Just how blatant can Obama be in his unrelenting efforts to have Sharia law imposed on America? To call the mass murder of 13 US citizens by a Muslim fanatic who was shouting Allah Akbar as he did so a mere instance of "workplace violence" is beyond criminal, in the case of Obama, being the President,it is treasonous.

Sen. Susan Collins on Wednesday blasted the Defense Department and the Obama administration for classifying the Fort Hood terror massacre as ‘workplace violence’, she suggested political correctness is being placed above the security of the nation’s Armed Forces at home.

Collins a Republican from Main also referenced a letter from the Defense Department depicting the Fort Hood shootings as workplace violence. She criticized the Obama administration for failing to identify the true threat which was al-Qaeda and radicalized Islam.

Intelligence agencies originally intercepted communications between the military psychiatrist Hasan whom murdered 13 people at Fort Hood, Tex., and a radical cleric in Yemen known for his incendiary anti-American teachings. His name was Anwar al-Awlaki, once a ‘spiritual leader’ at a mosque in suburban Virginia where Major Hasan once worshiped and became radicalized.

Al-Awlaki left the United States to become the “regional commander” within the al-Qaeda terrorist organization in 2009. He repeatedly called for jihad against the United States. Al-Awlaki encouraged others to “fight jihad” he had a sermon in 2009 posted on his blog ”44 Ways to Support Jihad“.

After the Fort Hood shooting, on his website al-Awlaki praised Hasan’s actions, Hasan and Al-Awlaki communicated with at least 20 emails back and fourth before the Fort Hood terrorist act. Al-Awlaki acknowledged his correspondence with Hasan. Somehow the Obama administration refuses to connect the dots with Hasan to al-Qaeda despite these communications.

Faisal Shahzad, convicted of the attempted car bombing of Times Square in May 2010, told interrogators that he too was “inspired by” al-Awlaki, as well as Seattle Weekly cartoonist death threat among many other threats throughout UK and the USA including a passenger plan plot, a stabbing of a British minister and a cargo plan plot.

On September 30, 2011, in northern Yemen’s al-Jawf province, two Predator drones fired Hellfire missiles at a vehicle containing al-Awlaki and three other suspected al-Qaeda members, he was killed.

Rep. Peter King of New York said: ”There’s a definite threat from Islamic radicalization in various parts of our society, including within the military, and we can’t allow political correctness to keep us from exposing this threat for what it is.”

Also the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, Connecticut independent Sen. Joe Lieberman, said the military has become a “direct target of violent Islamist extremism” within the United States.

Is the Obama administration delusional or simply trying to knowingly mislead the American people as to the real motivation behind Hasans’ terrorist act?

Rice report on home grown jihadi

This is just staggering, but not unexpected if one had followed the progression of the Islamization of America over the past 10 years. This report pretty well puts to rest the myth that there are no Muslim jihadists in America, or that there are no "home grown" Muslim terrorists.

If nothing else this report should be a wake up call for the American people and our leaders to stop denying the existence of Muslim terrorists among us. Denial is the fast track to our destruction as a civilization.

Report: More than half of people arrested for Islamic terrorist activities were American citizens

Sixty percent of people arrested for Islamic terrorist activities between January 2009 and April 2011 were American citizens, according to a new report from Rice University's Baker Institute for Public Policy. The study of 104 people who were arrested included U.S. and non-U.S. citizens living in America or abroad.

The report, "Analyzing the Islamic Extremist Phenomenon in the United States: A Study of Recent Activity," was authored by Joan Neuhaus Schaan, fellow in homeland security at the Baker Institute. Jessica Phillips, an intern with the Baker Institute's homeland security and terrorism program, provided research support for the study.

Using data from international and U.S. news reports, general Internet media, public records and official court documents, the researchers set out in November 2010 to analyze information on the status of Islamic extremism in the United States. They also looked at some of the unanswered questions raised by U.S. Rep. Peter King's Committee on Homeland Security hearing, "The Extent of Radicalization in the American Muslim Community and That Community's Response." King, R-N.Y., and chair of the committee, held the hearing March 10, 2011.

