Almost 2,000 Dutch troops have been deployed in the Uruzgan region, where the Taliban is active and opium production is high.

The final contingent of 250 Dutch soldiers will be withdrawn on Sunday, after strong domestic opposition to participation in the Nato-led International Security Assistance Force.

Qari Yusuf Ahmadii, a Taliban spokesman, told the Volksrant newspaper that he looked forward to other countries following the "brave" Dutch example.

"We would like to offer the citizens and government of the Netherlands our heartfelt congratulations for having the courage to take this decision independently," he said.

"We hope other countries with soldiers stationed in Afghanistan will follow the Dutch example and withdraw their troops."

The government collapsed in February after Labour, a coalition member, refused to support a Nato request to extend the Dutch presence until August 2011.

"Labour has made one of the most important decisions for the Dutch government and citizens," said the Taliban spokesman.

Twenty-four Dutch soldiers were killed and 140 injured over the last four years. American and Australian troops will take over the Dutch military role on August 1.

General Peter van Uhm, the commander in chief of the Dutch military, praised his troops for "tangible results that the Netherlands can be proud of".

But rank-and-file soldiers are angry over the retreat, according to Jan Kleian, president of the Dutch military trade union.

"They are not happy to leave. They want to finish what they started. The mission is not completed," he said.

THE ENEMY WITHIN: PAT CONDELL

Banned by the Government = Business as usual:

More unopposed hate speech and calls for violence and the overthrow of the British people by Muslims.  The video is stamped with eh flag of The Islamic State of Iraq, (above) a violent umbrella terrorist group sponsored by Iran.

When will Britain defend itself against the influx of violent, fanatical Muslims bent on the destruction of the British people?

Banned by the Government = Business as usual:

It appears that ‘Muslims Against Crusades’, Anjem Choudary’s terror-supporting band of beards (reconstituted from the banned Al-Muhajiroun); are once again spewing their hatred onto the streets of London.

The video, styled to resemble the Jihadist ‘war-porn’ propaganda videos of executions and bombings against westerners in Afghanistan and Iraq, shows the group – known for their distasteful protests at British soliders’ homecoming parades – outside the British Prime Minster’s residence in Downing Street protesting against British and US foreign policy, using the recent Wikileaks revelations about the fight against terrorism in Afghanistan as cover. But they don’t stop there.

The chants contain clear incitements and threats: “UK, Watch your back – Salahudeen is Coming back”, (referring the the so-called ‘liberator of al-Quds [Jerusalem], Salahudeen Ayyubi), and implying violent reprisals. They further warn of ‘new 7/7s, new 9/11s” if the infidels do not immediately withdraw from Afghanistan and Iraq.

They also make the usual call for Sharia Law in the UK.

But it’s what they don’t realise they are doing that’s far more interesting – and ultimately, cause for optimism. Their thuggish intolerance, ranting and calls for the barbaric, violent doctrine of Sharia to be implemented in the UK only serves to highlight the vast superiority of the free world’s own systems of democracy, liberty, equality and free speech – which allow them to behave like this the first place.

(the video might also provide some useful intelligence to the Department for Work and Pensions as to the availability for work of our ‘devout’ friends – a good number of whom will inevitably be claiming state benefits)

Keep on ranting, chaps.

Iran must end harassment of stoning case lawyer

This is an account of what has happened to Mohammad Mostafaei, the lawyer who dared to defend Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, a woman convicted of adultery in a Iranian court.  This brave man is now in hiding in fear of his life from the Iranian authorities.  His wife and brother have been arrested to force him to surrender himself.

Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani is on death row waiting to the sentence of stoning for the alleged crime of adultery. Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani's story is HERE.

Both cases illustrate how the barbaric and inhumane Islamic regime in Iran operates.  There is no room in the world for such a regime.  Every aspect of Iranian Islam is an affront to humanity.

FROM AMNISTY.ORG:

Iran must end harassment of stoning case lawyer

Mostafaei is defending Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, who was sentenced to stoning

28 July 2010

Amnesty International has urged the Iranian authorities to stop harassing human rights lawyers amid continuing uncertainty over the whereabouts of the defence counsel in a recent controversial stoning case and the arrest of two of his relatives.

Mohammad Mostafaei’s whereabouts have been unknown since shortly after he was released from questioning by judicial officials last Saturday.

Late that evening, the Iranian authorities detained his wife and brother-in-law, prompting fears that they are being held to put pressure on Mohammed Mostafaei to turn himself in to the authorities, if he is not already being detained.

The acclaimed lawyer is defending Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, whose case became the subject of an international outcry when it was reported that she was soon to be executed by stoning.

He has also defended many juvenile offenders, political prisoners and others sentenced to stoning. Mostafaei has been a vocal critic of the administration of justice in Iran.

"Mohammad Mostafaei is a thorn in the side of the Iranian authorities and we fear that he is being persecuted in an attempt to stop him carrying out his professional activities as a defence lawyer and in support of human rights," said Malcolm Smart, Amnesty International's Middle East and North Africa director.

Mostafaei was summoned for questioning by judicial officials at Tehran's Evin prison on Saturday but released after several hours. However he later received a telephone call summoning him back to the prison. It is not known whether he complied with this summons or not.

Mohammad Mostafaei’s wife, Fereshteh Halimi, and her brother, Farhad Halimi, were arrested on Saturday evening. They remain held and have been denied access to their lawyer.

Following his interrogation on Saturday, Mostafaei wrote on his blog that he was questioned mainly about his defence of juvenile offenders. He also wrote on his Facebook account: “It is possible they will arrest me".

"The Iranian authorities appear intent on silencing anyone who speaks out against stoning or other issues where Iran’s international human rights obligations are clearly being violated," said Malcolm Smart.

"Mohammad Mostafaei should be allowed to get on with his job as a lawyer rather than face arrest himself for trying to defend victims of human rights abuses.

"If Fereshteh and Farhad Halimi are held solely because they are related to Mohammad Mostafaei, or in order to place pressure on him, they are prisoners of conscience and must be immediately released."

