Islam comes to America.

FROM ATLASSHRUGS:

Mom in Atlanta Accused of Clitorectomizing 10 Month Old Daughter

Coming to America.  Notice the Jewish dhimmi's use of the world "circumcising"  in the below article. This has nothing to do with circumcision. This is an Islamic custom (95% of the girls in Egypt have been clitorectomized.) It is widely practiced in Africa as well.

The metro Atlanta, Ga., woman, Melody Onyonyor, was taken in to custody following the results of an investigation by the Troup County Sheriff's Office and the Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS). Apparently, a relative of the baby's father had tipped off investigators, after they had changed the infant's diaper and noticed that the child's genitals had been severely cut.

Mom accused of circumcising infant girl AJC

A 35-year-old mother was arrested for allegedly circumcising her 10-month-old daughter, police said.

The LaGrange woman is currently being held in the Troup County jail without bond, Sgt. Chad Mann told the AJC. She faces female genital mutilation and child cruelty charges, Mann said.

"A relative changing the baby noticed that she appeared to be circumcised," Mann said.

The AJC is not publishing the mother's name to avoid identifying the infant.

The baby was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, where a doctor determined she had undergone some form of surgical removal of the clitoris, Mann said. The baby's father was previously granted temporary custody, and he alerted authorities about the child's injury, police said.

"She's in perfect health, other than that," Mann said.

yeah right.

The procedure has no health benefits, and can cause severe bleeding and problems urinating, the WHO states on its Web site

Female genital mutilation remains problem, group warns

Another report on female genital mutilation.  While it is not restricted to Muslims, it follows Islamic immigration into the West.

Austrian Social Democratic MP Petra Bayr claims that "the only way to change such thinking was to engage in awareness-raising and make it clear to parents that genital mutilation was neither called for by religion nor a pre-condition for finding a husband."
I would suggest that long, long prison terms for child abuse, physical and psycological abuse and sexual deviancy would greatly enhance any "awareness-raising" Ms Bayr might propose to combat female genital mutilation.

FROM AUSTRIANTIMES.AT:

Female genital mutilation remains problem, group warns

Between 6,000 and 8,000 women in Austria have been forced to undergo genital mutilation, according to Social Democratic MP Petra Bayr.

Bayr, a member of the Austrian Platform against Female Genital Mutilation, said today: "Many parents believe they are doing their daughters a favour by forcing them to undergo it."

She said the only way to change such thinking was to engage in awareness-raising and make it clear to parents that genital mutilation was neither called for by religion nor a pre-condition for finding a husband.

Rather, she added, genital mutilation was a violation of human rights that left its victims mentally and physically damaged for the rest of their lives.

Bayr added that her group was working with health personnel, migrant organisations and religious leaders to try to change the situation.

Such work, she claimed, had been bearing fruit. "The situation is better than before," and there was more counselling available, she said.

Bayr said the Platform wanted 6 February - proclaimed "International Day of Zero Tolerance of Female Genital Mutilation" at the Inter African Committee conference seven years ago - to become a UN commemorative day to increase public awareness of the problem.

The Platform will also begin a Europe-wide campaign against genital mutilation with an event on 17 February at Palais Epstein in Vienna.

Greens’ women’s spokeswoman Judith Schwentner called for asylum for all prospective victims of genital mutilation, "a serious assault on the physical and sexual integrity of women and a serious violation of human rights."

The Platform claims 155 million women around the world have been subject to genital mutilation, and Amnesty International says three million women a year, or 8,000 a day, are forced to undergo it.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has said the practice is most common in northern and western areas of Africa and is not restricted to Muslims.

Female Circumcision Banned in Uganda

Good news, a victory in a sea of barbarism and darkness.  Uganda has banned the barbaric practice of female genital mutilation (FGM).  Only time will tell if this noble effort will reverse centuries of barbarism against women.  Hopefully, the government will be able to enforce the new law and educate the population to save young girls from the horror of FGM.

