Mass. Imam Guilty Of Immigration Fraud

This is why we are losing the war against Jihad. Muhammad Masood is found guilty of lying to immigration officials and his penalty is 36 months probation and he MAY be deported?

And in the meantime he's allowed to continue to roam the streets a free man. This is outrageous. Now there will be years of appeals and whining and complaining about discrimination. The proper solution to his disposition is 18 months at hard labor followed by deportation.

FROM THEBOSTONCHANNEL.COM:

Mass. Imam Guilty Of Immigration Fraud

Masood Was Leader Of Islamic Center Of N.E.
POSTED: 7:22 am EDT May 22, 2008BOSTON -- A local imam who pleaded guilty to immigration fraud charges faces sentencing in federal court.
Muhammad Masood is the former spiritual leader of the Islamic Center of New England's mosque in Sharon.
The arrest of Masood and another local imam in November 2006 prompted an outcry from local Muslims who accused the government of charging the men simply because they are Muslim.

Masood is a citizen of Pakistan and has lived in the United States for about 20 years. He admitted lying to immigration officials after he applied to become a permanent U.S. resident in 2002.
Federal prosecutors have agreed to recommend a sentence of three years probation, with no prison time, when Masood is sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court.
Masood's guilty plea could lead to his deportation.

This is of course funny. But it's also a graphic illustration of just how bad our illegal problem is.

Feds to Require International Visitors Be Fingerprinted Before Leaving U.S.

Good news here, late, but better late than never. Now the only thing left to do is actually enforce our immigration laws.

FROM FOXNEWS.COM:

Feds to Require International Visitors Be Fingerprinted Before Leaving U.S.

WASHINGTON — The Bush administration would require commercial airlines and cruise-line operators to collect information such as fingerprints from international travelers and send the information to the Homeland Security Department soon after the travelers leave the country, according to a proposed rule.
The proposal, which will be announced Tuesday, will close a security gap identified after the 9/11 attacks and identify which visitors have overstayed their visas.
Airlines and cruise ship operators must already provide the department with biographical information on international passengers before they leave the country. But this rule would require biometric information — such as fingerprints — to be collected and then transmitted within 24 hours of a visitor leaving the U.S., according to a Homeland Security official who spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement had not yet been made.
Over 10 years, officials estimate it will cost air and sea carriers about $2.7 billion to carry out the requirement. The department plans to enforce the rule by June 30, 2009. Some air carriers have complained the federal government should cover the cost of implementing this rule.
U.S. officials already collect fingerprints from visitors when they come into the country, but the administration has yet to complete the exit portion of the tracking program — known as US-VISIT.

Lawmakers, including Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., have pressed the department to roll out its biometric exit system for more than a year.
"Any uncertainty about who is entering and leaving our country is an unacceptable risk that must be addressed," Thompson, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said in a statement Monday.
There will be a 60-day comment period for the proposed rule.

We interrupt the campaign season for a border reality check

Here’s another major breech of American sovereignty. Illegals entering the US from Mexico represent a growing threat. Until our government stems the flow and deports the majority of border jumpers, our economy and security will continue to erode.

We interrupt the campaign season for a border reality check

By Michelle Malkin January 10, 2008 01:30 AM

Thanks to a FOIA request from Judicial Watch, you can now get a clearer picture of the continued chaos at our southern border. GOP Rep. Tom Tancredo and other immigration enforcement activists have been sounding the alarm about Mexican government/military incursions at the border. These violations of American sovereignty have been going on for years. DHS Secretary Michael “Lettucehead” Chertoff’s response? Nada. The information released to Judicial Watch adds new info. Bottom line: For fiscal year 2006 alone, there were 29 confirmed incidents along the U.S.- Mexican border involving Mexican military and/or law enforcement personnel, 17 of which involved armed Mexican government agents. Moreover, between 1996 and September 30, 2006, there were 253 confirmed incursions into the United States by Mexican government personnel.