Fereshteh Halimi and Mohammad Mostafaei have a young daughter who is said to be in the care of her maternal grandmother.

There is a longstanding pattern of harassment and imprisonment of human rights lawyers in Iran. In 2002, Nasser Zarafshan was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment, partly on trumped-up charges of possessing a firearm and alcohol offences.

Abdolfattah Soltani was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment in 2005 for disclosing public documents and “propaganda against the system”. The sentence was overturned on appeal on 2007 but he was arrested again in 2009 and held for two months before being released on bail.

Other lawyers currently held for their human rights work include Mohammad Olyaeifard, who is serving a one-year prison sentence imposed for comments he made criticizing the judiciary after the execution of one of his clients, juvenile offender Behnoud Shojaee.

Other Iranian human rights lawyers such as Nobel Prize winner Shirin Ebadi and Shadi Sadr, recipient of various international human rights awards, now work outside of Iran, fearing to return.

Mohammad Mostafaei was briefly detained following the disputed 2009 presidential election before being released on bail.

Female Genital Mutilation in the UK

‘My girl was abducted’

Grooming of young girls by Muslims for sex and conversion to Islam has come to Britain, and I suspect the rest of the Western world.  Grooming, kidnapping, raping and then forcing conversion of Christian and Hindi girls to Islam is common in India, Pakistan Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

While this article rightly reports on the grooming of very young girls for sex, it glosses over the forced conversion to Islam, probably to avoid charges of "racism" against Muslims.  But the thing is, that Muslims are the only group to systematically rape girls and force religious conversions.

Until Western governments address the Islamic invasion, this sort of thing will grow as Muslims make deeper inroads into society and more girls will be at risk.

‘My girl was abducted’

Published on Mon Jul 26 09:14:32 BST 2010

A mum has today relived the horror of discovering that her teenage daughter and her friend had been abducted by two men.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, spoke out after the men were convicted of abducting the teens.

The 15-year-old’s mum, from
Deepdale, said: “It just did not seem a reality.”

The 35-year-old spoke after Faisal Ghani and Mohammed Moosa, admitted taking the children without consent. Moosa also admitted sexual activity with a girl under 16 in a hearing at Preston Crown Court.

Ghani, 24, of Albert Terrace, Deepdale and Moosa, 24, Holmrook Road, Deepdale, groomed the girls, aged 15 and 13, over several months in 2009 before abducting them and taking them to a hotel.

The mum of three said: “My daughter has had to make a fresh start, she has reverted to Islam and changed her name since this happened. You are seen as pure, it has been a good thing.”

The girls, from the same street, met the pair when they pulled up in a car and started talking to them. They went for car journeys with them and, as the web of exploitation developed, were taken to a “chill pad” in Ribbleton – a flat rented out but not lived in, used by different men to take girls back to.

Israel Identifies The Perfect Terrorist

Here's an interesting analysis of what makes an Islamic terrorist.  It's something Western intelligence analysists and policy makers should read and heed.

FROM STRATEGYPAGE.COM:

Israel Identifies The Perfect Terrorist

July 26, 2010: Israel and the United States have collected a lot of information on how Islamic terrorists operate. A lot of this data will remain secret for some time, but new tidbits are made public from time to time. The latest revelation is actually confirmation of many older bits of information. That is, the suicide bombers themselves are usually persuaded, not forced, to carry out their missions.

Israel, for example, has captured at least fifteen suicide bombers who did not (could not or would not) carry out their mission. These terrorists were extensively questioned, as were family and friends. The Israelis also collected similar data on dead suicide bombers, including email or tapped phone calls and other material the bomber left behind. The Israelis, like the suicide bomb organizations, came to the same conclusion; that certain personality traits make someone very willing to carry out these attacks. And the chief characteristic is usually not fanaticism, but deference to authority and public opinion. This is one reason why the  Palestinian media campaign to glamorize suicide bombers is so dangerous. Over a decade of this propaganda provides a large supply of potential suicide bombers, and even assists them in contacting terrorist groups to sign up. For terrorists unable to find these impressionable volunteers (who are easy to train and control), there is another pool of recruits. These are the deranged and impulsive. This is why you will occasionally hear about dead suicide bombers who were mental patients, or widows of terrorists. The widows are told, quite accurately, that they faced a dim future and that becoming a martyr for the cause was a good move. In these cases, the cash paid (by terrorist organizations) to the families of suicide bombers helped with the recruiting.

Terrorists consider suicide bombing a very effective weapon. But to make it work they need volunteers who are reliable and able to learn the techniques of getting to the target undetected, and then actually setting off the bomb. You don't hear much about it, but many (in some situations, over a third of) suicide bombers refuse to go through with it. Thus the many "handlers" that work closely with the suicide bomber, until the final moment. If a suicide bombing campaigns goes on for a while, only killing Moslem civilians, there will be a shortage of competent volunteers. All those dead Moslem civilians gives the attacks a bad reputation. That means fewer successful suicide bombing missions, and more captured (or surrendered) bombers, which results in more suicide bombing cells (and their hard to replace management and technical personnel) are destroyed.

Israeli police have long known how the terrorist groups recruit, equip and deliver bombers. This information was obtained from Palestinian publications, captured documents and interrogations of Palestinian militants. Eventually, the Israelis found several weaknesses in the suicide bomber system. The first one discovered was transportation. Most of the suicide bomber volunteers lived in the West Bank, and had to be transported to areas with a large Israeli population. As the Israelis discovered, most of the cost of each suicide bombing went to paying a driver or guide to get the suicide bomber close to a target area. Using a system of checkpoints and profiling, the Israelis began to catch most of the suicide bombers.