FROM NEWSTIMEAFRICA.COM:

Female Circumcision Banned in Uganda

The Ugandan Parliament have unanimously voted to make female genital mutilation a crime in the country. According to the new law, anyone caught in the practice of female circumcision, will face a jail term of ten years, or a life sentence if someone dies as a result of the act. Female genital mutilation involves the cutting off the female clitoris and is seen in most African countries as a method used to protect virginity that will make women suitable for marriages.

Most African traditions makes it a taboo to marry a young woman who is not circumcised.
The crude method often use with unsterilized blades that pass for medical instruments and the lack of proper anaesthesia has often come under serious criticism by health groups around the world. African governments have come under tremendous pressure to pass legislation that will end such practices. But the traditional and cultural wrath most government face from the custodians of such cultural rights have often than not prevented governments to pursue such legislation.

Across the African continent and some parts of Asia where the acts are more predominant, there has been a sharp increase in deaths of young girls being forced to take part in such brutal savagery. And most times young girls have to endure bleeding, shock and infections.

Forty Percent of Somali Women in Netherlands Genitally Mutilated'

Where to begin. The good news is that the Netherlands acknowledge that 40 per cent of Somali immigrant women have had their clitoris cut out in a barbaric Muslim practice. The bad news is that the Dutch believe that 40 percent is "relatively few".

Health State Secretary Jet Bussemaker (I assume the top government official for health in the Netherlands) believes that because 90 percent of Somali women in Somalia have undergone female genital mutilation, the Netherlands should be proud of it 40 % rate.

He then goes on to say that midwives (and OB/GYN doctors and anyone else in the health field I hope.) would register this form of mutilation. Which begs the question, what other forms of mutilation is he aware of? And then what will Holland do about it?

Anyway, The good secretary adds that the midwives will be trained how to discuss circumcision (mutilation) with the families. A noble goal, but one which is as doomed to failure as it is out of touch with Islamic culture. And so a white, middle class Dutch midwife (through an interpreter) is going to "educate" Muslim women with a 1400 year history of Islamic female genital mutilation and male domination, as to the evils of female genital mutilation, with her husband and relatives standing there. Yeah right.

But at least the Dutch are aware of the basic problem. Now if they only DO something about it.

FROM NISNEWS.NL:

Forty Percent of Somali Women in Netherlands Genitally Mutilated'
THE HAGUE, 30/05/09

Four out of ten Somali and Ethiopian women who give birth in the Netherlands have been genitally mutilated. This is relatively few, Health State Secretary Jet Bussemaker wrote to the Lower House on Friday.

The figures were recorded by research organisation TNO after questioning midwives. The number of cases of female circumcision is fairly low, since nine out of ten women in the countries of origin have been circumcised, Bussemaker reasoned.

To obtain a better picture of female circumcision, the state secretary previously announced that midwives would be registering this form of mutilation. They will also be trained in how to discuss circumcision with families.

Is Female Genital Mutilation an Islamic Problem?

This is a very detailed and well documented account of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). The horror of this practice has been suppressed both by it's practitioners throughout the Islamic world, and shamefully, by "enlightened" Western governments.

FROM MEFORUM.ORG:

Is Female Genital Mutilation an Islamic Problem?
by Thomas von der Osten-Sacken and Thomas Uwer

Middle East Quarterly
Winter 2007, pp. 29-36

Among social activists and feminists, combating female genital mutilation (FGM) is an important policy goal. Sometimes called female circumcision or female genital cutting, FGM is the cutting of the clitoris of girls in order to curb their sexual desire and preserve their sexual honor before marriage. The practice, prevalent in some majority Muslim countries, has a tremendous cost: many girls bleed to death or die of infection. Most are traumatized. Those who survive can suffer adverse health effects during marriage and pregnancy. New information from Iraqi Kurdistan raises the possibility that the problem is more prevalent in the Middle East than previously believed and that FGM is far more tied to religion than many Western academics and activists admit.