"Providing policymakers this data can allow for a factual discussion and diminish rhetoric," Neuhaus Schaan said. "Consequently, policy can be crafted to address current and future needs in the face of change and adaptation by those determined to bring harm to the United States."

Other key findings from the report include:

* Of the 104 people arrested for Islamic extremist activities between January 2009 and April 2011, half were born in the U.S., 22 percent were naturalized citizens and 7 percent were dual citizens.
* Of the 104, 5 percent entered the U.S. on a visa.
* Sixty-three percent of converts had a known prior criminal record.
* Of the 14 American converts with a prior criminal history, at least 55 percent had converted to Islam in prison.
* Ninety-two 92 percent were male.
* Sixty-four percent were 30 years old or younger.
* Sixty-six percent had traveled or were in the process of traveling to the Middle East, Somalia, South Asia or the Balkans.
* Of the 104, 70 percent had an association or were attempting an association with an internationally recognized terrorist organization; al-Qaida and its associated branches were cited most.
* Of the 29 persons with no known association to a group, 11 had been active on terrorist-related chat rooms and websites.
* Overall, 38 percent had been involved in this Internet activity.
* Only 10 of the 104 are what the authors would consider "lone wolves"; most in the cohort had ties to others in the group or to an organization.

Information on birthplaces and conversion to Islam was available for 77 of the 104 people arrested. The data revealed that 60 percent of the group was born outside the U.S. Of the 31 U.S.-born persons where religion of origin could be determined , 14 were born into Muslim families and 17 converted to Islam.

"The Internet and prison conversion are the two biggest new trends that policymakers need to look at more closely," Neuhaus Schaan said. "We've seen a major change in how people become associated with extremist groups in the past 20 years, and we need to adapt."

The report concludes that approximately two-thirds of those involved in extremist activity are men under the age of 34, and no single, all-encompassing profile can be made of the analysis group of 104. Neuhaus Schaan said that the Baker Institute will continue to compile data and issue an updated report annually.

Terror suspect accused of trying to hit FBI agent

Just a terrorist suspect. No mention of his affiliations, what ideology he espouses or his religion, just that he has contacted some mysterious FTO, Foreign Terrorist Organization. Maybe he's a Quaker, they shape their beards like this guy. But then again so do the Egyptian "religious police".

Even more important than the arrest of this "suspected" Muslim terrorist, is the fact that the newspaper refuses to name the enemy. The paper would have no trouble naming a Christian's religion if he were suspected of terrorism. Not saying the name of the Devil will not protect you from him.

Terror suspect accused of trying to hit FBI agent

DETROIT -- A federal judge in Michigan has ordered a man suspected of supporting terrorist groups held on allegations he tried to crash into the car of an FBI agent who was following him as part of heightened security for the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Reed S. Berry, 26, of St. Joseph was under surveillance because of his suspected terrorist links, according to an FBI affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids.

The government has said the links include Internet communication with one or more groups involved in international terrorism.

Defense lawyer Elias Muawad said what the government has labeled terrorist links in court filings appear to be online speech protected by the First Amendment. He also said his client, Berry, has been upset about being under investigation for months, subject to searches and barred from air travel.

"He was feeling like a caged person," Muawad told The Associated Press on Sunday.

According to the Sept. 23 complaint that charged Berry with assaulting a federal officer, the FBI executed a search warrant March 9 seeking evidence linking Berry to foreign terrorist groups.