But some still got through. So the Israelis went back to a 1990s technique that, while it worked, was widely criticized as unfair and inhumane. Namely, the family home of the suicide bomber was destroyed. The bomber usually came from a family that housed several generations in one house (which was often the family's major asset. Before resuming this practice, the family actually profited from the bombing, receiving up to $30,000 for their son (or daughter's) sacrifice. Soon after the house destruction policy went into effect, there were reports of family's forcibly restraining adult children from joining the suicide bombing effort (or reporting the kid to the Israelis, who would then arrest the bomber volunteer.) While that dried up the source of the more competent bombers, it did not eliminate all the bombings. So Israel cut the West Bank off from Israel. Thus for the last five years, there have been hardly any attacks. Because the Palestinians continue their suicide bomber recruitment program (especially on children's television shows), the Israelis don't plan on reopening their borders to the Palestinians any time soon.

The Gaza Strip Mall

Guess we know where the bilions of dollars in aid money to the Gazans has gone.

The Gaza Strip Mall

Posted By Jacob Shrybman

As the world continues to chastize Israel for allegedly causing material deprivation in the Gaza Strip, the residents of Gaza have just witnessed the grand opening of a new luxury shopping mall. The gigantic, futuristic complex is aptly called the “Strip Mall,” and in it, Gazans can peruse the finer amenities of the modern world in an atmosphere of comfort and security.

The day following the mall’s opening, the EU’s Senior Representative for Foreign Affairs, Catherine Ashton, called on Israel to lift its “blockade” of the Gaza Strip.  Ashton’s call was no great surprise — coming from a person who, on her last visit to the region this past March, was in such a hurry to get to Gaza that she didn’t care to comment on Manee Singmueangphon, a Thai worker who was was murdered [1] by a Gaza qassam rocket in nearby Netiv Ha’asara that very same day.

The Muslim 'right' to keep the burkha is wearing thin

A short article that puts the wearing of the burka in Western societies into perspective.

FROM DAILYEXPRESS.CO.UK:
The Muslim 'right' to keep the burkha is wearing thin

Sunday July 25,2010
By Julia Hartley-Brewer

IT CAME as news to me to learn last week that one of the key rights British women have is the right to choose what they wear every morning.

I have never thought that fashion was a fundamental human right but this means that the rest of us, two-thirds of the British people according to the latest poll, have no right to tell Muslim women whether they can or can’t cover their faces with a burkha or niqab.

Which is strange, given that the rest of us are constantly being told what we can and cannot wear with no apparent affront to our civil liberties. Women are told not to go topless on the beach. Men are told they must wear a shirt to be served in pubs and are barred from smart restaurants if they’re not wearing a jacket and tie.

Teens in hooded tops are refused entry to shopping centres, while trainers won’t get you into many nightclubs, football shirts are banned in some pubs on match days and I doubt very much whether any of us would get served in a shop or restaurant if we were wearing a balaclava.

So why the great outcry from our mealy-mouthed politicians over the demand for a ban on women wearing the burkha in such public places as airports, trains and buses, classrooms, hospitals, council buildings and courtrooms?

I have long thought the burkha to be a deeply disturbing garment yet shied away from calling for a total ban because it feels, as the Immigration Minister Damian Green argued, decidedly “un-British” to tell people what to wear. If we really are the liberal, tolerant, multicultural society we claim to be, doesn’t an acceptance of the burkha mean we must also, out of respect for Muslim culture, tolerate other aspects of Islam that thousands of Muslims living in Britain believe to be key to their religious beliefs?

What about allowing men to have more than one wife or supporting forced marriages? Why do we not back female circumcision, honour killings, the imposition of Sharia law or even stoning women to death for adultery? Aren’t these things just as much a part of “Muslim culture”, for the people who believe in them, as a woman wearing a veil?

We are also told that the burkha is a religious symbol and therefore afforded greater protection than other forms of dress. Most Muslim women don’t cover their faces. The burkha is an import from 7th-century Arabia and has no basis in the Koran. It is no more a religious symbol than the string bikini. Indeed, the burkha is not a religious statement at all. It is a political statement that speaks not of modesty or piety but of a hatred of Western values, of equality, of freedom and of religious tolerance.

The burkha doesn’t empower women. It doesn’t empower anyone except the extremist mullahs. The real issue is not the right to wear the burkha but the right of British Muslim women not to wear a garment that dehumanises and degrades women by rendering them faceless, voiceless and powerless.

A ban on the burkha isn’t about being anti-Muslim, it’s about being pro-Britain and pro-British values. The right to cover your face in public is not a fundamental human right. The right to equality is.

Epidemic of Acid-Attack on Women in Pakistan

What you see here is what happens in some parts of the Islamic world. These stories are all from Pakistan, but happen as frequently in Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Some make the argument that these crimes against humanity are only "traditional" or "tribal" or societal. Whatever the origins, they happen only in Muslim countries.

Where is the global Islamic outrage against these barbaric crimes against women and in some cases men? Where is the United Nations condemnation of throwing acid onto human beings? What are the governments of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh doing to stop these horrors?

What is the United States and the rest of Western society doing?

FROM ISLAM-WATCH.ORG:

Epidemic of Acid-Attack on Women in Pakistan

Tuesday, 20 July 2010 04:13
Dr. Radhasyam Brahmachari

A sample of horror stories of acid-attacks on women in Pakistan...

It has been mentioned in the previous article, Islamic Barbarism: Disfiguring Women by Acid Attack, Part 2, that Pakistan tops the list of incidence of acid attacks on women with nearly 150 incidents of nationally every year of which about 50 occur in Balochistan. A report, entitled “Acid Terrorism Against Women in Pakistan”, dated December 12, 2009, presents some incidents of this horrific crime.

A statement, titled PAKISTAN: Acid attacks continue to be a serious concern, by the Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) contains a few incidents of acid attacks with images of the victims in Pakistan (presented below). Behind each one of these pictures lies a painful tale. These are pictures of once lovely women. These faces are no longer and will never be the same again.

In a heart-rending description “My Scars Tell My Story
of the victims of acid terrorism, Talath Naqvi writes:

If on the one hand we get shocked at the criminal violence that exists around us, then on the other hand organisations like DSF (Depilex Smile Again) also give us some hope that benevolence exists in a society where such criminals breed. I cannot fail to be shocked at the capacity some people have for violence. It stuns me that there is perfect planning involved in setting about the stage and this is conceived, only to be followed by the enactment of the sinful deed.