Many Muslims and academics in the West take pains to insist that the practice is not rooted in religion[1] but rather in culture. "When one considers that the practice does not prevail and is much condemned in countries like Saudi Arabia, the center of the Islamic world, it becomes clear that the notion that it is an Islamic practice is a false one," Haseena Lockhat, a child clinical psychologist at North Warwickshire Primary Care Trust, wrote.[2] True, FGM occurs in non-Muslim societies in Africa. And in Arab states such as Egypt, where perhaps 97 percent of girls suffer genital mutilation,[3] both Christian Copts and Muslims are complicit.
But at the village level, those who commit the practice believe it to be religiously mandated. Religion is not only theology but also practice. And the practice is widespread throughout the Middle East. Many diplomats, international organization workers, and Arabists argue that the problem is localized to North Africa or sub-Saharan Africa,[4] but they are wrong. The problem is pervasive throughout the Levant, the Fertile Crescent, and the Arabian Peninsula, and among many immigrants to the West from these countries. Silence on the issue is less reflective of the absence of the problem than insufficient freedom for feminists and independent civil society to raise the issue.

U.S. grants asylum to Malian victim of female genital mutilation

Well here's something good for a change. The Attorney General is stepping in to protect a woman from deportation to Mali where she will face the life of a female slave under sharia law.

FROM JIHADWATCH.ORG:

The Attorney General has accomplished a very worthwhile task here in raising the issue of female genital mutilation in the mainstream media, as many in the United States likely don't even know the practice exists, let alone that it is so widespread. Mukasey himself probably doesn't know it is considered obligatory in the Shafi'i school of Islamic jurisprudence (cf. Umdat al-Salik e4.3), and justified with references to ahadith.

But there is much more Western countries could be doing to eradicate this practice, from speaking out against it more frequently to tying aid to meaningful and verifiable steps in outlawing the practice and punishing the perpetrators. And above all, no sense of "cultural sensitivity" should stop them from making every effort to keep immigrants from those countries from continuing the practice in the West.

"AG: Don't deport genital mutilation victim," by Terry Frieden for CNN, September 22:
WASHINGTON (CNN) --

The U.S. attorney general is trying to prevent immigration authorities from sending a Muslim woman to her home country, where she was a victim of female genital mutilation.
In a stinging order overriding federal immigration courts, Mukasey blasted a decision that said a 28-year-old citizen and native of Mali should be expelled "because her genitalia already had been mutilated [so] she had no basis to fear future persecution if returned to her home country."
Calling the rationale "flawed," Mukasey sent the case back to the Board of Immigration Appeals with orders to reconsider.
The woman, a native of Mali, begged the court not to send her back to her Bambara tribe.
The 28-year-old said if she returned and had a daughter, the child also would be subject to mutilation. The woman also said she faced forced marriage if she had to go home.
Mukasey cited what he concluded were two significant factual errors in the court's rejection of her appeal.

"Female genital mutilation is not necessarily a one-time event," Mukasey said. He noted that the board in a previous case had granted asylum in to one woman whose "vaginal opening was sewn shut approximately five times after being opened to allow for sexual intercourse and child birth."
He also concluded that the Board of Immigration Appeals was wrong to assume that the woman "must fear persecution in exactly the same form [namely, repeat female genital mutilation] to qualify for relief."
Mukasey had been urged to look into the matter by angered members of Congress in the wake of the January decision.
"This recent action taken by the Board of Immigration Appeals is a step backward for the rights of women worldwide," declared Rep. John Conyers, D-Michigan, in a January letter.
"Female genital mutilation is a gross violation of a woman's human rights and has traditionally been grounds for the granting of an asylum claim," Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-California, said in the letter.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont, issued a statement applauding Mukasey's action, and declaring female genital mutilation a "barbaric practice widely regarded as a human rights abuse."

The Justice Department acknowledged it is extraordinarily rare for an attorney general to jump into a relatively low-level immigration case. The immigration courts decide about 40,000 cases a year, and an attorney general has issued an opinion on a case only three times in the past three years.

