US Ambassador Presents Obama Statue to Indonesian Children

Barack Barry Soetoro Hussein Obama is being honored by his fellow Muslims in Indonesia with a statue of him as a child.  It is rather fitting inasmuch as Obama was born a Muslim and attended school as a Muslim while he lived in Indonesia.  The statue was commissioned and paid for by the Friends of Obama Foundation, the people who raised money for his campaign.

The Jakarta Globe quotes Ron Muller, the chairman of the Friends of Obama Foundation, as saying on Tuesday that, "the statue is being erected to inspire Indonesian school children and help them remember that they can be whatever they set their hearts on."

Mr. Muller added that the Obama statue was intended to remind children that someone their age who once played in the neighborhood had ascended to the status of a world leader.
Mr. Muller's foundation had commissioned the statue, which was designed by Edi Chaniago, who worked for three months to complete the project.

According to the Jakarta Globe, "the project was sponsored by 10 individuals, including busineswoman Mien R. Uno and businessman Hashin Djojohadikusomo. Mullers said the statue's location had been selected because the area had been

Obama's playground when he lived in Jakarta as a young boy in the 1970s. Obama moved to Jakarta with his mother, Ann Durham, and his Indonesian stepfather, Lodo Soetoro. Dunlop and Lodo met at the University of Hawaii.

Governor Fauzi Bowo of Jakarta is expected to attend the glorious unveiling of the statue.