Naqvi continues:

How does one go about buying the necessary equipment prior to carrying out a heinous act? Is it like ordinary folks going out to buy groceries? And in all this time, it is alarming that their conscience doesn't kick in to make them take a step back and comprehend what they are doing.

Recently, I came across 'faces' who gave meaning to the words "a picture is worth a thousand words"... The pictures were heart-rending. What could possibly have led to such horrifying deeds? I could not help but try and trace, at least a part of the story that lay behind the images. Behind each one of these pictures lies a painful tale. These are pictures of once lovely women. These faces are no longer and will never be complete and whole again.

Story of Irum Saeed

Irum Saeed, PakistanIrum Saeed, 30, is a resident of Rawalpindi. She recalls how 12 years ago, when she was only 17, a boy, whose marriage proposal she had rejected, followed her to her college. The street he chose for the scene of crime was narrow, and Irum was unable to escape his hot pursuit of her. The rejected boy proceeded to throw a jug full of acid on her. As she turned to avoid this, he threw the remaining acid onto her back and shoulders, badly burning them. The photograph was taken at her office at the Urdu University of Islamabad, Pakistan, on Thursday, July 24, 2008. She has undergone plastic surgery 25 times to try to recover from her scars.

Story of Shameem Akhter

Shameem Akhter, PakistanShameem Akhter's face was mutilated with acid when she was only 17. Now aged 20, she is still unable to comprehend how she fell victim to criminals, who kidnapped and raped her for revenge. Shameem has undergone plastic surgery 10 times to try to repair from her scars.

Story of Najaf Sultana

Najaf Sultana, PakistanNajaf Sultana, now 16, of Lahore, was burned by her father at the age of five while she was sleeping, apparently because he didn't want to have another girl in the family. The case of Naila Farhat was brought to the Supreme Court of Pakistan in November 2008 and received great publicity. The perpetrator was sentenced to 12 years in prison and ordered to pay Rupees1.2 million in damages. This represented a landmark decisions in dealing with gender violence, but the judgment could hardly stem the menace of acid-throwing. This was also somewhat exceptional case in the landscape of acid attacks in Pakistan. In most cases, measures, if at all taken, are still disproportionately low as compared to the sufferings inflicted by the attacks.

Story of Saira Liaqat

Saira-liaqat-acid-attack-victimSaira Liaqat, 26, of Lahore was 15, when she was married to a relative. The families had agreed she would join him only after finishing school. But then he demanded her to live with him after the marriage and eventually attacked her with acid when his demand was not met. Saira has undergone plastic surgery 9 times.

Story of Zubaida Khatoon

Zubaida-Khatoon-acid-attack-victimZubaida Khatoon was burnt by her husband to resolve an argument. Her husband had made it a hobby of frequently marrying women from families to lower economic groups. When she discovered this, Zubaida protested his actions. He tried to settle the argument by setting her on fire after pouring kerosene on her. Raising an objection to his lechery was all needed for her to bear these scars.

Story of Nasreen Sharif

Nasreen-Sharif-acid-attack-victimNasreen Sharif, 23, was once a beautiful girl. When she turned 14, her cousin poured a bottle of sulphuric acid on her face as she slept. His excuse was that he couldn't stand other boys whistling at her (because of he beauty) when she crossed the street. She no longer bears any resemblance to that youthful beauty. "My skin melted and my hair burned away. I am now blind, I have no ears and I have no sense of smell", says Nasreen.

Story of Parveen Akhtar

Parveen-Akhtar-acid-attack-victimParveen Akhtar, 38, from Jehlum found her life changed when her husband asked her for her written permission to allow him to remarry. Her refusal to it angered him and he tried to murder her by dousing her body with kerosene and setting it alight. He portrayed the incident as an accident and told people that he wanted to remarry because she cannot bear children.

Story of Bashiran Bibi

Bashiran-Bibi-acid-attack-victimNearly 25 years ago, newly-married Bashiran Bibi (now 57), a resident of Sukheki, Pakistan, was pushed by her mother-in-law into a coal stove. The family proclaimed it to be an accident. Her husband blamed it on a fit of epilepsy that she suffers from. Resolved to her fate, Bashiran continues to live with her husband and in-laws and gave birth to 5 children after this "accident". Whatever money is donated to Bashiran's cause, her husband uses it for himself and doesn't spend any on her treatment.

Story of Mumtaz Bibi

Mumtaz-Bibi-acid-attack-victimMumtaz Bibi, 39, from Khairpur, Pakistan, came under her husband's wrath while trying to protect her daughters. Her offence was that she refused to let him selling off her girls, shielding them with her life. Because of her lack of compliance, her husband poured acid all over her body, then proceeded to divorce her.

Story of Tasneem Shahzad

24-year-old Tasneem Shahzad's story is repeated all too often. A girl, too poor to bring much demanded dowry, she bore the wrath of greedy in-laws. Tasneem's ex-husband was an addict. It was left to her to support her own household as well as that of her extended family. Tasneem worked in several homes to support all those who depended on her. However, that was not pleasing enough for her greedy in-laws. One day, her clothes were set on fire by her rapacious in-laws and she suffered severe burns. They then proceeded to try and prove that the incident was an accident.

Slaves in impoverished Yemen dream of freedom

A Yemeni family brought into enslavement decades ago fights the stigma of their status as 'slaves' in impoverished Yemen (AFP)

Slavery may be officially over but in Yemen, the practice is alive and well.

FROM ALARABIA.NET:
Slaves in impoverished Yemen dream of freedom

Descendants of an ancient empire

SANAA (AFP)

Officially, slavery was abolished back in 1962 but a judge's decision to pass on the title deed of a "slave" from one master to another has blown the lid off the hidden bondage of hundreds of Yemenis.

The judge in the town of Hajja, which is home to some 300 slaves, according to residents, said he had certified the transfer only because the new owner planned to free the slave.

But his decision has triggered a campaign by local human right activists.