France Races to Oust Illegal Immigrants

Kudos to France. Sarkozy seems to "get it". Meanwhile, Foggy Bottom continues to import tens of thousands from terrorist sponsoring countries.
FROM NEWSMAX.COM:
France Races to Oust Illegal Immigrants
PARIS -- A Russian boy suffers head injuries after falling from a window while trying to elude police. A North African man slips from a window ledge and fractures his leg while fleeing officers. A Chinese woman lies in a coma after plunging from a window during a police check.
As France races to deport 25,000 illegal immigrants by the end of the year _ a quota set by President Nicolas Sarkozy _ tensions are mounting and the crackdown is taking a toll.
Critics say the hunt threatens values in a nation that prides itself on being a cradle of human rights and a land of asylum. Protesters have gathered by the dozens in Paris to protect illegal aliens as police move in.
But with three months left in the year, police have caught at least 11,800 immigrants, less than half the target, so Sarkozy has ordered officials to pick up the pace.
"I want numbers," Sarkozy reportedly told Brice Hortefeux, head of the Ministry of Immigration, Integration, National Identity and Co-Development, which Sarkozy set up after taking office in May. "This is a campaign commitment. The French expect (action) on this."

State Dept: Stuck on Stupid

While our State Department imports all sorts of potential problems, France for once is doing something right. While we import thousands from terrorist sponsoring countries, France is busy deporting illegals as fast as they can.

State Dept: Stuck on Stupid
Admits 10,000 from Terror States
Al Reuters can't help but put the word "terrorism" in quotes but even with their dhimmi edits, it's a devastating indictment of the level of stupidity and willful ignorance and Arabist mentality at State. "The GAO said the State Department expressed disappointment with the report's findings and rejected recommendations" - apparently 10,000 would be terrorists is not enough for State.
U.S. admits nearly 10,000 from "terrorism" states

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Nearly 10,000 people from countries designated as sponsors of terrorism have entered the United States under an immigration diversity program with relatively few restrictions, a report released on Friday said.
The report by the U.S. Government Accountability Office said the State Department's inspector general warned in 2003 that the Diversity Visa Program posed a significant risk to national security and recommended it be closed to people from countries on the U.S. list of state terrorism sponsors.
But four years later, the program remains open to people from those nations and little is known about what becomes of them once they enter the United States, the GAO said.

CONNECTING THE DOTS

Here's another fine piece of logic and clarification from Frank Gaffney Jr. From the article:
"For his part, Adm. McConnell's admission raises the obvious question: If we caught more than a dozen Iraqi terrorists slipping into the U.S. during each of the last two years, how many were not intercepted? Typically, the ratio is something like for every one nabbed, 10 get through."
I would add that there are not just Iraqis coming over the borders (southern, northern and via air and ship) but Islamists of every ilk which would make the total number very large.

FROM FRONTPAGEMAG.COM:
Connecting the Dots
By Frank J. Gaffney Jr.
What do the following recent news items have in common?