Muslim pair, American citizens, accused of plotting anti-military attack

Two more natural born American converts to Islam have been apprehended while plotting to commit Jihad via a murderous terror attack. These two represent a movement brought here by the global Islamic jihad. We can expect to see more of these home-grown terrorists attacking their fellow Americans while attempting to impose Sharia law on all of the humanity.

mEATTLE — (MCT) A bankrupt janitor from Seattle who admired Osama bin Laden and a Los Angeles man who said he was going on jihad were accused of plotting to attack a military recruiting center as vengeance for violence committed against Afghan civilians, according to a federal complaint Thursday.

"Imagine how fearful America will be, and they'll know they can't push the Muslims around," Abu Khalid Abdul-Latif, 33, told an FBI informant, according to the complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Seattle.

Abdul-Latif, of Tukwila, Wash., also goes by Joseph Anthony Davis. He is accused of plotting with Walli Mujahidh, 32, of Los Angeles, also known as Frederick Domingue Jr., to drive up to the U.S. Military Entrance Processing Station in south Seattle in a truck with a battering ram "that looks like the Titanic," open fire with machine guns and grenades, and "take out anybody wearing green or a badge."

"This is what I'm gonna do: I'm gonna post guard. I'm gonna come in, pop-pop the security guard. Run into the cafeteria, lay everybody down in there. Pop-pop-pop-pop," Mujahidh said in a conversation monitored by the FBI.

But the plot was foiled late last month after the longtime acquaintance that Abdul-Latif had contacted to help him buy weapons went to the police, who turned over the case to the FBI. From then on, the planning was captured on video and audio tape.

Abdul-Latif told the informant he had $800 to $1,200 and wanted three guns, including fully automatic machine guns, and 10 hand grenades, according to the complaint. The informant took the money and placed an order.

On Wednesday night, he took the men to a warehouse garage in Seattle, where federal agents had placed three Colt M16-A1 assault rifles that had been rendered inoperable. There, they were taken into custody.

Imam that Tipped off New York Subway Bomber Leaves America

Bad move here.  Not prosecuting the enabler for the New York Subway bomber is a huge mistake.  Merely deporting him sets a bad prescient. 

Everyone involved in any way with Islamic terrorism should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, with every charge pursued through the courts.  Plea bargains and mere deportations allows terrorists to try again and shows other terrorists that the law is a joke. 

The Islamic Jihad is without time limits, geographic limits and without mercy.  Therefore IMHO, everyone convicted of participating in terrorism in any way should be jailed for life and a day.  Anyone convicted of involvement in any way that results in any deaths should be executed, no exceptions.

Imam that Tipped off New York Subway Bomber Leaves America

A New York Imam, Ahmad Wais Afzali, has left the United States and agreed not to return as part of a plea agreement in connection with the attempted bombing of the New York City subway system that was thwarted by federal authorities last year.

Last September, federal authorities uncovered a plot to use at least a dozen small backpack bombs to devastate the subway system in New York—an attack which Attorney General Eric Holder called "one of the most serious terrorist threats to our nation since September 11, 2001." As the case unfolded, new details revealed that while U.S. authorities were investigating the attempted attack, local Imam Afzali inadvertently tipped off the prime suspect.

On September 10, detectives from the New York Police Department met with Afzali, who had served as an informant in the past. During the meeting, detectives showed Afzali photos of Zazi and others. The following day, Afzali contacted Zazi and told him that the police were asking questions about him. According to an affidavit filed in support of an arrest warrant, Afzali said:

    "I want to speak with you about something…I want a meeting with you…You probably know why I'm calling you for this meeting…I was exposed to something yesterday from the authorities. And they came to ask me about your characters. They asked me about you guys.

    I'm not sure if somebody complained about you. I'm not sure what happened. And I don't want to know…They said, 'please, we need to know who they are…what they're all about.' ... And I told them that they are innocent, law abiding…"

As a result of Afzali's actions, authorities, who had been recording Zazi's conversations, were forced to conduct hurried raids to prevent the fleeing of suspects and the destruction of evidence.

A week later, Afzali was re-interviewed by members of a Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) in New York. He lied to authorities, saying that while he spoke with Zazi's father he did not tell either Zazi or his father that the authorities had approached him or told him of the investigation. Consequently, Afzali was charged in a four count indictment with lying to federal agents.