" Sometimes I wonder what the fate of my children will be, having a slave father and an emancipated mother "
Mubarak

A 2009 report by the human rights ministry found that males and females were still enslaved in the provinces of Hudaydah and Hajja, in northwest Yemen -- the Arab world's most impoverished country.

Mubarak, who has seven brothers and sisters, has never set foot outside the village where he was born into a family which was inherited as slaves by their local master.

Sheikh Mohammed Badawi's father had bought Mubarak's parents 50 years ago, shortly before Yemen's 1962 revolution which abolished slavery. Mubarak has known no other life except that of a slave.

"Whenever I think of freedom, I ask myself, 'Where will I go?'" he told AFP as he stood outside a hut which serves as home for him and his family.

Black-skinned Mubarak does not know his birthday but he knows he has been a slave from birth 21 years ago. He has two children with a wife who was also a slave until she was emancipated by her master, a few years before they married.

"Sometimes I wonder what the fate of my children will be, having a slave father and an emancipated mother," he said.

Mubarak and his family are just one case among many.

"We are still in the process of trying to count the numbers of slaves," the coordinator of rights group Hood, Mohammed Naji Allaw, told AFP, explaining that slaves were "owned by title deeds, or inherited within families."

The news website almasdaronline earlier spoke of "500 slaves" across Yemen.

In addition to "slaves whose owner can use them however he wants," the ministry report also refers to other groups subjected to slave-like conditions, although they are not bound by documents.

Woman freed after spending 14 years in prison without trial for "blasphemy"

Another travisty of justice in Pakistan.  This is the bunch we are lavishing billions of dollars on and what we get is the same old Islamic inspired pack of 7th century throwbacks refusing to repudiate Sharia law.

FROM ASIANEWS.IT:

Woman freed after spending 14 years in prison without trial for "blasphemy"

Zaibul Nisa had been arrested on vague blasphemy charges. The judge who released her is dismayed by her long and unjust confinement. Her lawyer complains that she “was sent to jail and then forgotten by everyone.”

Lahore (AsiaNews/Agencies) – The High Court in Lahore has ordered the release Zaibul Nisa, a 60-year-old woman who spent the past 14 years in the prison section of a mental asylum for blasphemy, on allegations of desecrating the Qur‘an. Back in 1996, police arrested her and then locked her up without a shred of evidence.

Expressing his “dismay” over her long and unjust confinement, the chief justice of the Lahore High Court, Khawaja Mohammad Sharif, "ordered the release of Zaibul Nisa after no evidence was found against her," a court official said.

Nisa was arrested in the town of Rawat, near the capital Islamabad, after a local resident filed a complaint at a police station that someone had desecrated the Koran, defence lawyer Aftab Ahmad Bajwa said.

Nisa's name was not even mentioned in the police complaint, Bajwa explained, and “Nobody, not even her relatives, pursued the case. She was sent to jail and then forgotten by everyone”.

Police arrested her on the basis of the infamous blasphemy law, namely article 295, sections B and C, of the Pakistan Penal Code, which respectively impose life in prison on anyone defiling the Qur‘an and the death penalty on anyone defaming Prophet Mohammed.

However, very often blasphemy charges are falsely laid or motivated by sordid reasons, generating scandals and stirring angry people to seek mob justice.

For example, two Christian brothers (one a Protestant clergyman) accused of writing a blasphemous pamphlet critical of the Prophet Mohammed were shot dead last Monday outside a court that was going to acquit them.

Iran cuts off hands from five thieves

Well there ya go.  Who says Islam can't change.  Iran now requires a thief to have been convicted of over 100 thefts before lopping off a hand.  Used to be, just one theft could get you separated from your hand,  (Still can in Saudi Arabia)

Iran cuts off hands from five thieves

Last Updated: July 22, 2010 9:01am

TEHRAN - Iran amputated the hands of five convicted thieves inside a prison in the western city of Hamedan on Thursday, the semi-official ILNA news agency said.

“The average age of the five thieves on whom the hand amputation verdict was carried out was over 25 and they had committed major thefts,” the agency quoted local judiciary official Akbar Biglari as saying.

Biglari said the amputation verdict is not automatic for all those who commit a theft and some 14 criteria should be met before the punishment is carried out.

“When a hand gets used to robbery and causes harm to people it must be shortened,” Biglari said.

He said the amputation verdict is usually performed on a thief who has committed more than 100 instances of theft. It serves as a deterrent to others, he said.

Under Iran’s Islamic sharia law, theft can be punished by amputation.

Monster intelligence machine still won't protect us from the real threat

As always, Diana West gets to the heart of the matter.  In this case, despite billions of dollars and thousands of new employees, the US intelligence agencies miss the mark.
"The reason is this: In all of these scores and hundreds and thousands of organizations created and boosted and buffed up since 9/11 there is one thing they all forgot."

"Islam."

Monster intelligence machine still won't protect us from the real threat

By Diana West

A clarifying bomblet drops in the final paragraph of the opening installment of the big Washington Post series on what is best described as National Intelligence Sprawl:

"Soon, on the grounds of the former St. Elizabeth's mental hospital in Anacostia, a $3.4 billion showcase of security will rise from the crumbling brick wards. The new headquarters will be the largest government complex built since the Pentagon …"

National security meets mental hospital: How tragically appropriate. And yes, these inmates will definitely be running the asylum -- some of the Post-estimated 854,000 Americans with top secret clearance now filling massive new government complexes all over the country -- another unwanted legacy of 9/11.

Some of my conservative brethren worry that the Post series reveals national security secrets. The question is, with nearly a million people possessing top secret clearance, how many secrets are left to reveal? Is it possible that our national security apparatus has gotten too big not to fail?

Sharia Law for Non-Muslims

A look at the inside workings of Islam.

FROM POLITICALISLAM.COM:

Sharia Law for Non-Muslims
Chapter 5—The Kafir

Until now we have looked at the big picture of Sharia and then the position of women in Sharia. We now come to a new subject--the unbeliever or non-Muslim. The word "non-Muslim" is used in the translation of Sharia law, but the actual Arabic word used is "Kafir". But the word Kafir means far more than non-Muslim. The original meaning of the word was "concealer", one who conceals the truth of Islam.