--Sen. John Warner returns from a weeklong excursion to Iraq in the company of inveterate defeatist and Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin to announce the United States must begin withdrawing 5,000 troops from Iraq by Christmas. The Virginia Republican says he wants to use this symbolic step — which he might or might not try to impose legislatively in coming weeks — to pressure the Iraqi government to make more progress on various fronts.
--Director of National Intelligence Michael McConnell revealed to the El Paso Times that the United States had caught Iraqi terrorists trying to get into the country across its still-unfenced southern border. According to a report subsequently published in WorldNetDaily, Adm. McConnell's office revealed that, "During fiscal 2006, there were 14 Iraqi nationals caught trying to enter the U.S. illegally, while so far in 2007, that number is 16." The online publication quoted the DNI as saying, "The goal is for terrorists to gain admittance to the United States, and then produce 'mass casualties.' "
--Outgoing Attorney General Alberto Gonzales' Justice Department is paying the Islamic Society of North America for the privilege of having government lawyers man a booth at ISNA's upcoming annual convention in Chicago. The Washington Times' indefatigable Audrey Hudson broke the story, noting that federal employees at Justice are concerned this "outreach" to the Muslim-American community will jeopardize an important terrorism trial now under way in Dallas. After all, ISNA is one of a large number of Islamist front organizations identified as an unindicted co-conspirator by federal prosecutors in the Holy Land Foundation terror-financing case.
These three developments actually have several things in common:
(1) They each shed light on the magnitude of the threats we face in what truly is a War for the Free World. Mr. Warner's trial balloon is a reminder of the greatest danger we face in waging that war — the prospect of being defeated politically on the home front. Adm. McConnell's revelations make it clear that our enemies overseas are not waiting for such a defeat, and the humiliating withdrawal from Iraq it will precipitate, to try to attack us here at home. And the hash-up by the Justice Department calls attention to the fact that, even if no more foreign-based terrorists get into our country, we already have in our midst organizations that are sympathetic with, if not actually serving the interests of, our Islamofascist foes.
(2) Each of these news items tends, if anything, to understate the problem. Mr. Warner's is not only the latest of congressional demands to begin the surrender of Iraq to those who wish us ill there. It is also perhaps the most modest. The more irresponsible seek the immediate removal of all U.S. forces — a logistical impossibility and strategic disaster. Others envision changing the mission at once, quickly removing some of our troops and putting the rest on remote bases, effectively ceding much of Iraq to the terrorists and their enablers.
For his part, Adm. McConnell's admission raises the obvious question: If we caught more than a dozen Iraqi terrorists slipping into the U.S. during each of the last two years, how many were not intercepted? Typically, the ratio is something like for every one nabbed, 10 get through.
Indeed, WorldNetDaily reports that "the U.S. Customs and Border Protection intercepted 60 Iraqis crossing the nation's southwestern border in 2006 who were seeking asylum in the U.S., while that number so far in 2007 is 178." What is interesting is that the El Paso Times was told by a U.S. intelligence analyst, "There's been evidence that human smugglers, or coyotes, are telling Iraqis to ask for amnesty if they are caught." How many desiring to do us harm are among those seeking amnesty (caught and uncaught) — and whose wish might be realized if extraordinarily ill-advised legislation like H.R. 2265 recently introduced in Congress is adopted? (For a troubling analysis of this bill, see here).

Teen jailed for TB denied having disease

Gee, lets just open the borders to anyone wanting to come here. No questions asked, no medical screen, no backround check for criminality or terrorism. Just one big happy family. Now we have Francisco Santos of Mexico, immigration status, unknown, so far. Santos is now incarcirated because he walked out of a treatment center with the aim of "heading back to Mexico". We have got to close the borders and deporat any and all illegals, NOW.

Teen jailed for TB denied having disease, officials say By CRAIG SCHNEIDER

When doctors told Francisco Santos he had tuberculosis Friday, health officials said the Gwinnett County 17-year-old refused to believe it.
Then the wiry, dark-haired youth refused to submit to any treatment. Worse, he said he was walking out of the Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville and heading back to his home country of Mexico, officials said.
"I think he was scared," said David Will, attorney for the Gwinnett County Board of Health.
Gwinnett health officials found themselves in a bind. They had a person with a case of active, contagious tuberculosis, refusing treatment and threatening to carry the disease to a foreign country.

Muslim immigration likened to bird flu

Now heres a politician who gets it.
FROM NEWS.COM.AU
Muslim immigration likened to bird flu
By Nick Ralston
August 23, 2007 03:12pm
A NSW Senate candidate has compared the immigration of Muslims to Australia to the bird flu and says it should stop.
Christian Democratic Party (CDP) Senate candidate Paul Green called today for a moratorium on Muslim immigration while a study on its social impacts was carried out.
He said it would be easier to carry out such a study with the country's Muslim population at 300,000, rather than three million at a later date.
A study would also give the Australian people a chance to have a say on the immigration program, Mr Green said.
He said that in the last 12 months, a number of local Muslim senior clerics had made statements that were not of "the Australian nature".
"If there was bird flu coming from a people's group across the nation would we not halt, assess the risk management of what it means to Australia and then assess the factors and then say, is it not safe to continue that or withhold it until it is dealt with," he said.
"We are saying there's cracks in the foundation, we need to address them."
Mr Green said Australia would suffer the same fate as "Britain, France and Holland" unless the study was carried out.
However, he said the social impact study would not form part of any political deal done with the Liberal Party for preference swapping ahead of this year's federal election.
Christian Democrats leader Fred Nile said his party's immigration policy also called on a priority for Christians who have been persecuted, particularly in Muslim countries, to be allowed into Australia.
"It's a very broad policy, and it is certainly not racist," Mr Nile said.
"We don't care where the people come from, what colour of the skin they are, we are happy to accept them, particularly the Christians who have been persecuted."
Mr Nile said he believed the Federal Government was already starting to adopt some of the CDP policies.