In April, Afzali pled guilty to the charged offenses. At sentencing, he reportedly told the judge:

    "I take full responsibility for my actions…Honest to God, it was never my intention to help those idiots for what they do in the name of Islam…I'm standing in front of you as a convicted felon, a lying imam, which is a physical, emotional and spiritual burden far greater than any sentence you could impose."

While avoiding a prison sentence of 8 years, he was given 90 days to leave the country or face deportation. Pursuant to that ruling, Afzali and his wife have left the country, traveling to Saudi Arabia en route to another country where they will settle.

Good.  Excellent.  Outstanding.  Any who would practice terrorism and violence in the name of their particular brand of religion must be stopped in their tracks.

These low life Christian militia fear mongers need to be rolled up, prosecuted and sentenced to maximum time.  I'm sure we'll hear about this 27/7 in the MSM to prove that Christians are just as dangerous as Muslims.

Prosecutor: FBI agent infiltrated Christian militia, built explosives with alleged ringleader

DETROIT

An undercover federal agent infiltrated a Christian militia group that authorities say plotted to incite violent revolt, and the agent built explosives under the direction of the group's suspected ringleader, a prosecutor said Wednesday.

Arguing for the detention of alleged Hutaree leader David Brian Stone, 44, and six other members, Assistant U.S. Attorney Ronald Waterstreet said the agent accompanied Stone and others in a van as they tried to attend a Feb. 6 meeting of militias in Kentucky.

They turned back in Indianapolis because of bad weather, but the agent recorded Stone reading a speech, Waterstreet said. In the recording, played in U.S. District Court in Detroit, a speaker identified as Stone says "now it's time to strike and take our nation back so we will be free of tyranny."

Prosecutors say the group planned to make a false 911 call, kill responding police officers, then set off a bomb at the funeral to kill many more. An indictment said that after the attacks, the group planned to retreat to "rally points" protected by trip-wired explosives for a violent standoff with law enforcement personnel.

Several defense attorneys objected to Waterstreet's testimony Wednesday. "All they're saying is my client has an opinion and knows how to use his mouth," Stone's lawyer William Swor said before Waterstreet played the tape.

Later on the drive back to Michigan, Waterstreet said the van carrying the militia members passed a car on the side of the road with a Hudson, Mich. police car behind it, and Stone said "We're going to pop him — guaranteed."

Nine suspected members of Hutaree, self-proclaimed "Christian warriors" who trained themselves in paramilitary techniques in preparation for a battle against the Antichrist, were arrested after a series of raids across the Midwest.

All have been charged with seditious conspiracy, or plotting to levy war against the U.S.

Federal officials said they began monitoring the militia last summer and believed an attack was planned for April. Waterstreet said Hutaree was planning training that month where they would kill people that "came upon them." Court documents said the undercover FBI agent and a cooperating witness were part of the federal probe.

Eight suspects were arraigned Wednesday in Detroit. U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Donald A. Scheer entered not guilty pleas on behalf of seven who stood mute to the charges, including David Brian Stone. Stone's eldest son, 21-year-old Joshua Matthew Stone, was the only one who spoke up. He pleaded not guilty.

Detention hearings for six defendants followed, but the judge didn't issue a ruling. Two more are scheduled for Thursday.

The ninth suspect appeared in court in Indiana but no plea was entered.

In arguing for detention, Waterstreet told the court the suspects' conduct was at issue.

"It's not about a religious group," Waterstreet said. "It's not about the militia. It's about a group who decided to oppose by force the U.S. by using violence and weapons."

Waterstreet described the hierarchy of Hutaree, saying David Brian Stone led the militia and Joshua Matthew Stone was a squad leader. He said David Brian Stone Jr., the elder Stone's 19-year-old son, was in charge of detonations and explosives.