The Koran says that the Kafir may be deceived, plotted against, hated, enslaved, mocked, tortured and worse. The word is usually translated as "unbeliever" but this translation is wrong. The word "unbeliever" is logically and emotionally neutral, whereas, Kafir is the most abusive, prejudiced and hateful word in any language.

There are many religious names for Kafirs: polytheists, idolaters, People of the Book (Christians and Jews), Buddhists, atheists, agnostics, and pagans. Kafir covers them all, because no matter what the religious name is, they can all be treated the same. What Mohammed said and did to polytheists can be done to any other category of Kafir.

Islam devotes a great amount of energy to the Kafir. The majority (64%) of the Koran is devoted to the Kafir, and nearly all of the Sira (81%) deals with Mohammed's struggle with them. The Hadith (Traditions) devotes 32% of the text to Kafirs1. Overall, the Trilogy devotes 60% of its content to the Kafir.

Hadith     37%
Sira         81%
Koran      64%
Total       60%

Amount of Text Devoted to the Kafir

The Sharia does not devote nearly that much to the Kafir since Sharia law is primarily for Muslims. Besides, the Kafir has few rights, so there is little to expound on.

Religious Islam is what Muslims do to go to Paradise and avoid Hell. What Mohammed did to Kafirs was not religious, but political. Political Islam is what is of concern to Kafirs, not the religion. Who cares how a Muslim worships, but every one of us is concerned as to what they do to us and say about us. Political Islam should be of concern to every Kafir.

Bekasi, insults and threats from Islamic extremists at a Protestant prayer meeting

Another case study of Islamic religious tolerance in moderate and progressive Indonesia.

FROM ASIANEWS.IT:

Bekasi, insults and threats from Islamic extremists at a Protestant prayer meeting

by Mathias Hariyadi

More than 500 blocked the entrance to the field where the function was being held. The Huria Protestant Church celebrates in the open because their prayer hall was declared illegal. Thanks to the police, there were no consequences for the faithful.

Jakarta (AsiaNews) - A group of 500 Islamic extremists blocked Christians from the Huria Protestant Church (Hkbp) in a field where the Sunday service was taking place. The incident occurred last July 18 in the city of Pondok Timur in Mustika Jaya subdistrict, district of Bekasi (West Java).

Muslims blocked all routes to prevent Christians leaving the field and began to insult them, terrorizing them. The group of Protestant believers pray outdoors because their hall for religious functions was closed on the grounds that it was illegal.

The situation improved when a representative of the Bekasi Office for Religious Affairs, along with 200 policemen, arrived at the site.  Luspida Simanjutak, head pastor at the Hkbp church, told AsiaNews: " We were forced to sign a pact with them, forcing us to stop our faith celebration but we strongly rejected the proposal. We asked the representative to help our congregation to leave the site without harm. Their goal is one and one alone, to eradicate all churches from Mustika Jaya”.

It is not the first time that the Hkbp church was targeted by Islamic extremists. "At Pondok Timur - continued the pastor - the Muslims have forced local government to outlaw the place where we held our services. They've already done so twice”.

That's why different Hkbp communities decided to hold their services in an open field. Theopilus Bella an activist for interfaith dialogue, believes the incident last Sunday was premeditated. "Many of the faithful – he tells AsiaNews - received text messages from Islamic extremists which warned them of what they would do” and what in fact happened.

Despite threats by Islamic Rev. Simanjutak says that her community will continue to recite the Mass in the same place.

For years the Christians of Bekasi have been targeted by Islamic fundamentalists. Early in 2010, radical groups blocked religious services, prevented Christians from access to existing churches and stopped the construction of new churches. Since 2009, more than 17 churches have been affected by Islamic extremists. The Hkbp church, besides having to close its premises many times because deemed "illegal" in 2010, suffered the destruction of a church in 2004, after receiving permission to construct it.

Palestinians in the Arab World: Why the Silence?

This article raises some very good points, namely, why had the Arab world treated the Palestinians like lepers?  Where is the vaunted Muslim hospitality and charity for their fellow Muslims?

Palestinians in the Arab World: Why the Silence?

When was the last time the United Nations Security Council met to condemn an Arab government for its mistreatment of Palestinians?

How come groups and individuals on university campuses in the US and Canada that call themselves "pro-Palestinian" remain silent when Jordan revokes the citizenship of thousands of Palestinians?

The plight of Palestinians living in Arab countries in general, and Lebanon in particular, is one that is often ignored by the mainstream media in West.

How come they turn a blind eye to the fact that Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and many more Arab countries continue to impose severe travel restrictions on Palestinians?

Muslims Debate asked Mr. Geert Wilders why he became anti-Islam and what is his message to the Muslims?

Here's another outstanding speech by Geert Wilders.  He is the man of the century in the fight against the Islamist tidal wave that is smashing through the Western world.

FROM MUSLIMDEBATE.COM:

Muslims Debate asked Mr. Geert Wilders why he became anti-Islam and what is his message to the Muslims?
Geert Wilders :

I first visited an Islamic country in 1982.

I was 18 years old and had traveled with a Dutch friend from Eilat in Israel to the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm-el-Sheikh.

We were two almost penniless backpacking students.

We slept on the beaches and found hospitality with Egyptians, who spontaneously invited us to tea.

I clearly recall my very first impression of Egypt: I was overwhelmed by the kindness, friendliness and helpfulness of its people.

I also remember my second strong impression of Egypt: It struck me how frightened these friendly and kind people were.

While we were in Sharm el-Sheikh, President Mubarak happened to visit the place.

I remember the fear which suddenly engulfed the town when it was announced that Mubarak was coming on an unexpected visit; I can still see the cavalcade of black cars on the day of his visit and feel the almost physical awareness of fear, like a cold chill on that very hot day in Summer.