Female genital mutilation is common in parts of Africa, Asia and in some Arab countries, according to the United Nations. The operation is viewed by some ethnic groups as a means to control a woman's sexuality and is sometimes a prerequisite for marriage or the right to inherit...

Female circumcision a tradition steeped in blood

Another look at the horrendous and barbaric practice of Female Genital Mutilation.

"Then it was my turn. I didn't know what was happening, but it hurt so much I thought that I was going to die. They must have used a knife but I couldn't see it. It felt like having all of your nails ripped off at the same moment. There was no anaesthetic...."

What this article fails to mention is that virtually all Female Genital Mutilation takes place within Islamic society. This is what some factions within Islam want to impose on all of humanity.

FROM THE INDEPENDENT.CO.UK:

Female circumcision a tradition steeped in blood
Brian Brady reports on a police operation to protect more than 20,000 girls, some aged nine or younger, thought to be in danger of forced genital mutilation
Sunday, 22 June 2008

Police are to stage high-profile checks on flights to a number of African states in an attempt to stop young girls being taken abroad to be forcibly mutilated with the consent of their parents.
Research commissioned by the Department of Health suggests that more than 20,000 British girls are at risk of being forced into the agonising procedure, where all or part of their external genitals are cut off and stitched up. Officers will question all adults taking girls on certain flights, believing it is their best chance of saving thousands of children from female genital mutilation at the hands of tribal "elders" called in by their own families.
Moves to tackle the culturally sensitive issue will come as ministers from several government departments struggle to stamp out the ancient tribal tradition amid evidence that thousands of British girls are at risk from a ritual that is supposed to mark their transition into womanhood.
The campaign group the Foundation for Women's Health and Development (Forward UK) estimates that around 11,000 British-based girls aged between nine and 15 have undergone the ritual – in the UK or in their parents' home countries.
The study, the first to gauge the prevalence of the practice in Britain, concluded that at least 66,000 women already living in this country are victims of "female circumcision". Hospitals and clinics across the country have reported an increasing number of women showing evidence of the mutilation, which often has a devastating impact on their health and ability to give birth naturally.

Children as young as five are held down and cut, sometimes with razor blades or broken glass, in a ritual driven by a range of cultural demands, including a desire to demonstrate a girl's virginity on her wedding night. The practice, which survives mainly in 28 countries in East and West Africa, has been targeted as a fundamental human rights violation in recent years by the United Nations and individual states, including the UK.
The World Health Organisation estimates that up to 140 million girls and women around the world have suffered some type of genital mutilation, and around three million girls, most of them under 15, undergo the procedure every year. It is estimated that almost 175,000 women from countries that still practise the procedure now live in England and Wales.
Somalian supermodel Iman, who is married to David Bowie, avoided the mutilation thanks to her parents, who maintained that she had gone to a hospital to have the procedure done when, in fact, she was preparing to go to university. She has spoken out against the practice, like her cousin Waris Dirie. Ms Dirie, who suffered the procedure at the age of five, retired from modelling in 1997 to focus on her work against genital mutilation and was appointed Special Ambassador for the Elimination of Female Genital Mutilation by Kofi Annan, then UN Secretary-General.

She said of her ordeal: "I felt not complete with myself as a woman. Some days I felt so powerless."
Since 1985, Britain has passed two laws banning the practice, and social workers, teachers, police and health officials have been given training in how to recognise and treat victims and children identified as being at risk. But pressure groups and opposition politicians last night warned that the Government was not doing enough to tackle the issue, or even to investigate the true extent of the problem.
Labour MP Ann Clwyd, who pushed through a bill making it illegal to perform the procedure on a British citizen anywhere in the world, complained that it was "an absolute disgrace" that no one had been prosecuted under the new regulations. And Theresa May, the shadow Minister for Women, said the Government did not have an overall national strategy for stamping out the practice.
She said: "It seems this is an area where the Government thinks it could just put down legislation and that would sort it out. But we have had no prosecutions and, in the meantime, ministers have admitted to us that they have not issued any guidance to professionals on what action to take if they find someone who has been a victim."
Police and government officials admit that they are "disappointed" at the failure to prosecute anyone accused of carrying out or aiding and abetting genital mutilation. A £20,000 reward offered last year by the Metropolitan Police in partnership with the Waris Dirie Foundation failed to generate any prosecutions. Senior officers claim this demonstrates the ties of family and community loyalty that keep the practice underground.