He said Kristopher Sickles, 27, of Sandusky, Ohio led the militia in that state and others charged in the case had responsibilities including communications and recruitment. He said Michael David Meeks, 40, and Thomas W. Piatek, 46, of Whiting, Ind. were "heavy gunners" in charge of "laying down heavy fire" in encounters with the enemy.

Meeks was one of those expected to face a detention hearing Thursday. A lawyer for Meeks said evidence would be presented that distinguishes him from the other defendants, and that he denied involvement in any plot to overthrow the government.

In Indiana, Judge Paul Cherry ordered Piatek held without bond and that he be transferred to Michigan to face weapons and conspiracy charges with the other defendants.

A federal prosecutor testified that FBI agents found 46 guns and 13,000 rounds of ammunition in Piatek's home in Whiting, Indiana.

Defense attorney Jerry Flynn said Piatek denies he planned to participate in the alleged plot.

The FBI and Homeland Security are presently investigating a series of emails sent by a Dallas-area Muslim, Javid Kamal, to Kansas legislators over the past month. Legislators in other states have also received emails.

What has investigators concerned is that the last email dated March 21st from Kamal appears to be a "final call to Islam" that under Islamic law is necessary before waging jihad against non-Muslims. Kamal explicitly states that this was his "final call":

    This is perhaps my last email to Senators, House of Representatives/Delegates/Assembly and Staff Members of United States of America unless compelled by any people.

A former FBI counter-terrorism agent who was asked to analyze Kamal's emails stated:

This is a significant danger because of the requirement in Islam to invite ("Dawah" in Islam) non-Muslims to Islam prior to an attack ("Jihad" in Islam). It is my professional opinion that this direct Dawah to the entire Kansas legislature and the emphasis that Monday's email is Javid Kamal's "final" email inviting them to Islam, is a direct threat to the Kansas legislature and others to which Kamal communicated, and is a prelude to a jihadi attack.

Oh, did I forget to mention that when the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) went to Kamal's workplace earlier this week to question him about the emails, they discovered that not only was Javid Kamal not at work, nor could he be located, but also no one, including his family, knows his whereabouts?

Using e-mail, YouTube videos, phony travel documents and a burning desire to kill "or die trying," a middle-aged American woman from Pennsylvania helped recruit a network for suicide attacks and other terrorist strikes in Europe and Asia, according to a federal grand jury indictment unsealed Tuesday.

Colleen R. LaRose, who dubbed herself "JihadJane," was so intent on waging jihad, authorities said, that she traveled to Sweden to kill an artist in a way that would frighten "the whole Kufar (nonbeliever) world."

With blond hair and green eyes, the 46-year-old woman bragged that she could go anywhere undetected, allegedly boasting in one e-mail that it was "an honour & great pleasure to die or kill for" jihad.

"Only death will stop me here that I am so close to the target!" she boasted.

The indictment doesn't say whether the Swede was killed, but LaRose was not charged with murder. Authorities refused to identify the artist or to say whether the case was related to arrests in Ireland earlier Tuesday.

Irish police said they had detained seven people in the southern counties of Waterford and Cork in connection with an alleged plot to kill Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks, who had depicted the Prophet Muhammad with the body of a dog.

In the indictment, authorities said LaRose solicited funds for terrorist organizations, helped arrange phony passports and other travel records, and used the Internet to recruit women to kill in Europe and men in Asia. LaRose was arrested Oct. 15 in Philadelphia.

Federal officials held her up as an example of how terrorists sometimes boldly operate inside the United States, fearless of the world watching them on the Internet.

"A woman from suburban America agreed to carry out murder overseas and to provide material support to terrorists," said David Kris, assistant attorney general for the Justice Department's National Security Division. That, he emphasized, "underscores the evolving nature of the threat we face."