It was a weird experience; Mubarak is not considered the worst of the Islamic tyrants and yet, the fear of the ordinary Egyptians for their leader could be felt even by me. I wonder how Saudis feel when their King is in town, how Libyans feel when Gaddafi announces his coming, how Iraqis must have felt when Saddam Hussein was near. A few years later, I read in the Koran how the 7th century Arabs felt in the presence of Muhammad, who, as several verses describe, “cast terror into their hearts” (suras 8:12, 8:60, 33:26, 59:12).

From Sharm el-Sheikh, my friend and I went to Cairo. It was poor and incredibly dirty. My friend and I were amazed that such a poor and filthy place could be a neighbor of Israel, which was so clean. The explanation of the Arabs, with whom we discussed their poverty, was that they were not in any way to blame for this affliction: They said they were the victims of a global conspiracy of “imperialists” and “Zionists”, aimed at keeping Muslims poor and subservient. I found that explanation unconvincing. My instinct told me it had something to do with the different cultures of Israel and Egypt.

I made a mistake in Cairo. We had almost no money and I was thirsty. One could buy a glass of water at public water collectors. It did not look clean, but I drank it. I got a terrible diarrhea. I went to a hostel where one could rent a spot on the floor for two dollars a day. There I lay for several days, a heap of misery in a crowded, stinking room, with ten other guys. Once Egypt had been the most advanced civilization on earth. Why had it not progressed along with the rest of the world?

In the late 1890s, Winston Churchill was a soldier and a war correspondent in British India (contemporary Pakistan) and the Sudan. Churchill was a perceptive young man, whose months in Pakistan and the Sudan allowed him to grasp with amazing clarity what the problem is with Islam and “the curses it lays on its votaries.”

“Besides the fanatical frenzy, …, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy,” he wrote. “The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist where the followers of the Prophet rule or live. … The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to a sole man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. … Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities – but the influence of the religion paralyzes the social development of those who follow it.” And Churchill concluded: “No stronger retrograde force exists in the world.”

There are people who say that I hate Muslims. I do not hate Muslims. It saddens me how Islam has robbed them of their dignity. What Islam does to Muslims is visible in the way they treat their daughters. On March 11, 2002, fifteen Saudi schoolgirls died as they attempted to flee from their school in the holy city of Mecca. A fire had set the building ablaze. The girls ran to the school gates but these were locked. The keys were in the possession of a male guard, who refused to open the gates because the girls were not wearing the correct Islamic dress imposed on women by Saudi law: face veils and overgarments.

The “indecently” dressed girls frantically tried to save their young lives. The Saudi police beat them back into the burning building. Officers of the Mutaween, the “Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice,” as the Police are known in Saudi Arabia, also beat passers-by and firemen who tried to help the girls. “It is sinful to approach them,” the policemen warned bystanders. It is not only sinful, it is also a criminal offence.

Girls are not valued highly in Islam; the Koran says that the birth of a daughter makes a father’s “face darken and he is filled with gloom” (sura 43:17). Nevertheless, the incident at the Mecca school drew angry reactions. Islam is inhumane; but Muslims are humans, hence capable of Love – that powerful force which Muhammad despised. Humanity prevailed in the Meccan fathers who were incensed over the deaths of their daughters; it also prevailed in the firemen who confronted the Mutaween when the latter were beating the girls back inside, and in the journalists of the Saudi paper which, for the first time in Saudi history, criticized the much feared and powerful “Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice.”

However, Muslim protests against Islamic inhumanity are rare. Most Muslims, even in Western countries, visit mosques and listen to shocking Koranic verses and to repulsive sermons without revolting against them.

I am an agnosticus myself. But Christians and Jews hold that God created man in His image. They believe that by observing themselves, as free and rational beings capable of love, they can come to know Him. They can even reason with Him, as the Jews have done throughout their history. The Koran, on the contrary, states that “Nothing can be compared with Allah” (sura 16:74, 42:11). He has absolutely nothing in common with us. It is preposterous to suppose that Allah created man in his image. The biblical concept that God is our father is not found in Islam. There is no personal relationship between man and Allah, either. The purpose of Islam is the total submission of oneself and others to the unknowable Allah, whom we must serve through total obedience to Muhammad as leader of the Islamic state (suras 3:31, 4:80, 24:62, 48:10, 57:28). And history has taught us that Muhammad was not at all a prophet of love and compassion, but a mass murderer, a tyrant and a pedophile. Muslims could not have a more deplorable role model.

Without individual freedom, it is not surprising that the notion of man as a responsible agent is not much developed in Islam. Muslims tend to be very fatalistic. Perhaps – let us certainly hope so – only a few radicals take the Koranic admonition to wage jihad on the unbelievers seriously. Nevertheless, most Muslims never raise their voice against the radicals. This is the “fearful fatalistic apathy” Churchill referred to.

The author Aldous Huxley, who lived in North Africa in the 1920s, made the following observation: “About the immediate causes of things – precisely how they happen – they seem to feel not the slightest interest. Indeed, it is not even admitted that there are such things as immediate causes: God is directly responsible for everything. ‘Do you think it will rain?’ you ask pointing to menacing clouds overhead. ‘If God wills,’ is the answer. You pass the native hospital. ‘Are the doctors good?’ ‘In our country,’ the Arab gravely replies, in the tone of Solomon, ‘we say that doctors are of no avail. If Allah wills that a man die, he will die. If not, he will recover.’ All of which is profoundly true, so true, indeed, that is not worth saying. To the Arab, however, it seems the last word in human wisdom. ... They have relapsed – all except those who are educated according to Western methods – into pre-scientific fatalism, with its attendant incuriosity and apathy.”

Islam deprives Muslims of their freedom. That is a shame, because free people are capable of great things, as history has shown. The Arab, Turkish, Iranian, Indian, Indonesian peoples have tremendous potential. It they were not captives of Islam, if they could liberate themselves from the yoke of Islam, if they would cease to take Muhammad as a role model and if they got rid of the evil Koran, they would be able to achieve great things which would benefit not only them but the entire world.

