his intention to resign in September.

Both parties discussed how a change in Israeli leadership will affect peace talks. Negotiating teams from both sides attended the meeting.

There was no mention of which prisoners would be released. Earlier reports mentioned that Abbas would ask for the release of jailed Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti and Ahmed Saadat, secretary general of the military and political organisation, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

Five Palestinian teenagers were released from Israeli prisons earlier on Wednesday as part of the prisoner exchange deal between Israel and the Shia militant group, Hezbollah.

Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat also confirmed the news of the new prisoner release discussed at Wednesday's meeting.

Olmert said in late July that he would resign after party primaries are held on 17 September and allow the party leader to form a new coalition government.

According to experts, the two candidates with the best chance of winning the leadership race are Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Livni, and current Minister of Transportation Shaul Mofaz.

Top Palestinian Authority officials have said in the past few days that the election of Mofaz would be disastrous for the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians.

However, experts have said that whoever wins the primaries will be unable to form a ruling coalition, opening the door for new elections early next year, thus leaving Olmert as caretaker prime minister.