In a confrontation with a force like al Qaeda, whom the US is fighting in two major battlefields (Afghanistan and Iraq), and as allies are battling within a couple dozen countries on five continents, the guilty plea entered by a US Jihadist who admitted links to this Terror group and detailed his war mission against the homeland. This case deserves high level analysis. Najibullah Zazi is not just an “isolated extremist” caught in September 2009 while crossing a New York bridge with plans to bomb few tunnels - end of the story. Zazi’s “Jihad” story is way more than the impressive facts the Justice Department has already revealed. If we focus more on the journey of this determined Jihadist, we would discover that one of the “genomes” of homegrown Terror. In this essay, I’ll only follow the Government’s release:

The Justice Department announced that Najibullah Zazi pleaded guilty in a “conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction in the United States,” in connection with al-Qaeda. His main attack targeted the New York subway system.

1. Location: “Zazi is a resident of Aurora, Colorado.” Urban Jihadists aren’t only found in mega-cities and their suburbs , like the Virginia Paintball cell of 2002. They are also found in medium cities, towns and small towns. They can also be found in the country side, as in the North Carolina case of 2009. It is not a “city social problem” but an ideological one.

2. Age: “Zazi is 25.” A reminder that the age group Najibullah belongs to is the teen age generation on 9/11. As in the cases of Georgia, Arkansas, and Florida, the question is about who is indoctrinating young Americans and immigrants at such an early stage.

3. National Background: “Zazi is a legal permanent resident of the US from Afghanistan.” While other Jihadists comes from a variety of countries such as Yemen, Somalia, Egypt, Pakistan, and beyond, the ethno-national parameter isn’t applicable as much as it was asserted before. It is the doctrine, not the origin that stands behind these acts of Terror.

4. Decision to wage Jihad: “Zazi admitted during the guilty plea allocution, he and others agreed to travel to Afghanistan to join the Taliban and fight against United States and allied forces (…), they were recruited by al-Qaeda after arriving in Peshawar.” This statement shows that Zazi and his companions have already made the decision, based on their previous indoctrination, to join the Taliban, then al Qaeda. Meaning an ideological machine is creating the Jihadists here in the US, before the “graduates” decide to join the ship of their choice.

5. Training and reinserting The statement said “al-Qaeda transported Zazi and others to the Waziristan region of Pakistan and trained them on several different kinds of weapons, asked them to conduct suicide operations in the US. Zazi had discussions with al-Qaeda leaders about target locations, including subway trains in New York City.”
These facts describe the path of an indoctrinated young man in America to become a weaponized Terrorist overseas. Note that during all that time that Jihadists trained by al Qaeda were still not detected in the US. The question is how many similar Zazis are there being trained and reinserted in the US?

6. Taqiya insertion “Taqiya” in modern times is the Jihadi method of deceit. The Government said: “Zazi returned to the United States in January 2009 and moved to Denver; began reviewing the bomb-making notes from his training and conducting research on where to buy the ingredients for the explosives. Zazi then traveled to New York and met with others to discuss the plan, including the timing of the attack and where to make the explosives.”

After having been indoctrinated, then connected with al Qaeda, received training, devised attack plans, came back to the US and moved to Denver; he still wasn’t detected - not as a member of al Qaeda, or at least as a Jihadi. More dramatic, he connects with other undetected Jihadists in New York and plan the last steps. How many other Jihadists have been successful in being reinserted in the US or recruited by returnees?
The last step before the act was the operational part where Zazi and the Jihadi cell were on their last preps before the strikes. Regardless of the ideology or the identification of the enemy, this is the segment where the challenge is strictly a law enforcement and counter terrorism (CT) one. How many Jihadists have already traveled the journey of indoctrination, of training, reinserting and early stages of preparing for similar operations? In these cases, our law enforcement and CT resources are meeting the Jihadists in the very last stage.

Aside from its legal aspects, the Zazi case shows that America is being penetrated by a network that is producing the Jihadists, lone wolves or cells. The latter, once ideologically self conscious are on their own and move forward to their irreversible task: connect with the mother ship and strike back at America. We are meeting them in the last stage.