EGYPT PARLIMENT OKAYS CLITORECTOMIES

Now it's official, Egyptian law protects female genital mutilation.

FROM ATLAS SHRUGS:

EGYPT PARLIMENT OKAYS CLITORECTOMIES
Over 90 percent of the female population of Egypt has had their clitorises removed.

The US gives these barbarians 300 million a year. W magazine does glowing spreads on these savages.

The New York Times magazine did a glowing cultural piece on cliterror (here).

Feminsts are silent.

(I vlogged about that here.)

There is something seriously wrong.

Egyptian Parliament Okays Female Genital Mutilation

Israel National News hat tip Yisrael
(IsraelNN.com) Conservatives in the Egyptian parliament have made female genital mutilation (circumcision) legal again in Egypt. The conservatives succeeded in striking several laws that had been passed by the parliament's religious Shura Council in the past. The laws canceled also include a law limiting marriage age to 18 and up, a law permitting a mother to register a child on her name and a law allowing neighbors of a family that beats its children to report the beatings to the police.

One of the parliament's members said that the law permitting a mother to register a child on her name "encourages adultery."
A Cairo appellate judge who is also the legal advisor to the Council for the Mother and Child said that the decision to strike the laws contravened international agreements signed by Egypt.

UK: 66,000 women and girls have undergone female genital mutilation

Muslims do not integrate, they colonize. They do not truly accept the laws and mores of their adopted country, they attempt to change it. They do not live in the 21st century, they live in the barbarism of the 7th. They do however, wish to force Sharia on the world. Muslims consistently claim that FGM is not an Islamic thing. However, read this article and decide for yourself. It's a well researched and documented paper putting the spotlight on a widespread act of barbarism, even in the western world.
FROM DHIMMIWATCH:
UK 66,000 women and girls have undergone female genital mutilation
Eurabia Alert. "The unspeakable practice of female circumcision that's destroying young women's lives in Britain," by Jo-Ann Goodwin and David Jones in the Daily Mail (thanks to Sugiero):
...During a highly disturbing, four-month investigation, however, we uncovered evidence that thousands of British-African girls, in towns and cities throughout the country, have been forcibly "cut".
By conservative estimates, 66,000 women and girls living in Britain have been mutilated. This figure, accepted by the Metropolitan Police, came in a report by a volunteer organisation funded by the Department of Health and carried out with academics from the London School of Tropical Hygiene and the City University.
And thousands more girls are at imminent risk as families club together to fly professional "cutters" from Africa to Britain.
These women "elders" perform the crude operation for up to £40 a time, often on kitchen tables or floors, without anaesthetic, using filthy, blunt knives, razor blades or scalpels.[...]
But of course, the increasingly dhimmi Daily Mail hastens to assure us, it has nothing to do with Islam:
Attempts are also made to justify this iniquitous practice on religious grounds. Some hard-line Muslims insist that women must undergo genital cutting to remain faithful to the purest teachings of Islam - although, in truth, it is not even mentioned in the Koran, and only ambiguously in the Hadith (a collection of oral traditions about the life of the prophet Mohammed).[...]
In reality, while many say that there is nothing in Islam which requires female circumcision, one of Sunni Islam’s “Four Great Imams,” Ahmad ibn Hanbal (from whom the Hanbali school of Islamic jurisprudence takes its name) quotes Muhammed as saying: “Circumcision is a law for men and a preservation of honour for women.”
Sheikh Muhammad Sayyed Tantawi of Egypt’s Al-Azhar University has called circumcision “a laudable practice that did honor to women.”
But the Daily Mail either doesn't know or doesn't care to know about such Islamic justifications for this practice. Yet as long as they remain unconfronted, this barbarity will continue.