As a Dutch, a European and a Western politician, my responsibility is primarily to the Dutch people, to the Europeans and the West. However, since the liberation of the Muslims from Islam, will benefit all of us, I wholeheartedly support Muslims who love freedom. My message to them is clear: “Fatalism is no option; ‘Inch’ Allah’ is a curse; Submission is a disgrace.

Free yourselves. It is up to you.

The Challenge of al-Qaeda's Inspire Magazine to the Muslim Community

Herein lies the crux of the Islamist conundrum.

"And here is the problem. Most Muslims believe in the Prophet they wish had existed. The Jihadists follow the Muhammad who really existed."

FROM STARINGAT THEVIEW:

The Challenge of al-Qaeda's Inspire Magazine to the Muslim Community

No-one seems to know how to respond to al-Qaeda's Inspire magazine. Stephen Colbert tried to be funny, as comedians always do. Peter Hoekstra tried to be blustery, as politicans always do. But the real challenge posed by the magazine and the ideology it represents is neither to American comedians nor politicians. It is to the Muslim Ummah, the community of Muslims worldwide, a challenge to look honestly at who Muhammad really was and how he responded to those who resisted his claim that he was a Prophet sent from God.

Stephen Colbert along with the rest of Western media might laugh at "How to Build a Bomb in Your Mom's Kitchen", but a much more serious editorial was written by American turned Jihadist Shaykh Anwar al-Awlaki. Entitled "The Cartoon Crusade - the Dust Will Never Settle Down", the editorial contains a list of Western non-Muslims, as well as former Muslims who have left Muhammad behind, who deserve to be killed because they criticized  Muhammad. The reason for this death sentence is simple and straightforward. "The medicine prescribed by the Messenger of God," writes Shaykh Anwar, "Is the execution of those involved. A soul that is so debased as to enjoy the ridicule of the Messenger of Allah...does not deserve life, does not deserve to breathe the air created by Allah, and enjoy a life provided for by Allah. Their proper abode is hellfire. The Messenger of Allah called for the assassination of Kab ibn Ashraf, and there are other incidents of his companions killing those who spoke against him. There was a blacklist of names of people in Makkah that were to be killed even if found hanging onto the clothes of the Kabah, the holiest site in Islam. This list included, among others, women who sang poetry defaming Muhammad."

Dhaka, Catholic victim of violence of Muslims who want to steal his land

This is the Muslim way of expansion.  Over and over again, Muslims harass, threaten and intimidate non-Muslims into leaving their homes and property.  This happens in Muslim majority countries such as Pakistan and Bangladesh with police and government support and approval. Inch by inch, month by month, year by year Muslims force their non-Muslim neighbors away and seize their land.

FROM ASIANEWS.IT:

Dhaka, Catholic victim of violence of Muslims who want to steal his land

by William Gomes
For years Sunil Gomes had suffered pressure from Muslim neighbours. In 2009 they shot at his home and confiscated part of his garden. His older sister is terrified: "No one defends us because we are Catholics. Muslims can attack at any moment".

Dhaka (AsiaNews) - Sunil Gomes, a family man and member of the Catholic parish of St. Lawrence in Dhaka, died June 28 last due to constant mental torture by Muslim neighbours who are trying to steal his land. The family members revealed the news only today and now they are afraid of being attacked by Muslims.

Sunil Gomes's family has long been under pressure. Their Muslims neighbours have wanted to expel them from their property for over a year.  October 8, 2009, a group of Muslims stormed into the Gomes house, threatened the family and took possession of half of the garden building a dividing wall. They also removed the plaque with the name of the Gomes family and a small cross and put in its place a plaque with the inscription "Allah Akbar".

On 22 October, Muslims attacked the Gomes family again firing several gunshots at the house.

On June 28, because of the increasingly violent pressure, Sunil Gomes died. Rita Gomes (pictured), sister of Sunil, told AsiaNews: "We had just learned that during a court hearing regarding our land and that the Muslims are preparing to attack us to steal our home”.

"I am a lawyer - she continues - but I can not help my family. The National Commission of Human Rights has taken the defence of Muslims, the police are corrupt and refused to protect us. The main problem is that we are Catholics and nobody wants to help us".

Rita Gomes added that only her younger sister and mother now remain in the house: "Our father is dead because the State failed to protect us. We're afraid of being killed by Muslims who can attack us any time. Our only hope is Our Lady, I have asked all Christians to pray for our family".

Seizures of land and houses are very common in Bangladesh. Usually the victims are members of ethnic and religious minorities.

LARS VILKS DRAWS MOHAMED AS PARAPLEGIC TO TEACH MUSLIMS VALUABLE LESSON.......

Over at the artist's website, Lars Vilks pens a new drawing of the false prophet of allah's Islam. This time he's pictured as a paraplegic to bring home a lesson for all Muslims to learn from. Thanks to the Baron for catching this and Reinhard for the brief synopsis of Lars' drawing. KGS

The post is about someone who's active in the paraplegic community who wrote to Vilks, telling him that paraplegics are often discriminated against, but that DO (Diskrimineringsombudsmannen) rarely respond to such cases. So Vilks draws the prophet as a paraplegic and writes that if Muslims are upset by this, they need to learn to be more tolerant towards the paraplegic and not discriminate against a weak group in society.

Muslim bus drivers refuse to let guide dogs on board

Last updated at 4:14 AM on 19th July 2010

Blind passengers are being ordered off buses or refused taxi rides because Muslim drivers or passengers object to their 'unclean' guide dogs.

One pensioner, a cancer sufferer, told how had twice been confronted by drivers and asked to get off the bus because of his guide dog, and had also faced hostility at a hospital and in a supermarket over the animal.

The problem to carry guide dogs on religious grounds has become so widespread that the matter was raised in the House of Lords last week, prompting transport minister Norman Baker to warn that a religious objection was not a reason to eject a passenger with a well-behaved guide dog.
George Herridge and his guide dog

While drivers can use their discretion to refuse to carry non-disabled passengers with dogs, they are compelled to accept guide dogs under disability discrimination law.

Yesterday both the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association and the National Federation of the Blind confirmed the problem was common, and, according to the latter organisation was 'getting worse'.