The headline says it all: "devout Muslims", not radical Muslims, not fanatics, just "devout Muslims".  Devout Muslims doing what the Koran demands of every Muslim, waging Jihad to spread Islam over all of mankind.

The question now is: will these warriors for Islam be isolated from the general prison population to keep them from spreading Islam and recruiting others to wage Jihad?  See HERE for and example of prison recruitment of non-Muslim prisoners.  Prisons are one of the foremost places to convert non-Muslims to Islam and violent Jihad.

FIVE Sydney men convicted of plotting to commit violent jihad on Australian soil have been jailed for minimum terms ranging from 17 years and three months to 21 years.

But the men, all devout Muslims from Sydney’s south-west, are likely to wear their lengthy sentences as a "badge of honour," the NSW Supreme Court heard.
Justice Anthony Whealy sentenced the men today in the NSW Supreme Court sitting at Parramatta.

He said the five were driven by a belief that Islam was under attack throughout the world by the US and its allies, including Australia.

Each believed it was his religious and moral duty to come to the defence of Islam by preparing to wage violent jihad in Australia, the judge said.Embracing the mindset of, "you kill us, so you will be killed. You bomb us, so you will be bombed," they committed to a joint agreement between July 2004 and November 2005 to build explosives and stockpile firearms and ammunition to carry out their plan.

In April 2005, police swarmed the U.S. Capitol to confront an erratic Australian man, carrying two suitcases, who they feared was a suicide bomber. After blowing up one of the bags, officers realized he was harmless.
The police never noticed the two nervous young men on a nearby sidewalk filming the Capitol during the standoff. But they might have been the real threat, according to newly released documents.
The men, ultraconservative Muslims from Georgia, were making surveillance videos that could help extremists plan "some kind of terrorist attack," as one man later acknowledged, according to court documents disclosed last week. One of their videos was sent to a notorious al-Qaeda publicist in London, authorities said.
New details about the videos -- featuring such sites as the World Bank headquarters, the Pentagon, fuel tanks and the George Washington Masonic Memorial in Alexandria -- emerged in pretrial hearings in Atlanta. The pair are charged with providing support to foreign terrorists and could be sentenced to 60 years in prison if convicted. They have pleaded not guilty.
The two men were detained in 2006, before they reached "the point that they posed an imminent threat to the United States," according to a statement by U.S. Attorney David E. Nahmias in Atlanta. But the case underlines the continued appeal of Washington as a terrorist target.
Analysts said it also provides a glimpse of the growing threat posed by radical networks that have sprung up as a result of the Internet. One of the men, Syed Haris Ahmed, told authorities that they got to know extremists through Web forums and chat rooms, and they uploaded their D.C. surveillance video to "Jihadi people" online.
For a terrorist organization, "it doesn't matter anymore where your location is, and how many visa requirements" a country has, said Rita Katz, director of the SITE Intelligence Group, which researches Muslim extremists and their online activity. "Being on the virtual network, [terrorists] have people virtually all over the world."

Another case of "Enemy Within". This article outlines the activities of a young man who uses the internet to spread Jihadi propaganda. The Article calls him an American, but also says "Born in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, Khan was 7 when his family moved to New York City and settled into Queens." There is no mention that he ever became a citizen. Perhaps deportation is in order.

When Osama bin Laden issued his videotaped message to the American people last month, a young jihad enthusiast went online to help spread the word.
"America needs to listen to Shaykh Usaamah very carefully and take his message with great seriousness," he wrote on his blog, referring to bin Laden by an alternative spelling. "America is known to be a people of arrogance."
Unlike bin Laden, the blogger was not operating from a remote location. It turns out he is a 21-year-old American named Samir Khan who produces his blog from his parents' home in North Carolina, where he serves as a kind of Western relay station for the multimedia productions of violent Islamic groups.