ALIEN'S OVERDUE DEPARTURE

What I do not understand about this situation is why this woman, a double felon, was allowed to take "sanctuary" in a church while the ICE people knew of her whereabouts. I do not believe that there is such a thing as legal "sanctuary" in the US. Was she allowed to thumb her nose at the authorities because of political correctness? or political expediency? either way, it will just encourage more illegal immigration and contempt for the law.
FROM JEWISH WORLD REVIEW:
Alien's overdue departure
By Debra J. Saunders

Elvira Arellano's story starts out with the most understandable (if expedient and wrong-headed) rationale for breaking American immigration law. Poor and Mexican, she figured that she could make a better life for herself if she crossed the border illegally and found work.

But the events that followed her initial crossing in 1997 — culminating in Arellano's arrest and deportation Sunday — illustrate the corrosive effects that illegal immigration can have on those who break immigration law. No wonder so many Americans opposed the so-called immigration reform package as they feared the bill would not only reward scofflaws, but support activists' apparent belief that there is nothing wrong with flouting American law.

"We immigrants need representation," Arellano complained last year, according to The Associated Press. "The millions of Mexican immigrants who are living in the U.S. are being treated like criminals. I'm not a criminal. I'm a mother who worked to support my son in this country."

Actually, Arellano is a convicted felon.

When Arellano snuck across the border in August 1997, she was caught and deported. Arellano then chose to break American law again. She re-entered the country — a felony that, if prosecuted, is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

In December 2002, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested Arellano at Chicago's O'Hare Airport.

According to ICE, Arellano was "working illegally for a janitorial services business whose employees had access to security sensitive areas." Subsequently, Arellano was convicted for using someone else's Social Security number — a felony.

After three years of probation, Arellano was supposed to be deported in August 2006. Instead, she and her son Saul, 8, sought sanctuary at the Adalberto United Methodist Church in Chicago.

This weekend, Arellano left the church to speak at a rally in Los Angeles, where she was arrested. At Arellano's request, her son remains in America with the family of Pastor Walter Coleman.

IMMIGRATION CRACKDOWN

Let's hope this isn't what my cynical nature thinks it is: just smoke and mirrors to get the American people off the administrations back. It’s interesting that the “workers rights” people constantly obscure reality by referring to illegal border jumper criminals as migrant workers. I just can’t believe that it’s good for the country to allow millions if ill eagle workers to push our own people into poverty. It would be best for the economy if wages were allowed to rise to the point that Americans could make a decent living in agricultural and construction work. I’d much prefer to pay a premium for products knowing that my fellow Americans were benefiting. the same goes for industries that have sent their production offshore to keep prices down. The stamp MADE IN AMERICA is worth a lot.
Immigration Crackdown Worries Employers
NewsMax.com Wires
Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007
Farmers and other employers who rely heavily on immigrant labor said Friday that they could be driven out of business by the Bush administration's plans to crack down on workers whose Social Security numbers do not match their names, and businesses that hire them.
Administration officials said the stepped-up enforcement would begin in 30 days.
"Everyone's very anxious," said Paul Schlegel, director of public policy for the American Farm Bureau Federation. "We're heading into the busiest time of the year for agriculture, so you're going to see a lot of worry from farmers and employers about how you deal with this."
The industry group, which represents 75 percent of U.S. farmers, estimates at least half the nation's 1 million farm workers do not have valid Social Security numbers. Losing them would devastate the industry, particularly fruit and vegetable growers, which rely heavily on manual labor, farmers said.
Other businesses that count on large numbers of illegal workers include construction, janitorial and landscaping companies, and hotels and restaurants.
"We are concerned that the new regulations will result in employers in numerous industries having to let workers go as the economy is facing an increasingly tight labor market," said John Gay of the National Restaurant Association.
